8 CSM Exterior Power button Ports: 1. Battery compartment (behind cover): Houses the battery (captive screw secures cover to monitor) 2. NIBP: Connects NIBP cable to monitor 3. USB client port: Provides a connection to an external computer for testing and software upgrades 4. USB port: Connects APM work surface to monitor 5. Power connection: Connects APM work surface or any accessory to the monitor 6. Ethernet RJ-45: Provides a hardwired connection to the computer network 7. Nurse call: Provides a connection to a hospital nurse call system 8. SpO 2 : Connects chosen SpO 2 system to monitor 9. 11 Screen Lock mode* Screen Lock mode helps protect patient-identifiable information during clinical use and increases visibility of vitals. To Unlock the Screen: 1. Touch the Lock icon 2. Follow Clinician login process Note: Screen Lock mode is initiated by configurable period of inactivity or via a manual lock decision. MC

12 Clinician login screen Optional clinician login screen restricts access to protected health information. You can sign in to the monitor in two ways: 1. Sign in using the login screen (if your facility has chosen a login format) Using the keyboard or barcode scanner, enter your ID, password*, and then touch Sign in. The Profile selection area becomes active and contains from one to three profiles. Select the desired profile. Return to Table of Contents MC

13 Clinician login screen Optional clinician login screen restricts access to protected health information. You can sign in to the monitor in two ways: 1. Sign in using the login screen (if your facility has chosen a login format) Using the keyboard or the barcode scanner, enter your ID, password*, and then touch Sign in. The Profile selection area becomes active and contains from one to three profiles. Select the desired profile. 2. Sign in using the Clinician tab (if your facility has not chosen a login format) Touch the Clinician symbol. Using the keyboard or barcode scanner, enter your ID, password*, and then touch Sign in. The Clinician ID appears in the Clinician ID field on this tab and in the Status area on the Home tab. Return to Table of Contents MC

14 The Primary Screen The primary screen is divided into three sections: 1. Device Status Area 2. Content Area 3. Primary Navigation Area Let s look at each area. Return to Table of Contents MC

15 Primary Screens: Device Status Area Provides device status information, including: Clinician ID Device location (i.e. nursing unit)* Time Connection status (i.e. Ethernet, Wireless, USB, or Bluetooth ) Profile Selection (i.e. Spot, Office, or Intervals) Battery status Alarms and Messages Return to Table of Contents MC

16 Primary Screens: Content Area Displays: Information determined by the primary or global navigation tab chosen at the bottom of the screen. The content area also may have vertical tabs on the left side of the screen that relate to the primary navigation tab chosen. It also can display summary information on current vital signs. 18 Spot Profile Features: No alarms No BP intervals Take SpO 2 sensor OFF prior to touching SAVE Provides Early Warning Scores (EWS) if applicable Return to Table of Contents MC

19 Intervals Profile Features: Automatic, Program, and Stat interval settings Parameter alarms SpO 2 sensor should stay ON while you touch SAVE Provides EWS if applicable Return to Table of Contents MC

20 Office Profile Features: No alarms Averaging interval program enables you to record the patient's average NIBP readings over a set period of time. Take SpO 2 sensor OFF prior to touching SAVE HT, WT, RR, Pain, and BMI if applicable Return to Table of Contents MC

21 Early Warning Scores (EWS)* Features: Provides a facility the capability to calculate Early Warning Scores at the device Scoring system is determined by facility Available only in Spot and Intervals Profile Scoring summary will alert staff if further clinician notification is required *If applicable to your facility Return to Table of Contents MC

23 Changing Profiles To change Profiles: 1. Touch the current Profile shown in the Device Status Area 2. *Choose the appropriate profile. Your choices may include: Spot, Intervals AND/OR Office. Note: If you change the profile while acquiring patient measurements or while unsaved patient measurements are displayed, the measurements are deleted. 24 Taking a Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP) Proper technique is very important for accurate readings Uses SureBP technology that captures BP on cuff inflation Will revert to Step deflation method in times of extreme movement artifact Neonate mode if programmed to do so via Advanced Settings Touch the to initiate a BP. Touch the to cancel a BP in progress. * Note: Touch the NIBP frame to change between SYS/DIA and MAP. Return to Table of Contents MC

27 Initiating Interval Blood Pressures 1. Touch Screen within the BP frame on the Home 2. Intervals Profile choose Automatic or Program or Stat 3. Office Profile Choose Averaging 4. The monitor comes with six custom programs. One program is always available for you to customize to meet your specific needs. 32 Setting up Automatic Interval Blood Pressures: Averaging You must be in the Office profile to access Averaging intervals. Choose a preconfigured program name (ex. Quick Average or White Coat) Can configure up to 4 Averaging programs and can set up in Advanced Settings or by using the online Product Configuration Tool Touch Start Intervals Return to Table of Contents MC

33 Stopping Interval Blood Pressures To stop intervals entirely Press within the BP frame on the Home Screen Touch Stop Intervals To stop one single interval reading Press within the BP frame on the Home Screen The next interval reading will occur at the appropriate time as scheduled You can take BP readings in between scheduled intervals without interrupting the interval schedule Return to Table of Contents MC

34 Obtaining SpO 2 and Pulse Rate Uses Nellcor, Masimo, or Nonin PureSat technology Clean sensor (alcohol pad) No nail polish/artificial nails Warm/perfused extremity Place on opposite limb of blood pressure cuff if possible Pulse Rate comes from SpO 2 unless only a BP is taken, in which case the PR comes from the NIBP reading Note: Tap the SpO 2 frame to view the pleth waveform Return to Table of Contents MC

37 Taking a Temperature with SureTemp Plus Direct Mode If the probe is left out of the well for 60 sec or a patient s temperature is too cold for a predictive measurement (fast mode), the thermometer will go nto a direct mode (as indicated). Readings must be measured for 3 min rectal/oral or 5 min axillary. There will not be an indicator beep when measurement is complete. User must record reading. Probe Covers Use only Welch Allyn Probe covers. Covers are designed specifically for SureTemp Plus and are single use only. Probe Well Well can be removed for cleaning. Blue probe/well for oral/axillary and red is for rectal. Return to Table of Contents MC

39 Taking a Temperature Using SureTemp Plus: Oral & Axillary Oral Temperatures: Pull probe from well and apply probe cover Listen for short beep Place probe in sublingual pocket Thermometer will beep when reading is complete (4-6 secs) Press top of probe to release cover, then return probe to well Axillary Temperatures: Pull probe from well and apply probe cover Listen for short beep Press Mode selection button to select Adult Axillary or Peds Axillary Place probe vertically in axilla (Think: Align with the spine ) Thermometer will beep when reading is complete (12-15 secs) Press top of probe to release cover, then return probe to well MC12694 Proper probe placement is vital to obtaining an accurate reading *Use ONLY Welch Allyn Probe Covers 39 Return to Table of Contents

40 Taking a Temperature Using SureTemp Plus: Rectal Insert red probe and probe well into device Listen for short beep Pull probe from well and apply probe cover* Place probe in rectum (3/8 in) Lubrication is optional (if used, account for heating lubrication if at room temperature and use minimal amount) Thermometer will beep when reading is complete (4-6 secs) Press top of probe to release cover, then return probe to well *Use ONLY Welch Allyn Probe Covers Return to Table of Contents MC

41 Manual Parameter Entry and Clear Function Automated parameters can now be manually entered or cleared, depending on configurations. To manually enter or clear a value: 1. Press and hold the desired parameter frame 2. Type the desired value in the keypad 3. Press OK 4. To clear a value touch the and press OK Return to Table of Contents MC

43 Alarm Management: Changing Alarms in Intervals Profile From the Home screen, touch the alarm limits control in the selected parameter frame (i.e. NIBP or Pulse Rate) Enter the desired upper and lower alarm limits using the up/down arrows or keypad To turn alarm limits off or on, use the ON/OFF toggle button If alarm limits are off, no visual or audio alarm signals will occur for that parameter. The alarm icon changes on the Home tab in that parameter frame as shown Note: Alarms may also be adjust by touching the Alarms tab. Return to Table of Contents MC

45 Alarm Management: Intervals Profile Alarms occur when vital sign measurements fall outside of set alarm limits The Status area illuminates as follows: Flashing red for high priority alarms Flashing amber for medium priority alarms Steady amber for low priority alarms Cyan for very low priority/ technical alarms Blue for Information messages To silence/suspend an alarm, touch the triangle in the top left corner OR touch the highlighted parameter frame Return to Table of Contents MC

46 Entering Manual Parameters and Modifiers* From the Home screen, touch the Manual parameters area (height, weight, pain, respirations) pictured below. This may also include Modifiers such as BP site, cuff size, etc. Touch parameter box and use keypad icon located within each manual parameter and/or modifiers to enter desired number. Touch Next to confirm and return to the Home tab. If a parameter is required, a Skip button appears at the bottom of the parameters, and a Next button appears in the lower-right corner of the screen. Note: During intervals, each automatic and manual save of patient measurements clears all measurements from the Manual parameters frame. 47 Clear and Saving Vital Signs 1. Press the Save button to record the vitals to the Review tab Unless configured differently, pressing Save clears all readings and the patient information The Clinician ID remains until the user signs out If configured, pressing Save will automatically send the readings to the network In Intervals Profile, when using Automatic, Program, or Stat, vitals are saved to the Review tab automatically 2. The Clear button erases all data except Clinician ID from the Home screen Note: To ensure data integrity and patient confidentiality, save readings and clear the monitor's display between patients. 48 Reviewing Vital Signs Multi-Patient View The Review tab displays patient data that has been previously captured. Data can be viewed for a single patient or for multiple patients. The Review tab displays both core and custom parameters and also provides controls including View, Send* and Delete 1. Touch the Review tab 400 readings can be stored for up to 24 hours 2. To select a vital sign, touch the check box to the left of the reading; a checkmark will appear Options: Send to transmit the records to the network* Delete to permanently remove the records MC12694 Return to Table of Contents 48
