3 Getting Started with SCM ISPW Work List The goal of this Test Drive section is to provide you with experience using Agile Source Code Management, Deployment, and Release Automation on a mainframe platform. Compuware ISPW enables developers to quickly and safely build, test and deploy mainframe code. The ISPW Work List is a means to report on the change history events in ISPW. This includes changes which are currently being worked on or tested, or back to the first change ever processed by ISPW when it was first implemented. The report is created using a filter and can be sorted by simply clicking on the column headings. This Test Drive will take you through the following activities: View the Work List in ISPW to see what has been moved to production in the last 2 weeks Filtering and sorting the Work List Exporting the Work List Instructions: This guide contains many screenshots to provide a visual reference Every action you must take is in BOLD Please note each place that you must enter your own specific ID or number You must complete each step before proceeding to the next to successfully follow the guide To get started in the Topaz Workbench: Open the Host Explorer perspective Click on the arrow next to Hosts Right-click on TestDrive and select Login Logon on with the user credentials that were provided to you for with the TestDrive and click OK Select ISPW from the Compuware menu Page 3

5 During this Test Drive you will encounter terms specific to ISPW. Here is a glossary for your convenience. An immutable version of a Component. An instance of a unit of work. For example, a change to a Component. A generated object such as a load module, or a Listing or a DBRM Storage location for inactive historical or overlaid Component Versions (source and parts). A package of one or more, usually related, Tasks. A development container that is used to organize and manage development work. A package of Tasks from one or more Assignment Containers. An operational container that is used to organize and manage operational releases. A package of Tasks at an instance in time. A special ISPW container that is used internally to organize and manage work requests. Make a statement of intent, often because of some impact analysis. Copy source to development area Make a change to the source in the development area. Execute Compile and Link processes. Move Task forward to the next Level in the Life-Cycle. Move Task backwards to the previous Level in the Life- Cycle. Remove a Task from the development area Restore previous version of Task. Implement Task in one or more Run Time environments. Page 5

6 Work List Reporting Your task in this Test Drive is to generate Work Lists (reports) from ISPW. You will then view, filter, sort and export these reports. Go to Window, Show View, and click on Other. Page 6

8 Find ISPW and click on the arrow next to it to expand your selection. Select ISPW Work List and click OK. This will bring up the Work List view below. The data you see will be different, or you may see no data. Page 8

9 Double click on the ISPW Work List to maximize the screen. Page 9

10 The report presented here is based on the last filter set by the previous user of this Test Drive ID. The filtering selected can reflect various requirements: 1) Audit who changed what and when 2) Manager what is the status 3) Change coordinator how close are changes to being ready 4) Developer what changed in Production recently that could be causing the current abend/issue 5) Analyst how many times in the last year has this program been changed 6) and many more Click on the filter button (circled). 11 Work List Filtering This will open up the filter box and you can change your filters to find the information you are looking for. Remove the application filter. Click OK. Page 11

12 Now you see all work-in-process items from all applications everything checked out and being worked on but not yet in Production. Page 12

You are a manager that wants to see all programs that have been moved to Prod for a specific Test Drive ID in the last 2 weeks. Bring the filter back up.

13 You are a manager that wants to see all programs that have been moved to Prod for a specific Test Drive ID in the last 2 weeks. Bring the filter back up. Select Production in the upper left corner, uncheck In progress. Check Use selected dates and enter the last 2 weeks for Start and End dates. Under Owner put the Test Drive ID you were assigned at the beginning of the Test Drive process. As you can see there are many filters that can be used in the Work List. Try a few of them out to create different scenarios for yourself. Many different reports can be generated from this list. The report can be sorted simply by clicking on the title of the column. Click OK. Page 13

14 Now you will see the information you asked for on your screen. This shows which items were promoted to production and when they were promoted. Try clicking on the column headings to sort your data. Page 14

15 Export the Work List Let s say you want this report in a spread sheet format. Click on the export button (circled). Choices are given for the export. Choose the options you like, you can see a file will be created for you on your desktop. Select Browse for the Export to: Page 15

16 Select Desktop and click Open. Click OK when you have made your selections. Your spreadsheet has been created on your Desktop. Click minimize so that you can see your desktop. Page 16

17 You now see your file CWEZXXX-Worklist. Double-click on it. If it asks you how to open it select Notepad. Normally you would use a tool like Microsoft Excel. When the file is open you will see your data. Page 17

18 You are done your job has been to produce a Work List report. As a part of this exercise, you have been able to use Compuware s Topaz Workbench and ISPW to: View the Work List in ISPW Filter the Work List to see what items have been moved to production in the last 2 weeks Filter and sort the Work List to produce various reports Export the Work List to a file View the Work List in the file Congratulations!
