1 BODY GEOMETRY CONNECT V2 SUPPORT MATERIAL OVERVIEW Specialized is always looking to increase efficiency and one way that this can be done in bike fitting is to speed up the process of adding bike fit results into the computer. Previously fitters would hand write the Pre Fit Assessment form and manually enter it in the computer at some later time. The explosion of tablet technology means there is now the concept of electronic forms. With Body Geometry Connect fitters can now use electronic forms in an ipad app to record the Pre Fit Assessment data and then push (save) it to the Body Geometry Fit Video Capture PC for immediate use. CONCEPT The full Body Geometry Connect system is made up of 2 separate bits of software and both parts are needed for the system to work properly. The ipad app has the data input interface but also a connection component that looks for a BG Fit Video Capture PC running the Body Geometry Connect PC software module. The PC also has a module looking for an ipad running the BG Connect ipad app to connect to. Once they have found each other they can communicate and send data back and forth over your Wi Fi. WHAT YOU NEED Any Apple ipad V2 or later running ios 7 or greater. The Body Geometry Connect app does not use a cellular connection so a Wi Fi only ipad is adequate. A secure Wi Fi network that has a strong signal in your fitting area. A computer with a fully functioning copy of V4 of the Body Geometry Fit Video Capture software. This computer must be connected to the internet (Wi Fi or Ethernet). If your shop has a complex Wi Fi network you may need to buy another Wireless Router (more information below). The ipad only uses Wi Fi. Check is that both devices are on the same Wi Fi network as shown in the image below.

2 SETTING UP YOUR HARDWARE Setting up your equipment correctly is critical as this system relies on a strong reliable wireless (Wi Fi) network. 2 Note: The same Wi Fi network box (router) must be used to connect the PC and ipad. The PC can be connected using an Ethernet cable or over the Wi Fi network as shown in the image below. The ipad only uses Wi Fi. Check is that both devices are on the same Wi Fi network as shown in the image below. In this example both the devices are on a Wireless network called SSSS (Note: You will have your own Wi Fi name listed here). BG FIT Video Capture PC ipad Settings GETTING YOUR SOFTWARE The full Body Geometry Connect system is made up of 2 separate bits of software. Body Geometry Connect ipad App (V2) The Body Geometry Fit Connect ipad app is delivered from the Specialized XX secure website. Note: It is not delivered from the App Store like V1 and the app as has virtually no functionality without being connected to the computer. To access the app: 1. Start the web browser (Safari) on your ipad. 2. Go to and log in (your store will have a login to this site, if you don t know it check with the store manager). 3. Choose to download the BG Fit Connect app. 4. Wait for it to install. 5. You are now set on the ipad so follow the instruction below for the PC part of the system.

3 Body Geometry Connect PC module This PC module connects the ipad to the PC. The Module is part of V4 and cannot be purchased separately. You must be using V4 or greater (see version number under ABOUT on the top menu). The ipad app connects directly to the BG Fit Video Capture database on the BG Fit Video Capture computer over the Wi Fi. In fact the BG Fit Video Capture software does not even need to be running for the ipad to access your customer data (or course the computer and Wi Fi must be running!). From a user perspective there is virtually no change to the interface of the PC program whether the ipad app is connected or not. In fact the only way you can tell if the ipad module is even working on the PC is to go to ABOUT from the top menu and you will see the status near the bottom of the About Window as shown in the image below. Make sure BG Connect is Enabled. If not go to the Trouble Shooting section at the end of this guide. 3 Status of plug in Modules SETTING UP YOUR SOFTWARE Body Geometry Fit Video Capture V4 Once V4 is installed there is nothing to do on the PC as it is all automatic. BG Connect ipad App Your first attempt to make the connection between the PC and the ipad should be to use your current Wi Fi setup. Note: It must be set up as outlined in the previous Hardware section. If you have no automatic connection after about 30 seconds you may have to help the ipad find the PC. From the BG Connect Home screen on your ipad press the START then OPTIONS buttons and wait up to 20 seconds. Your computer s name should appear on the list. Use your finger to select it and then wait until the status says Connected. Now press the HOME button in the upper left to return to the Home page. Wait another 10 seconds. If there is no connection try the whole process again. Note: You will see your computer not ours and normally will only see one computer. In this example we had 2 PC systems connected for testing. List of available computers. Note: If you cannot see your computer you will need to do some system testing. Work through the Advanced Detection section at the end of this guide.

4 USING YOUR SOFTWARE The BG Connect ipad app is designed to parallel the workflow of the PC program you are already familiar with. 4 In the BG Connect ipad app you can: Select previous customers and review their PDF reports. Create new customers. Enter/edit the Visit Details. Enter/Edit the Pre Fit assessment. Enter/Edit the Initial bike and shoe measurements. Notes: You can only ever be working on one customer at a time. You cannot save a customer on the ipad then start another. You can however save them back to the PC, then work on another customer, save that back to the PC and then reload the original customer. The ipad app only works in Portrait mode. The PDF report created from the ipad is only a Stub Report and does not display all your data. You need to select that report and choose to Edit it (or Copy and Edit). Then you will see all your visit and Pre Fit Assessment data. Now you can continue your analysis on the PC as normal. You cannot edit your pull down menus on the ipad, only on the PC. However your PC edits will be transferred to the ipad next time you start it. Workflow Suggested workflow for a new customer: ON THE PC 1. Start BG Fit Video Capture PC. ON THE IPAD 2. Start the BG Connect ipad app. 3. Choose START then NEW RIDER. 4. Fill in the Rider Details, Visit Details, the Pre Fit Assessment data and the Initial Bike and Shoe measurements (where applicable). 5. 9 TROUBLE SHOOTING If you are having trouble connecting the ipad to the PC, here are 2 tests so see if your Service is running (the Service is the software that connects your BG Fit PC and your ipad).

Try Option 1 first. Advanced Detection: Option 1 Keep moving through the Steps until you have success. 1. Make sure you hardware is set up as in the Hardware section above. If it is not, don t bother going any further here and get your hardware set up correctly. 2. The first thing to try is restarting your ipad. This means powering it off using the top on/off button and not just closing it and putting it to sleep. Try connecting again now as described in the BG Connect ipad App section above. 3. Now restart your PC and then make sure you are running BG Fit Video Capture V4 or higher (see ABOUT on the top menu to check). Try connecting again now as described in the BG Connect ipad App section above. 4. Click on ABOUT on the top menu. 5. Click on TEST SERVICE button. 6. Review the results of the test. This tells you if the Service is running on the PC and if the BG Fit Video Capture software can connect to it. 7. Now we need to test to see if the ipad can see the same service on the PC the BG Fit Video Capture software can. Open Safari on the ipad and type the exact numbers only address you get from the Service Test you just did. Note: It may be different from the image above as it will be for your network not ours. 8. If your ipad displays a BG Connect connection test page (example below) then you ipad has connected to the BG Fit Video Capture PC and data is being transferring backwards and forward between devices.

9. Now go back to the BG Connect Home screen on your ipad and press the START then OPTIONS button and wait up to 20 seconds. Your computer s name should appear on the list.

In the new window that opens, scroll down and check to see if Specialized ipad Service is reading Started, Automatic, and Local System as in the image below. If not, uninstall and reinstall the BG Fit Video Capture software. If you have tried this and still nothing, contact support@siliconcoach.com. 10. If your Services list looks like the image above then click on the Windows Start/Search button and in the search space type cmd 11. In the results list, click on cmd.exe (windows 7) or Command Prompt (Windows 8) and in the new window that opens, and next to the >, type ipconfig

12. A whole list of words and numbers should appear like the image below but you are looking for the IPv4 Address, write down this IP number.

This option will let you connect your PC via Ethernet and your ipad via Wi Fi Go to an Apple store and buy an AirPort Express Base Station for about $100. Set that up as per the Apple instructions and use that as your wireless Router for ipad and PC. This is what we use for testing however you will need a Wi Fi card in your computer as there is no Ethernet output from the Apple Airport. NOTE: Both systems need to be connected to your broadband model via an Ethernet cable as you need to be able to access the Internet. 19. If still no luck contact datasupport@siliconcoach.com. 12
