4 How do I share my computer screen with? You will learn how to use the software to allow a support technician remote access to your computer. 1. Start HSU-Remote-Support 1.1. Windows 7/10 If you are not using a work computer and/or do not have HSU Remote Support installed, you can find it here: HSU Software Downloads Locate and download (Windows). In the Start Menu Search bar, search for HSU-Remote-Support-PC and launch the application. Page 4
5 1.2. Mac OSX If you are not using a work computer and/or do not have HSU Remote Support installed, you can find it here: HSU Software Downloads Locate and download (Mac). Open Spotlight Search, search for QuickSupport and launch the application. Page 5
6 2. Connect to the Application When the application launches you will see two numbers, an ID and a password. The ID is unique to your computer, but the password is randomly generated each time. Provide your ID and Password to the HSU technician currently assisting you. They will be able to see your screen and have temporary control in order to help with any problems you might have. Page 6
7 A small blue window will appear at the bottom right, giving information about who's connected, allowing you to end the session at any time by clicking X. Note: You must give your approval before a remote control session can be initiated. Support staff are unable to remotely view or control your screens without your permission. During the Remote Support session, you will see a small window onscreen with the technician's name and phone extension. By clicking X you can to terminate the Remote Support session at any time. Control the Session The control panel allows you to: video, voice, and text chat share files use your screen as a whiteboard Expand the sections below to learn more Video Chat Click the Video Camera icon to expand the Video panel. Click the No Video Camera icon in the Video panel to enable video capture. Page 8
9 3.2. Voice Chat Click the Headset icon to expand the Audio panel. Click the No Microphone icon to unmute your microphone. Page 9
10 3.3. Text Chat Click the Chat Bubbles icon to expand the Text Chat panel. Type a message into the text box and hit the Enter key or click Send. Page 10
11 Your message will be displayed to the technician assisting you File Sharing Click the Stack of Paper icon to expand the File Box panel. Page 11
12 Drag-and-drop files or click the blue + button to share files. You can select files from your computer. Selecting from a storage service (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box...) is currently not supported Whiteboard Click the Paint Brush icon to expand the Whiteboard panel. Page 12
13 Use the following buttons to switch between tools: Tool Control Mode Description Control other applications Pen Draw a freehand line Highlighter Highlight interesting things Eraser Erase from drawing Rectangle Ellipse Text Ctrl: Square Shift: Concentric Ctrl: Circle Shift: Concentric Text Speech Text box with Speech Balloon (Comic Strip Style) Page 13
14 Use the toggle to turn the Whiteboard tools on and off Minimize the Panel Click the arrow on the left to minimize the Control Panel to the side of your desktop. Click the Logo to expand the Control Panel. Page 14
15 3.7. Deny/Allow Remote Control Click the Blue Cursor icon in the Session list panel to deny Remote Control. Click the Blue No Cursor icon in the Session list panel to allow Remote Control. Page 15
16 3.8. Close a Panel The panel for each tool has a Settings dropdown in the upper right corner. To close a panel: 1. click the Settings Gear icon 2. click Close <Tool Name> (e.g. Close Session list) 3.9. End the Session When your session is finished, close the Remote Support application by clicking X. Page 16
