1 Installation Guide Note: Remove any DECT Examiner RF Probe before installing the software. 1.1 Software Installation 1.1.1 Install DECT Examiner Application To install the DECT Examiner application on your PC, simply run setup.

Alternatively, download the archive iupdatexvy.zip (where x.y denotes version number of the application) from DOSCH&AMAND Asia s Information Management Portal (IMP), extract it and run setup.exe. The installer installs a control application, a Wireshark prepared for capturing DECT frames, and the PCAP driver required by Wireshark. Open Advanced Settings, and disable support of NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Choose OK to close advanced settings window.

9 Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) item and open its properties. Assign a static IP address (it may differ from the one shown above), choose appropriate subnet mask. Open Advanced Settings, and disable support of NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Choose OK to close advanced settings window. Click OK. Close the properties window. 10 1.3.2 Restart Computer It is necessary to restart the computer after installation for the packet to function properly Obtaining License File If you run the DECT Examiner Application for the first time, the following start window will be displayed. If you click on Enter, you will be notified that the license file is missing. If you already have a license file, copy it to C:\da1220\config. 11 2 Usage Guide 2.1 DECT Examiner Application When you open DECT Examiner Application the following window appears: Press enter to go to the main screen. 11 pa g e I n s t a l l a t i o n & U s a g e G u i d e V e r s i o n 1. 1

Start scanning the environment by pressing the Start Scanning button. The list of the base stations found by the DECT Examiner will be displayed as RFPI list.

Pressing the Stop button will set the application and the probe in the Idle mode. Select the desired FP by choosing one from the list on the right side of the panel. Application will report its readiness for analysis. Press the Lock to Basis button to synchronize with the selected FP. You may enter the RFPI value directly by editing the value in the RFP detailed information window. To start the editing use right mouse click on the RFP detailed information window.

To accept the value press [Enter]. The application will briefly check the RFPI format and switch itself to Ready for locking mode when no error is detected. To leave the edit operation press [ESC]. In the Locked state you can start the WireShark application for capturing the data packets by pressing the WireShark button. From the main screen of the WireShark application choose DnA RNDIS Ethernet Adapter from the Interface list. DECT Examiner supports EU and US (carriers 1-5) frequency. To switch the operating frequency select the Advanced tab, select desired mode and press Set mode button. 14 2.2 Audio Converter Audio converter option allows extracting audio data into wave files. The uplink- and downlink stream is saved into separate files. The converter supports G726 narrowband and G722 wideband codec. The conversion process is performed in four steps: 1. Selecting a capture file: Capture file must be saved prior extracting. Important: The file is to be saved in PCAPNG format. If it is saved as standard PCAP file, please open it in Wireshark and choose Save As command from File menu. 2. Setting the parameters: Enter PMID of the handset manually or choose PMID from the list. The list is filled by pressing Scan PMID button. Important: Make sure only last 16 bits are entered (4 digits). Leading zeroes may be skipped. 3. Select codec which was used during the call. 4. Storing the wave files: Press Extract Audio button to select destination directory. The base to handset audio path is stored as downlink.wav file and the opposite stream is extracted to the uplink.wav file. Important notes: Slot modification during call is not supported in this version. The identifiers are composed of parts separated by dots. The result is a navigation path into a hierarchical structured protocol. The first part stands for the protocol itself (root of hierarchy) followed by nodes and elements of the tree. Please note that not all protocol nodes have to be implemented as nodes in the filter. In order to express a relation use one or more of the following operators well-known from the programming languages such as C, C++ or Java: <, >, ==,!=, <=, >=. In addition there are three operators is present, matches and contains Examples Expression: cnwk.discrim The part of cnwk stands for the cat-iq network layer protocol and discrim for the protocol discriminator. The result is that all frames will be displayed which contain a protocol discriminator of the network layer protocol. Expression: cnwk.discrim==0x05 In relation to above only the frames will be displayed which contain the specific protocol discriminator with the value of 5 hexadecimal (Mobile Management (MM) messages). Expression: cmac.afield.hdr.ta>0x04 The part of cmac stands for the cat-iq media access control protocol and afield.hdr.ta for the navigation path to the ta -part of the a-field header. All frames will be displayed which contain a ta -part greater than the hexadecimal value of 0x04. Additionally, when using the Msc-generator for the first time, a pop-up window like in the following will be displayed: Please do NOT install the latest version displayed in the pop-up window but stay with version v supplied.
