New in this release The following sections detail what is new in Avaya SCE (NN ). Features (page 7) Related information (page 8) Features The following features are new for Avaya Media Processing Server 3.5 SCE. VoiceXML 2.1 SCE supports VoiceXML 2.1. All new VoiceXML 2.1 functionality is available using the Custom Block. All other SCE blocks continue to produce VoiceXML 2.0, VoiceXML 2.1 features are not used. Hot deployment Using hot deployment, applications can be deployed and redeployed without restarting the Web Server. Hot deployment speeds up development and production deployment time. Web Services Block Using the Web Services block, you can access Web services from your applications. Anonymous Connector The Flow editor provides an anonymous connector that you can use to minimize the need for crossing lines in a diagram. This feature is similar to the MPS Developer anonymous connector. Pages Using Pages, you can split a large diagram onto multiple pages Shortcut Using a Shortcut with Pages, you can jump from one block to another on the same page or on a different page. Shortcuts help reduce line crossing and long line routing issues on a diagram.

8 New in this release Webshpere Application Server v7.0 Support The SCE Runtime can run on Websphere Application Server v7.0. The installation for SCE runtime is a manual process. The SCE Developer Workstation continues to run on the JBoss application server. Execution View Several usability enhancements have been made to the Execution View. Grammar Specification Grammar definitions for an application can be exported into a design document. Record Utterance Menu and Input blocks support recording of the callers utterance. This feature simplifies applications that use the recorded utterance to perform speaker verification. Related information This section lists the Avaya Technical Publications that relate to this document. SCE Technical Publications The SCE suite consists of the following documents: Avaya SCE Upgrade Guide (NN ) Describes how to modify a Avaya Web-Centric Voice Application Development Suite (WVADS) 1.0 or WVADS 3.0 workstation to enable SCE installation. Avaya SCE Developer Guide (NN ) Describes how to develop IVR applications using the SCE tool, how to use the SCE graphical user interface, the SCE theory of operation, SCE data model, and the SCE solution applications. Avaya SCE Runtime Configuration Guide (NN ) Describes how to deploy IVR applications created with the SCE tool. Avaya Media Processing Server Configuration Voice Recognition Grammar Development (NN ) Describes the Avaya Visual Voice Recognition (VRG) Grammar Editor within SCE.

10 Introduction

SCE installation overview This module explains the types of SCE installations; provides information on additional software components; co-residency with multimedia applications; and co-existence with existing applications. Navigation Development workstation software installation (page 11) Web server software installation (page 11) SCE software components (page 11) Vendor software for the SCE development workstation (page 12) Co-residency with multimedia applications (page 12) Coexistence with existing applications (page 14) Runtime platforms (page 14) EMEA language support (page 14) Development workstation software installation The SCE development workstation provides a self-contained environment for creating and testing voicexml applications. The SCE development workstation includes the MPS, SCE runtime, speech-recognition software and the Eclipse IDE. Web server software installation The SCE Web server installation installs the runtime execution environment. The SCE Web server is most commonly installed on a separate system, referred to as the Web server; however, there are several co-resident installation options. See Co-residency with multimedia applications (page 12). SCE software components The following table lists the software components installed in each type of installation.

12 SCE installation overview Component Development workstation installation Vendor software for the SCE development workstation Before you install the SCE development workstation, you must install the following vendor software. The SCE installation checks for the presence of one or more of the following speech vendor software. If vendor software is not detected, the installer assumes you are using IBM WVS and prompts you to supply specific IBM WVS configuration information during the installation. RealSpeak 4.5 RealSpeak 4.5 Language Resources OpenSpeech Recognizer 3.0, Nuance 8.5 or Nuance 9.5 Web server installation Java 1.6.x X X Eclipse 3.x Avaya_SelfService_ WVADS option MPS 3.5 SCE plug-ins MPS Integration packages MPS 3.5 Runtime X X MySQL X X JBoss 4.2.x X X To install the vendor software, see Vendor software installation (page 23). X X X X Attention: The SCE installer detects only the existence of the required vendor software. The SCE installer does not validate user configuration of the vendor software. Co-residency with multimedia applications If you are installing SCE on an existing MPS Developer/MPS Manager workstation that was installed using version of the MPS installer, you must install WVADS 3.0 prior to installing SCE. If you are installing MPS Manager/MPS Developer on an existing SCE development workstation or an existing SCE Web server, you must use the MPS installer located on the SCE DVD. You cannot use the version of the MPS installer.

SCE installation overview 13 An SCE development workstation installation can co-reside with an MPS Manager Workstation or an MPS Developer Workstation. An SCE Web server can co-reside with a Windows MPS 500 application processor, a Solaris MPS 500 or 1000 application processor, an MPS Manager Workstation, or an MPS Developer Workstation. For information about manually installing the IBM Websphere Application Server, see the readme file on the installation DVD in the following directory: manual_install/docs/readme.htm. Attention: If you install the Web server on an application processor with an Apache Web server installed, you must reconfigure the JBoss server to use ports other than 80 and 8080 for Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).

14 SCE installation overview Coexistence with existing applications The following applications can coexist with SCE applications. Application Limitations MPS Developer See Co-residency with multimedia applications (page 12). WVADS 3.0 PAF Web voice application development (WVAD) applications can coexist. However, if WVAD applications run on the JBoss 4.0 server, they may require minor deployment modifications. Packaged application framework (PAF) applications can coexist. However, if PAF applications run on the JBoss 4.0 server, they may require minor deployment modifications. Runtime platforms You can deploy applications created with SCE on a JBoss 4.2.x Web server installed on an MPS 500 or 1000 running MPS software release 3.5 (Solaris/ Windows) and VoiceXML 2.1. EMEA language support Avaya Multimedia Applications Professional Services (EMEA) can provide speech vendor configuration files on request for a set of EMEA languages (currently Catalan, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swiss German, and UK English).
