The FREE Tax Center App allows seamless navigation of Bloomberg BNA s expertise and information, including Tax Management Portfolios, Federal and State Navigators, Tax Practice Series, news and commentary, cases, Internal Revenue Code, U.S. and International Tax Treaties, and more. The app requires Apple ios7 or greater, and Android devices with 4.0 and greater. Home Use the menu to navigate through the application. To return to the home page from any screen, either tap the Pop-up Menu icon or Bloomberg BNA on the banner. News & Commentary Access the titles included in your subscription. Analysis Access subject-specific Portfolios, Fast Answers, Federal and State Navigators, and more. Sources Internal Revenue Code, U.S. and International Tax Treaties, and more. State - State-specific content in the Tax Center. Cases Search for a specific case, or cases citing a case. Go To Direct access to federal documents, expert analysis, and cases by citation. Search Use the Search box to search in the collection being viewed. Toolbar On the ipad, tap the corner or edge of the screen to display the toolbar. The icons are specific to the displayed content. On the iphone and Android devices, toggle Reference and Footnotes at the bottom of the screen to view them. Share this document with other subscribers to the Tax and Accounting Center. 9 Make a document a Favorite. Tap the Star icon on the home page to access the list of Favorite documents. Favorites are automatically stored for offline use. Turn the Red Reference citations on/off by tapping the Reference icons. Turn Footnotes on/off. Turn Highlights on/off. Navigate search terms in Search Results Search Results tap each content collection to toggle through the different collections of Search Results. 2 ANALYSIS Portfolios and Other Analysis Conduct a global search within all Analysis content using the Search All Analysis text box: Fast Answers U.S. Income Portfolios Federal Excise Tax Navigator Estates, Gifts and Trusts Portfolios Federal Advisors Tax Practice Series Foreign Income Portfolios Global Tax Guide Tax Prep Guides State Tax Portfolios Sales & Use Portfolios State Guides and Navigators Accounting Policy & Practice Series Analysis includes links to related materials. Advanced Search Pull the screen down to display Advanced Search and search by specific fields. Use the switches to add or remove content collection(s) to/from a search. Note: To view the path of an analysis document, pull the text down. The path displays at the top of the screen. CACHE PORTFOLIOS Click the download icon in the opened Portfolio. A gray bar displays next to any cached Portfolio listing, indicating the availability of the Portfolio. 2

3 NEWS & COMMENTARY View the list of titles included in your subscription. Tap the title to display the current issue. To reorder the list, tap and hold the title until it turns red and then move it up or down. To view the articles offline when the device doesn t have Internet connectivity (e.g.: on a plane, metro, etc.), tap the Offline icon. Tap the radio button to select titles to be available offline and store up to 200 articles per newsletter issue on the device. Search a specific title using the Search box at the top of an article. Pull the screen down to display the Advanced Search template. CASES Tap Cases on the home page. Enter the relevant search criteria and select whether to Find this case or Find cases citing this case. Click Search. FAVORITES Click the Star icon to make a document a favorite. To access Favorite documents, click the Star icon on the Home Page. 3

4 GO TO (FEDERAL) Go To documents, cases, or expert analysis by citation. Use the slider bar to access each search template. Document by Citation and Expert Analysis display a tumbler listing the available content collections. The Internal Revenue Code and Portfolios collections display an additional tumbler with options to make specific content selections. Tap the Down icon and then scroll the tumbler to select a content collection or date depending on the text box s content. Tap Select and the content collection is loaded. Enter the citation to be searched. Tap Search. The Case by Citation template displays the formats to use when entering the case citation. 4

5 STATE State-specific content is grouped by state and can include: Portfolios, Navigators, Developments (back to 2013), Statutes and Regulations, Rulings and Official Matter, Cases and Other. Use the arrow to drill down the available content for each state or territory. Developments content can go back as far as

To access the Advanced Search template, pull the search screen down. Select or deselect content to be included in an Advanced Search using the slider next to each collection. Note: To view the path of a source document, pull the text down. The path displays at the top of the screen. SEARCH HISTORY Tap the Search History icon in the right hand corner of the search template, or slide the search template to the left to display the Search History. Up to five searches are retained. Tap a listed search name to relaunch the search or click the x to delete it. 6

7 SETTINGS 1 Tap the Settings icon or slide any screen to the right to access the settings screens. Account Sign in or out of your account. News & Commentary Add/remove article summaries and mark all as read or unread. Data Set WiFi/cellular or both and download content automatically. More View additional Bloomberg BNA apps. 7

Employing three different research strategies, participants work through exercises and searches while learning to locate answers with the Resource Center.
