Sectio 1 Overview 1-1. What is the Itegrated Routig System? Itegrated routig system is the system that has the fuctios of switchig ad cotrol of sigals usig routig switchers. The mai devices that costitute the itegrated routig system are the routig switchers that switch the sigals i accordace with the commads give by the host cotrol equipmet (host computer, etc,.) or the commads from the remote cotrol pael (routig switcher cotrol uit), a persoal computer that realizes the various setups that are required for cofigurig ad operatig the itegrated routig system, ad the remote cotrol pael to perform the sigal switchig operatios ad to display the ames of the selected sigals. 1-2. Fuctios of the IXS-6600/IXS-6700 Itegrated Routig Sstem The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 itegrated routig system has the followig fuctios. Secret fuctio It hides all of the iput systems from the remote cotrol pael so that the set cross-poits caot be switched. Protect fuctio Each output sigal ca be protected so that it will ot be switched by other remote cotrol paels. Cross-poit disable settig fuctio The iput chaels that ca be selected by operator, ca be limited for each output system so that the specific iput chaels ca be output to the specified output system oly. Password fuctio Password ca be set so that the accessible operators ca be limited by the password. Namig fuctio Names ca be give to the iput ad output termials so that the coectio sigals ca be idetified. Names ca be give by either oe of the followig two methods: Oe method is Type ame (equipmet ame such as VTR or camera) + umber (example: VTR1). The other method is to give a Descriptio ame havig arbitrary16 characters. The give ame ca be displayed o the optioal display uit ad the remote cotrol pael. Virtual mappig fuctio Cross-poit matrix ca be mapped o a virtual matrix. Free assigmet fuctio To each coector ame, a differet coector umber ca be assiged o each level. Self-diagosis fuctio Presece or absece of iput/output sigals ad occurrece of error ca be set to a persoal computer that is coected to the primary statio ad display them. Other fuctios. IXS-6600/IXS-6700 has the built-i system cotroller (primary statio fuctio). Therefore, there is o eed to prepare a cotroller to cotrol the routig system.. Up to 8 levels ca be assiged.. Whe the optioal Subet Iterface (BZR-IF810) are used, a maximum of 60,000 devices ca be cotrolled by a sigle routig switcher system. The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 does ot have the cotrol fuctio for the moitorig S-BUS system. 1-3. Compatibility betwee the S-BUS P1 (S-P1) Type ad S-BUS P2 (S-P2) Type There are two types of Soy Routig Switcher. Oe is the S-BUS P1 type (abbreviated as S-P1 hereafter) that supports the virtual matrix size 512, ad the other is the S-BUS P2 type (abbreviated as S-P2 hereafter) that supports the virtual matrix size 1024. The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 is the S-P2 type. The S-P2 type has the upward compatibility with the S-P1 type but has the several limitatios. The S-P2 type is realized by extedig the type umber of the termial ames from 16 to 32, ad by chagig the data structure of the termial ames. The 16 types of the termial umber data that are used i the S-P1 type, do ot have compatibility with the 32 types of termial umber data that are used i the S-P2 type. Therefore, the S-P2 type has two types of data i.e., both the 16 type data ad the 32 type data for each termial of termial umber 1 to 512. The 16 type data must be used for the termial umber of 1 to 512 whe the S-P1 type display uit (BKS- R3280/R3281) ad the remote cotrol pael (routig switcher cotrol uit) are used i the system. The 32 type data must be used for the termial umbers of 513 to 1024. Whe all of the display uits ad the remote cotrol paels withi the system are of the S-P2 type, the termial umbers of 1 to 512 must be set to the 32 type data. Whe use of the remote cotrol paels of the S-P1 ad S-P2 types are mixed, use of the S-P1 type remote cotrol pael is limited withi the rage of termial umber from 1 to 512. I such a case, the S-P2 type remote cotrol pael ca hadle the 32 type data with the termial umber of 513 to 1024. This maual describes iformatio of oly IXS-6600/IXS-6700 that is the S-P2 type machie. 1-4. Costituet Devices of Routig Switcher System The routig switcher system cosists of the followig four types of equipmet.. Routig switcher cotroller (HKSP-R80) It cotrols the sigal switchig of the routig switcher i accordace with the commads from the host cotroller (such as host computer) ad remote cotrol pael.. Routig switcher (IXS, HDS, DVS, BVS series) It switches sigals accordig to the commad from the cotroller (such as host computer) ad the remote cotrol pael. Varied switchers are available for differet types of sigals such as serial digital video, digital audio, time code, RS-422A, etc.. Remote cotrol pael (routig switcher cotrol uit) (BKS-R series) It switches sigals ad displays the ame of the selected sigal. It is sometimes simply called as remote cotrol pael.. Persoal computer A persoal computer is required i order to establish the various setups that are ecessary for cofigurig ad ruig the routig switcher system usig a termial emulator. The setup data are backed up ad uploaded with the BZR-20 that is supplied with the IXS-6600/IXS-6700. A persoal computer havig the followig specificatios is recommeded for use with the routig switcher system.. IBM PC/AT compatible persoal computer. Widows XP (Eglish versio or Japaese versio). CPU Itel Petium Processor equivalet or higher. Clock 233 MHz or higher. RS-232C port or Etheret is istalled.. Termial emulator (VT100 or higher) is istalled.. The codes of F1 to F5 are already set. For the code settig procedure, refer to Sectio 2-2.. BZR-20 (V2.11 or higher) is istalled. For the BZR-20 istallatio procedure, refer to the Istallatio Maual i the CD-ROM supplied with the IXS-6600/IXS-6700.. Microsoft Excel is istalled. IXS-6600/6700 1-3

Specificatios ad Fuctios of Cotrol Port The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 itegrated routig system is equipped with four kids of remote ports REMOTE 1 (stadard S-BUS), REMOTE 2 (RS-422A), REMOTE 3 (RS-232C), ad NETWORK (Etheret). The specificatios ad fuctios of the cotrol ports are as follows. REMOTE 1 BNC 75 Z Protocol : S-BUS cotrol PROTOCOL Data Trasfer Speed Max Cable Legth S-BUS 312.5 kbps/1250 kbps 500 m/125 m (BELDEN 8281 cable or equivalet) Fuctio : Cotrol of the equipmet is executed by the S-BUS data lik. The various types of equipmet related to the cotrol, such as remote cotrol pael, routig switcher, ad display uit are coected to this data lik. REMOTE 1 is the remote cotrol termial that is always istalled i the machies that are to be cotrolled by the S-BUS cotrol. REMOTE1 is sometimes simply called REMOTE for uits havig this remote port oly. REMOTE 2 D-sub 9-pi Protocol : RS-422A (Trasfer speed : 38.4 kbps, data bit : 8 bits, parity : EVEN) CART++ Protocol Cotrollable size 16 x 16 256 x 256 4093 x 4093 CART O CART+ O O _ CART++ O O O Fuctio : With this, the oe-to-oe port commuicatio betwee two uits is performed. It is used whe a Soy routig switcher is used as a simple matrix switcher whe receivig cotrols from the cotroller of other maufacturers via RS-422A. 1-4 IXS-6600/6700

REMOTE 3 D-sub 9-pi Protocol : RS-232C (Trasfer speed : 38.4 kbps, Data bit : 8 bits, No Parity, No check) Fuctio : Whe coected with a persoal computer, it performs the system setups, program dowloadig, setup data dowloadig/uploadig, ad sigal switchig. I order to perform system setup ad program dowloadig, the optioal termial emulator program must be istalled i a persoal computer. I order to perform the setup data uploadig/dowloadig ad the sigal switchig, istall the BZR-20 ad the BZR-21 that are supplied with the IXS-6600/IXS-6700 ad use them. NETWORK RJ-45 8-pi modular jack Protocol : TCP/IP trasfer (100BASE-TX) Fuctio : Set the IP address ad cotrol the routig switcher system from remote locatio. This fuctio is ot suited to the real-time operatio because commuicatio may take some time depedig o the etwork eviromet. Fuctios other tha that, remai the same as those of REMOTE 3. 1-5-2. S-BUS Cotrol The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 uses the Soy uique remote cotrol protocol called S-BUS (Soy serial bus) for cotrollig the switcher system. I the S-BUS cotrol, the multiple routig switchers ad remote cotrol paels are coected to a sigle bus lie to form a cotrol etwork called the S-BUS data lik. The devices o the S-BUS data lik are desigated to a primary statio which cotrols the whole system (oly oe uit is set as this) ad secodary statios. The primary statio ot oly cotrols the commuicatio betwee the secodary statios, it coverts the output request sigals from the secodary statio after covertig them i accordace with the iterally set coditios. Be sure to attach the 75 Z termiator to all of the u-used S-BUS lie coector regardless of the primary/secodary statios. IXS-6600/6700 1-5

Features of S-BUS Cotrol System The mai features of the S-BUS cotrol are as follows.. LAN type cotrol sigal commuicatio usig oe 75 Z coaxial cable (S-BUS lie). The primary statio ca cotrol up to 253 uits of routig switchers ad remote cotrol paels usig multiple S-BUS lies.. The coaxial cable ca be exteded to 500 m. (BELDEN 8281 cable or equivalet). Up to 128 uits of routig switchers ad remote cotrol paels ca be coected to oe S-BUS lie.. Without stoppig the system, the switchers ad remote cotrol paels ca be added to the S-BUS lie or removed from it. Basic Cofiguratio of S-BUS Cotrol System S-BUS cotrol is cofigured as follows. RS-422A Cotrol The IXS-6600/IXS-6700 ca be cotrolled from a exteral cotrol equipmet that is coected to the REMOTE2 (D-sub 9-pi) coector with the RS-422A iterface. I additio to it, the protocol ca be exteded so that up to 4093 iputs x 4093 outputs x 8 levels ca be cotrolled by the remote cotrol. The exteded protocol is the CART++ that has the cotrol size of 256 or less ad is compatible with the existig protocol (CART, CART+). Whe the IXS-6600/IXS-6700 is assiged to the primary statio, the protocol is fixed to the S-BUS coversio mode that coverts the received RS-422A commad to the S-BUS protocol. Whe the IXS- 6600/IXS-6700 is assiged to the secodary statio, the protocol is fixed to the Direct mode i which the received RS-422A commads are used to cotrol the receivig statio oly. m. I the direct mode, the protect ad secret fuctios set o the S-BUS protocol are ot available.. I the S-BUS coversio mode, the protect ad secret fuctios set o S-BUS protocol are available. However, these fuctios caot be set from the 9-pi remote cotrol ad the cotets of the settig caot be checked from the 9-pi remote cotrol. Note) : I IXS-6600/IXS-6700, P/S switch o CPU board meas S1203-3 o the CA-65 board. 1-6 IXS-6600/6700

2-4. Settig Items of the Primary Statio A : SET CONTROL AREA Purpose Sets the sources rage ad the destiatios rage of the whole routig switcher system to be cotrolled by the primary statio. A arbitrary ame of primary statio for this cotroller ca also be set o this scree. Settig procedure 1. Select [A] from the meu scree. 2. Select the desired settig item usig the cursor. 3. Press [Eter]. Rage of sources, rage of destiatios, ad ame (item [NAME]) for the primary statio become ready to be set. 4. Eter the rage of sources ad the rage of destiatios usig the umeric keys. Iput the desired ame for primary statio usig alphaumeric keys (four characters at a maximum). The maximum values that ca be set for the rage of sources ad for the rage of destiatios are show below. For example, assume that case that you set the source to SOURCE No. 0001-1025. If the top value of the source chaged from 0001 to 1024, the differece betwee the top values becomes 1024 (1025 _ 1 = 1024). Whe the origial idicatio of SRC i the meu item I starts with 0001, 0002, 1001, 1002, ad so o, the idicatio is chaged to 1025, 1026, 2025, 2026, ad so o after [F1] is executed. This occurs because the differece betwee the top values (i.e., 1024 i this example) is added to every source umber.
