1 1 Chapter 03 - Medprax Medicine, Materials & Medical Aid Updates Please Take Note: In order to qualify for the Medprax Services, you must subscribe to the Medprax Services on their website at click on the Subscribe link, fill in your details and Medprax will contact you for further instructions. Medprax updating via the Medprax Downloader: The Medprax downloader software can be installed via the Internet by Medprax or by your MeDAP specialist. Once installed, you need to register at and click on the Download the Medprax Downloader - link. Medprax will then send you an Activation Code, which must be filled in the screen as shown below: Once the activation code is filled in, click on Register, and submit your practice details. Click on Activate and the status on this screen will change from Not Active to Active. The Medprax files will now be automatically dowloaded onto your computer as specified in the Destination Folder.

2 2 The following Medprax Downloader Notification pop-up will appear: This pop-up will appear on a daily basis to remind you of the Medprax file being downloaded onto your computer. Once a new Medprax file has been dowloaded, the MeDAP software will automatically inform the operator via the following message: Click on OK to update the MeDAP database with the latest Medprax file. To check the if the latest information has actually been updated in your software, click on any of the Medprax material, medicine or medical aid buttons on the Main Menu s top Shortcut Menu Bar. The last date that Medprax updated the file will appear at the bottom of the screen: Or to double check, type the word Date in the lookup and the last updated date will appear inside the medprax file:

3 3 Medprax updating via (if not done automatically via the Downloader): Medprax will send two files every Monday, called Med005e.zip and Prx006.zip to the practice via . These files contain the latest medicine-, injectables & material prices and the latest medical aid file. You can also register with Medprax to download the required files direct from their website. Please remember that Medprax charges a fee for their services rendered. Select your software (Ms Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc.) and download the that is in your mailbox. Your software will now display an from Medprax containing the zipped (compressed) files. These files downloaded to your must now be saved in order that the files may be used to update the medicines, material and medical aid files. Double click on the message from Yldiz and the following screen will appear. Double click on the 1 st attachment and the following screen will appear: Click on the OK button and you will be asked where you wish to save the attached file.

4 4 Click on the next to Save in and you will see the following screen: Left click on C and the following screen will appear: Click on the button until you see displayed in the listing. Then click on the Medprax Folder and the following screen will appear. Kindly note that in some of the displayed screens the file names, etc. shown are not what you will actually be using. Please follow the instructions strictly as per this manual, which correctly specify the files names and folders as to where these files are to be copied to. In the file name field in the above screen you will see the file name that you originally clicked on in the received. The names of these 2 files are PRX006.zip and Med005e.zip. Now click on the SAVE button to save that specific file to the Medprax folder. If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 as your operating system, the OS may block the files to be used for updating purposes due to the security checks built into the OS. You should then, by using Windows Explorer, select the Medprax directory and then right click on the files with a.zip extension. This will then display the following in which you can see whether the file may be blocked.

5 5 If the screen as above is displayed, click the, then the and then the buttons in that order to remove the blocking of the file. You will then be asked whether to overwrite the existing file in the Medprax directory. Instruct the system to overwrite the file as the data on these files represent the latest updates to the medical aids and medicines. Follow the same routine to save the other file/s to the Medprax directory. After you have saved the required files to the Medprax directory, go to the Main Menu of the MeDAP PMA and do a manual import and update of the Medprax data. How to manually import and update the Medprax data: Once in the MeDAP program s Main Menu, click on the button for the following screen.

This will cause an error while updating the Medprax medical aids file. To eliminate this error, you can check for duplicate medical aid s names in the Medprax Medical Aids file. Go to the Main Menu s Shortcut bar at the top, click on and the following will be displayed:. The other buttons must only be used when advised to do so by a MeDAP consultant. If duplicated medical aids are displayed, you should contact Medprax and advise them of these duplicates.
