1 Basic Dicom Module Options Updated October 2, 2013 There are several methods for getting Dicom images into a patient s chart. The first option involves using the Image Capture Importer module which allows you to access Images on your Dicom server as well as Dicom images from a CD. While the Image Importer is open, you can adjust the contrast, annotate the image and then file it to the chart as a single image(s) or as custom multiple image document. Dicom server is required. The second option involves inserting Dicom images into text documents using the Image Capture Importer module which allows you to access Images on your Dicom server. While the Image Importer is open, you can adjust the contrast, annotate the image and then insert it into a text document as single or multiple images. Dicom server is required. The third option is to be used if you do not have a Dicom server, and only if your Dicom machine supports this process; you can save the Dicom images straight from the Dicom machine into the PCM filing inboxes or you can file from a network drive, once the images are saved into the Filing Inboxes you can view, manipulate, add annotations and then file to the patients chart. Dicom server is not required. The fourth and newest option is the ability to file epdf Dicom Images from the PCM Filing Inboxes. Important Notes: Image Edits: All Dicom image annotations, edits and changes in rotation or contrast must be done prior to filing or inserting into document, changes are not reversible after the image is filed to the patient s chart. Image Date: If the date exists in the image tag, there will be no need to choose the date unless the date does not exist in the tags or if the user wishes to change it. Study Type: If the study type exists in the image tag, the information will be stored in the document comment; therefore there is no need to type the comment. Signing Dicom Images: If you wish to sign the image after filing, choose the PDF option because images filed as TIF or using the Send to Dicom Svr option cannot be signed. Dicom Images will be filed as PDF or TIF unless the Send to Dicom Svr option is used.
