1 Absolute Manager How-To ios Devices Please note: This page is for registering Apple devices (ipads, iphones). The following will not work on Android devices. Please follow these steps to get your Apple device registered with the UT Health Science Center Mobile Device Management server. What This Will Do Pursuant to HOP , all mobile devices which utilize University resources must be enrolled with the UT Health Science Center Mobile Device Management server. Following the steps below will enroll your Apple device. To change your device s name, go to Settings -> General -> About -> Name. From there, you can change the name. Once you ve finished, simply click the Done button. Once enrolled, the following changes will be made to the mobile device: 1. The device will require the use of a personal identification number (PIN) to unlock the device; 2. The PIN will need to be changed every three (3) months; 3. Backups will be required to be encrypted; and 4. After six (6) failed attempts to enter the PIN, all content on the mobile device will be wiped clean. Step One: Give Your Device a Unique Name Rename your device. It is important that your device name be unique. The standardd used at the Health Science Center is userid iphone; or userid ipad. So, if your userid is smithj, your iphone should be named smithj iphone. If you have multiple iphones, append a number to the end of the device name: smithj ipad smithj ipad 2 smithj iphone smithj iphone 2 smithj iphone 3 iphone: Change Device Name Page 1

2 Step two: Enroll Your Device Now that you ve uniquely named your device, it is time to enroll it with the Absolute Manage server. From your Apple device, click the following link: Enter your University userid and password. In the Domain field, enter uthscsa. You willl be presented with a login screen. 3 You willl then see the Install Profile screen. Click the Install button. A pop-up window willl inform you thatt the profile is unsigned. Click the Install Now button. AbMan Enrollment: Install Profile 01 AbMan Enrollment: Install Profile 02 Page 3

4 If you have a passcode, you will be prompted for it. Enter your passcode here. You will then receive an informational warning screen. Click the Install button. AbMan Enrollment: Install Profile 03 AbMan Enrollment: Install Profile 04 Page 4

5 Once the installation is complete, you will see the following confirmationn screen. Click the Done button. When you re presentedd with the following screen, you re ready for Step Three. AbMan Enrollment: Install Profile 05 AbMan Enrollment: Complete Note: After enrollment is completed, if you re already using a PIN on your device, you may be required to change it at this time. The systemm will require you to enter your existing PIN and then enter your new PINN twice. Page 5

6 Step Three: Install AbsoluteApps Now that you are enrolled and have installed the University profile, you need to install the AbsoluteApp from the itunes store. On your device, open your App Store app and click the Search button: Tap into the search area at the top of the screen and enter absoluteapp. Click on the result absoluteapps. 7 Select AbsoluteApps: Tap the install button and enter your itunes account credentials when asked. The applicationn will download and install to your device. App Store Search 03 App Store Search 04 Step Four: Configure AbsoluteApps On your device, locate e and tap the AbsoluteApps icon. It looks like this: AbsoluteApp icon Page 7

8 If you re asked if AbsoluteApps can send push notifications, allow it. You willl be presented with a Server Setup screen. In the address field, enter mdm.uthscsa.edu. Leave the Port setting at 443, then tap the OK button located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Once done, you ll see the following screen which indicates you ve successfully completedd the AbsoluteApp installation. Click the home button on your device to continue. 9 Step Five: Device Notifications Locate AbsoluteApps and tap it: On your device, tap the Settings icon. It looks like this: ios Settings icon Tap Notifications: AbsoluteApp Setup: Notification Center AbsoluteApp Setup: Notification Center Page 9
