1 SINUMERIK 810D / 840D 02/07/2004 Upgrade Instructions SINUMERIK 810D / 840D HMI Advanced Upgrade Instructions, SW FC5253-6BX10-4AG Installation on PCU 50 / 70 : A PCU 50 / 70 with WinNT4.0 V PCU basic software (or higher) already installed or WinXP V PCU basic software (or higher) is required for the installation of this software. If a PCU 50 is provided with the WinNT4.0 V06.01.xx PCU basic software, this software must first be upgraded to V using service pack The HMI Advanced software includes the HMI Base software HMI Advanced also displays all texts in the six languages English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Chinese Simplified, whereas the help feature for setting data and machine data is generally offered in German and English only. Please read the documentation "Start-up functions for HMI Advanced (IM4)"! Please note the general conditions for the HMI Advanced 6.4 software! General notes on the installation of the HMI Advanced software: An existing HMI software will be recognized, and an update will be installed which will retain all data. All files in the F:\USER, F:\ADD_ON, F:\OEM directories are retained. It is therefore important that modifications to the.ini files are performed in these directories and not in F:\MMC2 or F:\HMI_ADV. Important: Reboot your computer after the installation of HMI Advanced as requested by the InstallShield wizard. Next, start up HMI Advanced and boot again. HMI Advanced will be operable only after the execution of these two steps. Important: After the installation of HMI Advanced 6.4, it is no longer possible to return to HMI Advanced 6.1 or 6.2, even if HMI Advanced 6.4 is uninstalled. An existing ghost image must be used in this case. The HMI Advanced software includes Acrobat Reader 4 which is used for the help feature. Please note that the HMI Advanced help feature can become inoperative if an Acrobat Reader version 5 or higher is installed. The HMI Advanced software includes installable versions of the V technology cycles for drilling/milling and turning and V measuring cycles. They are available as archives in the Archives / Cycle Archives directory which also includes the upgrading instructions for the standard and measuring cycles in the SIEMENSD.ARC (German) or SIEMENSE.ARC (English) files (readable under Services using the editor). Notes on mouse operation: Please note the following restrictions when using your mouse for operating the HMI Advanced software: Values entered in an edit box cannot be activated via a mouse click. The <input> key must be pressed instead. It is not possible to select entries via a double click. It is not possible to use the mouse to execute copy/paste functions in the editor. The context menu displayed when clicking with the right mouse button always shows English texts and does not always correspond to the Windows functionality. The focus can be set to certain screen areas, which would not be possible via a key operation. This can lead to unfamiliar operating behavior. New features compared to software version ) Compatibility 1.1) Installation from CD-ROM using a parallel cable Standard procedure via INTERSVR on PC / PG with FAT16 ================= The delivered CD-ROM including the system software is required for installation. INTERSVR / INTERLNK is used for transmission to the PCU50 / MMC103 unit. This is not possible under DOS / Win3.11 / Win95 / Win98 unless a hard disk partition with an FAT16 file structure (not FAT32!) is available on the PG/PC. SWITCH OFF THE CONTROL UNIT! Connect the LPT parallel port of the PG/PC to the LPT1 port of the PCU 50/70 using the parallel transmission cable (PC link cable, LapLink cable). Copy the HMI_Advanced directory from the CD to hard-disk drive C:\ of your PG/PC and rename it to MMC102. If drive C: does not provide sufficient memory capacity, you may also use another local hard-disk drive. Installation directly from the CD is not possible (but refer to procedure for FAT32).! If the INTERSVR.EXE does not yet exist, copy it from the CD to C:\<Windows Directory>\COMMAND. Call up INTERSVR <drive with MMC102>, for example INTERSVR C: Start the PCU 50/70 and select the service menu during startup via the <cursor down>, <input> keys when the message "Please select the operating system to start:" is displayed. Next, select 1 Install/update SINUMERIK system, enter the password and then select 2 Install via serial/parallel line The HMI Advanced software is now transmitted to the PCU. Afterwards, the system prompts you to reboot the PCU. The installation is automatically performed after the WinNT startup, guided by the INSTALLSHIELD wizard. The InstallShield prompt boxes can be operated with the TAB, cursor and input keys and the Reinstallation button can be activated via the space bar. After rebooting the PCU 50/70 again, the system starts up with HMI Advanced software version Press Alt + F4 to exit the PC/PG server mode. 1.2) SOFTWARE UPGRADE from CD-ROM via parallel cable Procedure via INTERLNK on PC / PG with FAT32 This procedure must be applied if no partitions other than those including an FAT32 data structure are available on the PC being used. The delivered CD-ROM including the system software is required for installation. Copy the INTERLNK.EXE from the CD to the <Windows Directory>\COMMAND of the PC. Enter the following line into CONFIG.SYS: device=c:\windows\command\interlnk.exe /AUTO Connect the LPT parallel port of the PG/PC to the LPT1 port of the PCU 50/70 using the parallel transmission cable (PC link cable, LapLink cable). 3 Start the PCU 50/70 and select the service menu during startup via the <cursor down>, <input> keys when the message "Please select the operating system to start:" is displayed. Next, select 8 Start PC Link INTERSVR is started after entering the password and now waits for connection to the PC which is established by booting the PC. Afterwards, you can access the partitions of the PCU hard disk from the PC. Now copy the entire contents of the HMI_Advanced directory from the CD to the D:\INSTALL directory of the PCU. As soon as the transmission has been completed, press Alt + F4 to exit INTERSVR on the PCU. After booting the PCU in WinNT / WinXP, the installation is automatically executed via INSTALLSHIELD. When the PCU 50/70 is rebooted again, the system starts up with HMI Advanced version ) SOFTWARE UPGRADE from CD-ROM to PCU 50/70 via network This type of installation requires an existing network connection of the PCU 50/70 which allows direct data transfer to the hard disk of the PCU 50/70. This connection can be established in the DOS service menu on the PCU 50/70 using the TCP/IP protocol (service menu 2.4 or higher) under the menu item 1 Install/update SINUMERIK system The software to be installed is copied to D:\INSTALL on the PCU 50/70 as described in chapter 1.2 and then installed automatically. Alternatively: The network connection is established under the WinNT / XP desktop and the installation is executed directly from the delivered CD by calling up SETUP.EXE. 3.) 4 programming 6FC6253-0AF03-0AA0) released for field tests only Fast simulation for mold making Templates for workpieces Simulation: Consideration of all types of tool offset Notes on multi-channel step sequence programming: The following requirements must be met to determine the time required: The workpiece concerned must be selected in the NC ( Select softkey in Program area, for example) The workpiece or the DAT file must not be in process. All channels involved must be in the RESET status. All channels involved (specified in the DAT file) or their mode groups must be in the AUTO status. The number of protocol files in the NC ($MN_MM_PROTOC_NUM_FILES[0]) must be equal to or greater than the number of channels involved. The number of ETPD lists ($MN_MM_PROTOC_NUM_ETPD_STD_LIST[0]) must be set to at least twice the number of part programs involved. User 1 must be activated in the NC ($MC_MM_PROTOC_USER_ACTIVE[0]). When activating the time determination feature, the system can display HMI alarms which do not yet have a text message. These text messages are: NC configuration not yet determined Initialization not yet performed Workpiece selection missing Workpiece status (%1) could not be determined Workpiece (%1) is currently being machined Fault in workpiece (%1) Not all channels involved are in RESET mode Not all channels involved are in AUTO mode. Start-up: Start-up support for master-slave interfaces Measuring function for coupled axes Option "APC 6FC5251-0AF04-0AA0 (released for NCU-SW V and higher) is supported by HMI Adv. version 6.4 and higher Filters for machine data display 4.) Compatibility The HMI Advanced software version can be combined with the 840D NCU software, version 5.3 or higher, as well as with CCU3, version 6.x or higher. CCU1 / 2 is no longer supported. The simulation is based on NCU software version (51.03). The help system is based on the NCU/CCU-SW 7.1 documentation. NC alarm texts are based on NCU / CCU3 software version 7.1. AUTOTURN 5.2 is executable. STEP7 for SINUMERK PCU 50/70 version 5.1 or higher can be installed and executed under HMI Advanced. "Emergency Boot Disks", version V2.4.x or higher, are required for systems based on WinXP. OEM: 16-bit applications based on WinXP are no longer supported and executable. Note: Due to functional extensions, additional communication resources are required if HMI Advanced is operated in the connected NCU(s) / CCU3(s). NC alarm 5000 is displayed if the communication resources are not sufficient. The communication resources available are specified via the MM_NUM_MMC_UNITS NC machine data. The default value 6 is sufficient for the operation of an HMI Advanced on an NCU / CCU3, whereas Siemens AG, Page 4 of 5

5 NC MD = 8 is required for simultaneous operation of two HMI Advanced units (2 PCUs) on one single NCU. The operation of additional software components with HMI Advanced may also require the extension of NC MD to avoid alarm Note: The use of a PCU 50 with 256MB of RAM is also recommended when using the multi-channel sequencer programming, simulation, and double-channel display features as well as for the installation of add-on products for the HMI Advanced software.
