2 1 System requirements 1.1 Operating system DPV for SWEET can be installed on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 as well as on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server Windows XP is not supported, since Microsoft stopped the maintenance in April This means that no further security updates will be released by Microsoft. Therefore the storage of personalised patient data is not recommended on Windows XP. 1.2 Minimal system requirements Client Processor: x86 or x64 2 GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (minimum); 2 GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (recommended) RAM: 1 GB (minimum); 2 GB (recommended) Hard disk: up to 300 MB of available space may be required Server Processor: x86 or x64 2 GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (minimum); 2 GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (recommended) RAM: 1 GB (minimum); 2 GB (recommended) Hard disk: up to 1.5 GB of available space may be required 1.3 Prerequisites Since DPV for SWEET depends on the.net-framework 4.5, the Framework will be installed prior to the installation of DPV for SWEET. If the framework is missing, the following screen will appear: Please click Accept and Install to install the.net-framework. The DPV for SWEET setup will start automatically, as soon as the installation of the.net-framework has finished. 2

3 1.4 Techniques used DPV for SWEET is using common techniques provided by Microsoft Windows and the.net-framework: WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation): graphical user interface WCF (Windows Communication Foundation): communication between clients and server Windows Firewall: port configuration for communication between clients and server Windows Services: hosting the server part and the import routine (HL7-files) of DPV for SWEET Component Services: Visual FoxPro DLL as Com+ Application for accessing the database by the server part of DPV for SWEET MSMQ (Message Queuing): communication between Visual FoxPro DLL and server part of DPV for SWEET 3

4 2 Installing DPV To install DPV please start the setup file (DPVInstallation.exe) downloaded via the provided link. The setup starts with the Welcome -screen. To proceed, click the Continue -button. 4

5 2.1 Type of installation In the next screen, please choose the type of installation. The following options are available Single-desktop: this will install the server part, as well as the client part of DPV for SWEET on the PC. Only one user at a time can then work with DPV for SWEET. Client-server server: this will install the server part of DPV for SWEET. The server part has to be installed on the actual server. Furthermore, the name (or IP) of the server and the port for the communication have to be provided. Multiple concurrent users can work with DPV for SWEET. Client-server client this will install the client part of DPV for SWEET. The client part has to be installed on every client DPV for SWEET shall be used. Furthermore, the name (or IP) and the port of the server on which the server part of DPV for SWEET is installed have to be provided for the communication. Multiple concurrent users can work with DPV for SWEET. To proceed, click the Continue -button. 5

6 2.2 Target directory To change the target directory for the installation, please click the Search Folder -Button. The default target directory is C:\QS_Ulm\DPVc. It is not recommended to install the DPV for SWEET into the Program Files -folder, since there may be problems with saving data to the database. To proceed, click the Continue -button. 6

7 2.3 Communication between server and client This screen will only be shown, when the server or client part of DPV for SWEET are installed separately. Please provide the IP or name of the server and the port on which the communication should proceed. To proceed, click the Continue -button. 7

8 2.4 Installation overview On the next screen, an overview for the pending installation is shown. To install DPV for SWEET, please click the Install -button. During installation, all buttons are disabled and a little progress-animation is shown. 8

9 2.5 Installation successful When the installation has finished successfully, the screen below will be shown. To end the setup, click the Exit -Button. To start DPV for SWEET, please click on the new icon on the desktop: 9

10 3 Updating DPV New updates will be frequently released on the SWEET-website. The setup file also contains the update procedure. The setup automatically detects, if DPV for SWEET is already installed. The following screen will be shown: To install the update click the Update -button. 10

11 When the installation of the update has finished, the screen below will be shown. To end the setup, click the Exit -button 11

12 4 Uninstalling DPV To uninstall DPV for SWEET, please start the setup file again. Since the setup detects the existing installation automatically, the screen below is shown. Click the Uninstall -button to remove the DPV-preview from the computer. 12

13 When uninstalling has finished, the screen below is shown. To end the setup, click the Exit -button 13

14 5 Error during installation If an error occurs during the installation, the following screen is shown. The installation logs (a zip-file will be created, since the protocol can consist of multiple files) can be saved as file and sent to us via . 14
