3 Introduction Welcome to the LiveStor Service Center Installation Guide. This guide is intended to familiarize you with the installation and requirements of LiveStor. About the LiveStor Service Center The LiveStor Service Center is designed to automate backups and provide remote storage of your organization s important data. You can use LiveStor to back up any files that your organization wants to maintain from your program data to your spreadsheets. System Requirements Before you can install LiveStor, your computer must meet the following system requirements: Minimum Requirements Recommended Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, or Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional Windows XP Professional CPU Intel Pentium II/Celeron Pentium III class or higher 300 RAM 32 MB 128 MB or more Internet Connection 56K* Broadband Firewall Information: LiveStor uses ports 21 (FTP) and 80 (HTTP). *Dial-up does not offer an optimal connection. A broadband connection is recommended. Installing LiveStor Installing LiveStor is a two-part procedure. You must install Microsoft.NET Framework version 1.1 before installing the LiveStor Service Center. Also, you must agree to the terms of service for both programs during their installation. After you install LiveStor, it is your responsibility to set up LiveStor jobs and ensure that the data is transferred properly. Page 3 of 5

4 Installing.NET Framework Version 1.1 To install.net Framework 1. Go to 2. In the.net Framework 1.1 box, click Download. The File Download dialog box displays. 3. Click Save. The Save As dialog box displays. 4. To save the dotnetfx (v1.1).exe file, click Save. A message displays when the download is complete. 5. To run the download file, click Open. The Setup dialog box displays. 6. Click Yes. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation of.net Framework. A message displays when the installation is complete. Note: This message does not display if you selected the Close this dialog box when download completes option. 8. Click OK. Installing the LiveStor Service Center To install the LiveStor Service Center 1. Go to 2. In the LiveStor Service Center box, click Download. The File Download dialog box displays. 3. Click Save. The Save As dialog box displays. 4. To save the LiveStor Service Center setup file, LiveStorClient[v1.0.2].msi, click Save. A message displays when the download is complete. 5. To run the LiveStor Service Center setup program, click Open. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation. When the installation completes, the LiveStor Service Center your desktop. icon displays on Page 4 of 5

5 To open the LiveStor Service Center program 1. Double-click the LiveStor Service Center icon on your desktop. The LiveStor Service Center Configuration Expert opens and a LiveStor icon displays in the system tray of your Windows taskbar. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of LiveStor. You must have your LiveStor user name and password to complete the steps in the configuration. Note: When you open the LiveStor Service Center for the first time, the program reviews your system settings. If a system setting fails, you cannot proceed. If an error occurs, contact LiveStor Customer Support at (800) LiveStor and Security LiveStor is designed around the concept of file security. Livestor has built-in security measures to safeguard your files. Once your data files have been transferred through our secure FTP site, LiveStor stores them on the LiveStor server, a location that cannot be directly accessed by an outside party through the Internet. Additionally, LiveStor stores your data files with unique names instead of their original file names. This separation of information secures the data so that only our system administrators can access the files as needed to provide the LiveStor service. LiveStor and Viruses LiveStor does not scan for viruses. When your data transfers, LiveStor does not open or view the files. Therefore, if your files have viruses, LiveStor will store them. Make sure that you take precautions to protect your data. Page 5 of 5
