3 About the Authors Digging Into Autodesk Map 3D 2005 Rick Ellis is the founder and CEO of Cadapult Software Solutions, Inc. At Cadapult Software Solutions, Rick provides training and consulting services to clients around the country helping them to get the most out of their design software investment. He is also an independent consultant and instructor specializing in Autodesk Land Desktop, Autodesk Civil Design, Autodesk Survey, Autodesk Map 3D, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Raster Design, AutoCAD, and Bentley MX Civil Design software. Mr. Ellis is a member of the Autodesk Developer Network, author of Digging Into Autodesk Land Desktop 2004, co-author of Introducing Autodesk Civil 3D, a K-TEK Certified Professional (KCP), a select author for CAD Digest, an instructor for the AUGI training program, as well as a Level I and Level II Bentley MX certified instructor. He served as Staff Geographer, Network Administrator and CAD Manager at a multidisciplinary engineering firm. More recently, Russell served as the Director of Planning on an innovative urban transportation project, where he coordinated the development of an integrated computerized billing and reservations system, wrote the documentation, supervised installation in satellite offices and trained personnel in its setup, use and maintenance. iii
