1 Note: Act Today provide this KB article as a courtesy however accept no responsibility for content or the recipient performing these steps How To Download and Apply Sage ACT! 2011 Premium Service Pack 1 (SP1) You would like to download install Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Sage ACT! Pro 2011, Sage ACT! Premium 2011, and Sage ACT! Premium 2011 (access via web). Answer The Sage ACT! 2011 SP1 release is focused on improving the quality of Sage ACT! 2011 and some usability enhancements related to navigating the application and using key features. This list is provided to improve your installation and overall use experience of Sage ACT! 2011 SP1. Download & Installation My Installed Version: This update is intended only for Sage ACT! 2011 Version (the Hot Fix number is not relevant). Use the following steps to determine your installed version of ACT!: 1. Launch ACT! 2. Click Help menu, and then select About ACT!. 3. The About ACT! dialog box appears. The version number appears near the top of this box. Important Notes Before Applying the Sage ACT! 2011 SP1 Sage ACT! 2011 users cannot share the same database with users who have applied Sage ACT! 2011 SP1, as applying the update will also update the database as well. All users in a workgroup must be on the same version to access and take advantage of the new release. It is strongly recommended that you first update the server installation and database, then proceed to client workstations and remote computers. If you are using ACT! Network Sync service or ACT! Internet Sync service, you must also update these services to SP1 as well. You can update these services using the files found in the File Attachments section at the bottom of this article. You will first need to save these zipped files to your desktop. After you have saved them you desktop, you will need to unzip (extract) them to your ACT! program files directory (C:Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows), then open the ACT! Network Sync or ACT Internet Sync directory and click the setup.exe file found in there. Before installing the updated service, you must first uninstall the current sync service. Please see the following Knowledgebase articles for instructions: Download Sage ACT! 2011 SP1 1. Click the following link to access the Download Centre on the ACT.com website:

2 2. Make the appropriate selections for your product, version and locale. 3. Click on English and then click Download Now. 4. The File Download - Security Warning dialog box appears. 5. Click Save. The Save As dialog box appears. Browse to your desktop, then click Save. Applying Sage ACT! 2011 SP1 1. Close ACT!, and the following Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook. 2. Ensure you are logged on to your computer with local Administrative rights. 3. Double-click the ACT! Update file. The Unpacking ACT! progress indicator briefly appears, followed by the following dialog box: 4. Once the preparing process is complete, the InstallShield Wizard - Welcome dialog box appears: 5. Click Next. The License Agreement dialog box appears. Read the License Agreement and click Accept.

3 6. The Setup Status dialog box appears while the update is being applied. 7. When the Setup and Installation has been completed, the InstallShield Wizard dialog box appears:

4 8. Click Finish to finalize the installation. 9. After you click Finish, the installation screen will close and then Sage ACT! will automatically open. When you open your local database, you will get a prompt that the database needs to be updated. Click Yes to do a backup of your database (strongly recommended): Note: In a shared database setup, the database update only needs to be done on the server hosting the main database. This will also need to be done for any locally hosted remote databases that sync to the main database. 10. After the backup is complete, you will get a prompt to update the database. Click OK to perform the update: 11. The following status box will appear while the database is updating to the new version of Sage ACT! 2011:

5 12. After the update completes, the following dialog box will display. Click OK to open the database. 13. After the database opens, verify the correct version is now installed by clicking Help from the main menu, then About ACT!. Your installed version of ACT! should now be Version , as indicated below: New Features & Enhancements This release addresses minor enhancements to Smart Tasks, performance of Outlook Synchronization, and backing up ACT! databases. Smart Tasks The ability to create workflows in Sage ACT! was enhanced by introducing a fixed integer for scheduling Smart Tasks. Now, instead of only being able to schedule Smart Tasks daily, weekly or monthly, users can schedule them every X days, weeks or months (example: Run this Smart Task every 3 weeks). Outlook Synchronization Improved overall performance of Outlook Synchronization. Save/Copy Database Improved the performance of Saving or Copying a database Fixed Issues for Sage ACT! Pro and Sage ACT! Premium (access via Windows )

6 Contacts When switching between layouts on the Contact detail view, the history dialog was blank. This issue has been resolved. In previous releases, Yes/No fields would cause object reference errors when placed on the list view. This issue has been resolved. Calendars/Activities/Alarms In previous releases, when changing the regional settings to New Zealand, users would receive an error when opening the application that a valid date/time was not recognized. This issue has been resolved. When right clicking on the white space in the calendar and changing filters, if users logged out of Sage ACT! and logged back in, their filter changes were not saved from the previous session. This issue has been resolved. History Annual event fields were recording history for the wrong date. This issue has been resolved. Users attempting to record history by printing a mail merge were unable to do so. This issue has been resolved. Import/Export When attempting to export contacts to another database, if users had disabled duplicate checking in both the source and the destination database, they were unable to successfully export. This issue has been resolved. Layouts When changing border properties to something other than the default (3D), the change was not respected. This issue has been resolved. Lookups/Keyword Search When performing a lookup via right click on a memo field, users were unable to complete the action. This issue has been resolved. Users were unable to minimize the keyword search dialog. This issue has been resolved. Opportunities In previous releases, when adding a product to an Opportunity by duplicating the product, the currency fields were not included in the duplication. This issue has been resolved. When creating an activity from an Opportunity, the regarding field was not pre-populated. This issue has been resolved. Smart Tasks When setting a Smart Task to auto-run, if the first step of the Smart Task was an that was set to run without prompting the user and there were subsequent steps after the , the would send, but any subsequent steps would not run. This issue has been resolved. Web Info Tab When using fields from spillover tables to create dynamic links in the Web Info tab, the information would not pull from the database. This issue has been resolved.
