System Requirements Pentium IV or higher or Equivalent 1 Gigahertz or more RAM; 2 Gigahertz recommended Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 compatible 32 bit or 64 bit compatible 4
Getting Started ReadyFit 1.0 has been designed with a number of different pages where each page is a step in the process of doing a fitting. Therefore, each page is placed in a fitting process order and can be navigated through by simply clicking of the next and previous arrows near the top of the ReadyFit window. You can also click on the stylized buttons near the top of the window, wait for the related page s buttons to appear and navigate to the desired page. The first thing you need to do is select the programmer type you are using. The default is HiPro. If you are using something other than HiPro, change the programmer under the menu Tools -> Select Programmer Type. -New- Next you should setup the software s write-to-instrument behavior under Edit -> Preferences. If you generally like to make several changes before testing the results, keep the default Off settings. However, if you like to test most changes real-time, enable Autoload. You may also enable the Autolock feature if you do not always complete the fitting to the Finalization page in order to automatically write the settings to the device permanently. 5
Menu Items File -> Open Session and Save Session Sessions refer to fitting sessions under the current patient being fitted, which is shown in the title bar. There are two types of sessions: Audiogram and Instrument. Both can have multiple sessions individually saved in the database under the patient s name. Which session you are opening or saving depends on the page you are viewing. E.g. If you are on the Audiogram page, you are saving an Audiogram session. If you are on the Instrument page or any pages after that, you are saving an instruments session. Use the Open Session to load a previously saved session. Use the Save Session to save the current session. If you choose Save Session and there is already a saved session with today s date in the database, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the most recent session or create a new session. File -> Print In the file submenu there is a standard Windows print option. With this you can print a Fitting Summary Report, which includes the patient name and fitting date, the fitted output graphs, and all the instrument configuration and parameter values Edit -> Undo and Redo -New- The Undo and Redo options only function on the instrument parameters in the fitting 6
pages. There are also undo buttons on those pages. If you have undone something the Redo option will be available so that you can redo what was undone. Edit -> Preferences -New- As mentioned in the Getting Started section, you can now choose to not only Autoload your instruments but also Autolock them as well. With Autoload enabled, any time you make a parameter change it will be applied to the instrument instantly without having to click the Write button. Note, this will slow down the response time of the software because the instrument writes take time. If the Autolock option is enabled, this simply means that the Autoloads are permanently written to the instruments and you are able to disconnect the power to the hearing instrument without losing your current settings. Tools -> Import and Export Client options These features allow for saving and loading of individual patient records to and from the ReadyFit database. Tools -> Database Backup This feature allows a backup of the entire ReadyFit database. This is used in connection with the Import option mentioned previously. 7
Client Info This page is for adding and updating your client records. To read what each button does, simply hover your mouse over the button and a description appears next to the button. Adding a New Client In order to add a new client, enter the client information into the fields and click on the Save/Update Record button to save. Accessing/Editing Existing Clients To access an existing client, find the client s name in the table at the top of the page. A simple click on the patient name will load the patient s data for proceeding with the fitting pages or for editing purposes. Search Three fields are required in order to be able to save a client to the database: First and Last Name and the ID number. Deleting Clients In order to delete a client, click on the client s name from the table and select the Delete button. As a safeguard, a warning message will appear: Are you sure? A confirmation answer is required before a client is deleted from the database. 8
Continuing to the Audiogram Once a patient is loaded, you may proceed directly to the audiogram page. Click on the Use this patient s record and continue to Audiogram now button on the right. Audiogram On the Audiogram page, two graphs for binaural entries appear. The data added to the graphs here and in subsequent pages will always use the color red to indicate the right side and the color blue to indicate the left side. Creating a New Audiogram If a previously recorded audiogram appears on the graphs and new graphs are desired, click on the Add button to generate a new, empty audiogram. Entering Data Into the Audiogram Data may be entered in to ways. 1) Simply draw a graph on the page using your mouse by clicking on the points on the graph. 2) Click on the entry boxes that correspond with the desired frequency and manually enter the patients loss in that box. Saving an Audiogram When changes to the graph are complete, simply click on the Save button to save to database. 9
Instrument Selection Instruments supported by the software appear in a list on this page. Once an instrument is selected, it s image, features and specifications appear along side of it. The cover range appears on the graph below. To close the dialog box with the image, click on the x in the upper right of the box. Instrument Selection To detect the connected devices, click on the Detect any Connected Instruments button at the top of the screen. When the detection has ended, you will only have one device now where the complete list used to be. If the list still appears then no device was detected and you will need to check your connections. To Simulate a fitting, from the list, click on the instrument you want to simulate and click on the arrow on the upper right of the screen. Get Programs from the Database To view data from a previous fitting session, the Get Programs from Database button (looks like an opening folder) at the top of the page will display a list of dates from previous fitting sessions from which to select. 10
Pre-Fitting The pre-fitting page allows for quickfit options and also is where you will assign the amount of memories to be allowed as well as selecting the input modes. Adding Programs Programs may be added to the instruments by selecting the the desired number from the dropdown box next to the word Programs. The number of programs will now change in the box above Input List Quickfit To change the inputs per program: Click on the dropdown list next to the program needing to be changed (P1, P2, P3, etc.). The default in most factory settings will be MIC1. If directionality is desired, simply click on the type of directionality desired i.e. For the PS4 - Cardioid, SuperCardioid, HyperCardioid, For the Independence FDM (Fixed Dir.) or ADM (Automatic Dir.). You will also select the manual t-coil from this list, if ordered. Each program can be quickfit individually using the Quickfit button on the corresponding line of the program. Clicking on the Quickfit button provides a dropdown of sound environments to choose from, or you can do a simply autofit to target the settings applied in the Audiogram page. All programs can be quickfit simply by clicking on the Quickfit All button. 11
Copying Programs Clicking on the Copy button of a program reveals a list of menu items that involve the duplication of the program from the left instrument to the right or vice versa or to replace programs on the same side or opposite side. Automatic Telephone Coil The Independence circuit has the ability to assign a 5 th program for the Auto T-Coil. This is activated simply by checking the box next to the ATC anagram next to where you select the number of programs. Tuning The tuning page allows for a vast array of adjustments to be implemented to the initial Prefitting of the programs. The view of the screen is one or two graphs, whether it is a monaural or binaural fitting, and one or two tables at the bottom. Changes to the gain, compression, MPO, Thresholds, Feedback control, Noise Reduction, and other options are done on this page. Adjustments on the table have been split into two categories, Simple and Advanced. The Simple tab combines channels and frequencies so more broad range of changes can be done at once. The Advanced tab allows for more fine tuning per channel. 12
Changing the Graph and Table Values Values can be changed in the table in two ways: by selecting a field in the table and using the + and - buttons or by selecting a field in the table and using the Roller on the mouse to quickly adjust the values up or down. Changes to the gain can be changed using these methods or by simply clicking and holding the points on the graph to adjust the gains up or down. Other Parameter Values The tab labeled Other Parameters will contain the more detailed features of the hearing instrument. Features such as Noise Reduction, Feedback Canceller, Wind Reduction, Impulse Noise Reduction, etc. These features are adjusted using the same methods as above, by simply clicking on the field in the table and using the mouse roller or using the + and - buttons next to the table. Config Parameters When clicking on the tab labeled Config Parameters, this will open up a new window that contains settings such as Volume Control activation, Switch Tone activation, Low Battery Warning activation, Noise Generator activation and levels (Independence only), etc. These settings are adjusted simply by selecting the desired setting from the dropdown menu next to the feature you desire to adjust. 13
Linking of Sides The association of the adjustments made to the instruments can be linked together so that both sides change at the same time. This can be done by clicking on the Link Graph button near the top of the screen. When the three circles are separate the instruments are not linked. If the circles appear to be linked like a chain then the instruments are now ready to be adjusted simultaneously. Selecting Programs To load data on the different programs in the instrument, choose from the dropdown list at the top center of the page the program you want to adjust (i.e. P1, P2, P3, P4, P5). Adjustment The Adjustment page allows for addressing common patient complaints about specific sound settings. The two graphs on the page represent the left and right instruments. Below the graphs are three boxes entitled Situation, Observation and Suggested Change. Programs The upper left dropdown box provides a list of available programs for the adjustment. 14
Situations The Situation list provides a variety of environments based upon sound level. If a patient has a complaint about a specific sound environment, a sound from that level may be simulated and relayed through a sound field attached to the PC. Use your own judgment as to how loud the sounds should be set to simulate a real life situation. Observation The Observation list provides a variety of possible reactions to the sounds played or common complaints associated with wearing hearing instruments. When clicking on an observation it will display a list of options in the Suggested Change box. Suggested Change The Suggested Change list provides a list of possible remedies to the observation selected. Each remedy may be applied and retested to determine which is the best solution for the particular patient and instrument. When a suggested change is selected, it appear in the box at the center bottom of the screen. Applying, Copying and Undoing the Changes A series of buttons with BTE icons and arrows at the bottom center of the adjustment page allows for changes to be applied to one or both sides. Likewise, if enacted changes are undesirable then simply pressing the Undo button will undo the last adjustment. 15
Datalogging The Datalogging screen details the instrument s use statistics. The Datalogging button is not shown unless the amplifier chosen is the Independence. The dropdown box in the upper left hand side of the screen allows for either the left or right side to be viewed. The statistics shown here are not adjustable but are merely for informational purposes. These statistics can be reset but pressing the Reset All button. When this is pressed all the statistics will be set back to default values. 16
Finalization On the finalization page the current state of the instrument is displayed with its configuration features. The configuration of the Finalizations page has some similar features as seen in previous screens. The upper quadrant of the display list the program and what type of input they received. The lower quadrant provide a list of configurable features. These can be adjusted from here, if desired. From this page the data can be permanently written to the device if the Autolock feature is not active. This is done by pressing the Write to Device button at the bottom of the page. From this page the fitting can be saved to the database for lookup later by pressing the Store to Local Database at the bottom of the screen. The instruments settings and current levels can also be printed by pressing the Print button at the bottom of the screen. 17
