1 UJI-ESURVEY SERVICE TESING MANUAL If you want to create a survey in the UJI-eSurvey service, you have to be admin or academic staff of an academic organization. On the other hand, if you have received a link to participate in a survey, or you want to test a survey you have created, you will have to satisfy the specified requisites for that survey. CREATE A SURVEY PREREQUISITES In order to being able to create a survey, you will have to satisfy the next prerequisites: To have a credential of a country connected to STORK. To be an admin or an academic staff of an academic organization. If you do not match the requirements and you still want to create a survey, you will have to find a person that match them and create the survey for you. ACCESSING THE SERVICE First of all, you will have to login into the system. For this, access to the admin URL (something like and the login form will be displayed: If you do not have been provided a user name and a password, click on the 'Login by STORK' button to access the service throughout STORK. You will be redirect to the next page: 1
2 On this page, select your country of origin and click on the 'Login' button. If you are an admin or an academic staff of any organization connected to STORK, you will be logged into the system. However, if you are not authorized or an error occurs, a similar page to the one below will be displayed: CREATING A NEW SURVEY Once you are logged into the system, you are able to create surveys. On the main page, access to the plus link remarked in the image below: 2
3 You will access to the create survey form and you will have to fill in the different sections. The sections related to STORK are 'Anonymity options' and 'Stork Attributes'. In the section 'Anonymity options', indicate that STORK anonymity servers will be used to relay the participations, and select an anonymity level (please do not select Test level for real surveys), the higher the larger the amount of hops every participation will perform on the network. The section 'Stork attributes' is the one related to the population of the survey. Fill in the attributes that will be use to restrict the participation in the survey. Remember that a citizen will only be enabled to participate if all selected attributes can be provided and their value matches the restrictions (notice that the string value of the retrieved attribute must match exactly one of the optional values you specified here). For example, if you only want to allow that students of the UJI and the POLITO in the programme of study IT (this is a proposed code for Information Technologies Studies, you have to make sure all APs will return this value, or set the expected value from each AP) to access the survey, you must include the two university codes in the institution field of the is student attribute, and IT in the programme of study field. The system will check that the participants are students from UJI or POLITO and they are studying IT. Participants must provide each attribute you set and its value must match one of the options you set for that attribute. 3
4 After creating the survey, you will be redirected to the survey administration page, that will show a summary of the survey and will give you access to all the admin options. 4
5 The next step is adding question groups and questions to the survey. Use the options in the survey bar to compose your form. Finally, you have yo activate the survey. Just click on the green triangle of the survey bar and you will be redirect to the next page: 5
6 Activate the survey and, in the next page, you will be asked to initialise the table to store the participants. If you have already initialised them throughout the survey bar menu, you will be directly redirect to the participants page of the survey. The survey is now active and anyone that satisfies its requirements will be able to participate. However, the survey is not public, so you will have to provide the URL of the survey, which you can find in the survey URL field on the survey summary page (the one you are shown when you select the survey on the surveys selector), to the population you want to survey (by , by publishing it in a portal, etc.). 6
7 COMMENTS REGARDING SURVEY PARTICIPANTS MANAGEMENT In order to participate in a STORK survey, participants have to be able to provide certain attributes through STORK and they have to provide the requested attributes in the survey to prove that they meet the requirements to be part of its population. For this reason, you cannot insert manually the participants in the survey neither import them. Also, participants cannot be removed, only if the tokens table is deleted. So, token management has been mainly limited to visualize the information about the survey participants. However, when the survey is not active, it is possible to add dummy participants to test the survey. This test participation will be done using a self-generated token and without STORK interaction (no attributes requested) and the results will not be stored. Dummy participants are automatically deleted when the STORK survey is set active. PARTICIPATE IN A SURVEY PREREQUISITES In order to being able to participate in a survey, you will have to satisfy the next prerequisites: To have been provided with the link of a STORK survey. To have a credential of a country connected to STORK. To satisfy the restrictions of the survey. PARTICIPATION PROCESS To participate in a STORK survey, the creator of the survey must reveal you the survey URL. Once you access to the survey link, a similar page to the one below will be displayed: 7
8 On this page, the population requirements are shown. If you think that you match the requisites and can participate in the survey, then continue the process selecting your country of origin and clicking on the Participate button. In addition, if the terms and conditions checkbox is shown, you must accept them. If after getting the attributes from the AP, their values are not available or do not match survey requirements, you cannot access to the survey and the next page is displayed: On the other hand, if the returned attributes match the survey specifications, you will be able to participate in the survey. 8
9 Once you have filled the survey form, click on the Participate button and wait until the button shows that the submit process has finished. Do not close the browser window before that point or the participation will be lost and you may not be able to participate again. In case of error, a text field will be shown with information regarding the cause for the error. Submit this information to the administrator of the service. At the end of the submit process, you may be required to fill in a satisfaction survey on the usage of this service. 9
