Daikin reserves the right to change any information contained herein without prior notice. The user is responsible for determining whether this software is appropriate for his or her application. The following are tradenames or registered trademarks of their respective companies: Windows from Microsoft Corporation, Intelligent Equipment, Daikin, Rebel, Maverick, Pathfinder, Trailblazer and MicroTech from Daikin Applied. Product Description Introduction The Intelligent Equipment Gateway-on-the-Go configuration utility is a software tool used in conjunction with Gatewayon-the-Go hardware (gateway) and the Intelligent Equipment cloud application. Gateway-on-the-Go hardware can be installed on Trailblazer and Pathfinder air-cooled chillers, and Rebel, Maverick II and RoofPak rooftop air handlers, and offers direct visibility into unit operation. Gateway-onthe-Go is typically installed for start up, commissioning, short-term, remote diagnostics and troubleshooting. The configuration utility configures the gateway hardware, which provides access to Daikin Applied unit information via cellular, Wi-Fi, or LAN connectivity. The gateway must be recommissioned each time it is moved from one piece of equipment to the next. This process includes erasing old data from the gateway, commissioning the gateway for the new unit, and updating unit information in the cloud application. The Gateway-on-the-Go Configuration Utility is an intuitive, Windows-based user interface that completely automates the configuration process. The following document describes how to access, install, and commission/decommission units using the Gateway on the Go Configuration Utility. Getting Started System Requirements Computer with: Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 7 (and newer) Internet Browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10, 11; Chrome 32; Firefox 26 (and newer) Hardware Requirements Ethernet Patch cable (Cat 5, Cat 5E, Cat 6) Gateway power supply (24 VDC) supplied with Gateway-on-the-Go hardware kit 3 OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT

Using the Gateway-on-the-Go Configuration Utility The User Interface The configuration utility user interface consists of three main functional panels as shown in Figure 9: Figure 9: Gateway-on-the-Go Configuration Utility User Interface (1) (2) (3) The header bar (1) The top panel contains the software title, along with three application command buttons. The Help button opens a help screen (Figure 10) that provides a link to an electronic version of this OM, the Daikin Applied website and the Terms and Conditions of the software. It also provides the contact phone number for technical support. For additional information, consult the Troubleshooting and Getting Support section of this document. The Home button returns you to the first step in the configuration process. The Exit button closes the configuration utility. It is important to note that no changes are saved should you exit the configuration utility. The Progress Status panel (2) The left-side Progress Status panel indicates the current status of the gateway reconfiguration process and the computer s internet connection status. The main panel (3) The main panel provides the necessary information to complete the current step within the overall reconfiguration process. It also contains a progress bar where applicable. The configuration utility software version is also shown in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Figure 10: Help Screen 7 OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT
Configuring the Gateway Note: Internet connection to the computer is required in order to configure the gateway. 1. Double-click on the desktop icon to launch the configuration utility. 2. The splash screen displays while the application is loading (Figure 11). 3. If the computer is not connected to the Internet, an error message appears as shown in Figure Once the configuration utility has loaded, the Internet connection status is also indicated by a green square (connected) or red square (not connected) in the left panel of the utility window (Figure 13). Figure 11: Splash Screen Figure 12: Internet Connection Error Figure 13: Internet Connection Status OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 8
5. Connect the computer to the gateway using a standard Ethernet cable (Figure 14). It is important to note that, in order for the configuration utility software to connect to the gateway, your computer s network adapter must be named, Ethernet, Network, or Local Area Connection. For instructions on changing the network adapter name, please consult Windows Help. 6. After connecting the Ethernet cable, click Continue. Note that the Progress Status panel updates to reflect the current step in the configuration process. A green check indicates completed steps, and a red x indicates remaining tasks. 7. Connect the gateway power supply to a standard outlet and click Continue (Figure 15). 8. The screen shown in Figure 16 appears. It displays the current progress of the initialization sequence. NOTE: When the configuration utility is used for the first time, the embedded PuTTy software generates a warning message (Figure 17). This is a standard message and is expected. This message does not appear during subsequent use of the configuration utility. Figure 16: Gateway Powering Up Figure 17: PuTTY Warning Message Figure 14: Connect COMPUTER to Gateway Figure 15: Connect Gateway to Power Source 9 OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT
9. Click the Yes button on the PuTTY warning message screen to continue. 10. Once the gateway has completed the power-up sequence, enter the required fields as shown in Figure 18. These mandatory fields include: the gateway serial number (located on the gateway label), the unit serial number of the equipment on which the gateway is to be installed, the time zone for the unit s physical location, and a contact for a user to be assigned to the unit. 11. Click Continue when finished. 12. At this point, the gateway configures a connection to the Ethernet adapter card on the computer (Figure 19) and begins to establish communication to the gateway. If successful, it then attempts to confirm the MAC address of the gateway (Figure 20). The unit serial number is also checked against the equipment database. NOTE: If any information is entered incorrectly or entered using an incorrect format, a specific error message appears, directing you to correct the problem. All fields must be populated and in proper format prior to proceeding. Figure 18: Enter Required Information Figure 19: Setting LAN Adapter Figure 20: Confirming MAC Address OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 10
13. Once the MAC address is verified as shown in Figure 21, confirm the unit information provided in Figure 22. This information is based on the unit serial number entered previously. 14. If all information is correct, then click Continue. NOTE: If the configuration utility determines that the unit already is already supported by Intelligent Equipment, it does not allow the Gateway-on-the-Go to continue configuring the unit. If any information is incorrect, click the Undo button (the blue circle with white arrow) to return to the Unit Serial Number entry screen. 15. Click the Yes button in the pop-up message that appears to begin the process of erasing the gateway (Figure 23). Figure 21: Gateway MAC Address Verified Figure 22: Confirm Unit Information Figure 23: Confirm Gateway Erase and Reconfiguration 11 OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT
16. At this point, the configuration utility begins an automated sequence of steps to remove old data, cleanup, and reconfigure the gateway as described in the following section. The automated process begins when the configuration utility connects to the equipment database and confirms the values for each of the fields shown in Figure Once all the data is verified, the old gateway data is erased (Figure 25). 18. After erasing the old data, the configuration utility reconfigures the gateway for the new unit (Figure 26). 19. Next, it resets the computer s network adapter (Figure 27). Figure 24: Verifying Unit Fields Figure 25: Erasing Gateway Data Figure 26: Reconfiguring the Gateway Figure 27: Resetting Network Adapter OM 1268 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 12
20. The old device data is then removed from the cloud (Figure 28). 21. Once the device data is removed from the cloud, the final step is for the configuration utility to reboot the gateway (Figure 29). 22. Upon successful completion, each task in the Progress Status panel are verified with a green check. Once the confirmation screen appears (Figure 30), disconnect the Ethernet cable from the COMPUTER and the gateway, disconnect the gateway from the power supply, and disconnect the gateway power supply from 120 VAC. 14 Troubleshooting and Technical Assistance Troubleshooting and Technical Assistance Troubleshooting 1. If the configuration utility indicates that there is no Internet connection (i.e. the Connection Status icon is red as shown in Figure 31): a. If using Ethernet, i. Check that your computer is connected to a network hub or switch using an Ethernet patch cable. ii. Verify that the network hub or switch has Internet connectivity. iii. Try connecting the patch cable to a different port on the network hub or switch. iv. Go to the Windows Control Panel and verify that the computer s LAN adapter is enabled (consult Windows Help for more information). v. Go to the Windows Control Panel and verify that the computer s LAN IP address is compatible with the network s IP addressing scheme (consult Windows Help for more information). b. If using Wi-Fi: i. Go to the Windows Control Panel and verify that the computer s wireless adapter is enabled (consult Windows Help for more information). ii. Go to the Windows Control Panel and verify that the computer s wireless IP address is compatible with the network s IP addressing scheme (consult Windows Help for more information). iii. If using a Wi-Fi hotspot, confirm that the hotspot is enabled and connected to the Internet. 2. If the configuration utility window has extra space on the right side and bottom of the screen (Figure 32): a. The computer may be configured for an incompatible scaling. This may hide some of the buttons and messages, making the software difficult to use. To correct this, go to the Windows Control Panel Display options and select 100% scaling (Figure 33). After applying this change, the configuration utility should display correctly. Figure 32: Incompatible Display Scaling Figure 33: Windows Display Scaling Figure 31: No Internet Connection Technical Assistance For additional assistance, contact the Daikin Applied Controls Customer Support group at or DaikinControls@daikinapplied.com.
