1 8 Turnitin Blackboard manual for Instructors 8 ー 1 Turnitin compares submitted papers with data in available repositories for matches or similar text. The results of this comparison are displayed as a percentage. This percentage should be used only as an indicator. Determinations of plagiarism require human judgment. The score should be taken only as an indication and the instructor alone must judge whether the submission is a case of plagiarism. Similarity may be judged high even in the case of clear quotation. Similarity may be judged high in the case of proper nouns also. Lists of references and bibliographic information may also trigger a high similarity score. Common expressions may be scored high for similarity. *If Edit Mode is off, clicking the Edit Mode button inn the top-right corner of the page turns it on. Creating a Turnitin Direct Assignment 1.
