A part of Impress window that displays the thumbnails of the slides in a presentation 4. The special effects that control how and when the slides should appear during the slide show 5. The arrangement of all of the items that make up a slide in a presentation Transitions Rehearse Timings Slide layout Slides pane View III. State three facts about: 1. Presentation software 1
2. Slide show 3. Animations 4. Transitions 5. Timing text box IV. Figures Speak Identify the slide layout and write its name in the space provided
3. 4. V. Application-oriented Questions 1. Proneeta has made a presentation for her new ad campaign. The content is ready but she does not have much time to design backgrounds and decide on colour schemes for the presentation. Name the presentation which will help her to create a professional presentation without devoting much time. 2. Jayant is not able to understand the difference between normal view and outline view in presentation tool. Write one major difference between them. 3. Anu wants to see all the slides in her presentation simultaneously. Suggest which view she should use to see all the slides simultaneously. 4. Suman is working as Marketing Manager in Advertising Company. She has prepared a presentation on her latest product. What features should she use to set the automatic timings of the slide show? 5. Charan is trying to put many pictures and text on a particular slide. Whenever she is repositioning the text box, all other picture objects shift to different positions. Which option, you will suggest her to fix positions of all the picture objects in one go in a specific manner? 3
I. Word Search Answers II. Match the related options. 1. b 2. e 3. d 4. a 5. c III. State three facts about: 1. Three facts about presentation software are: (a) Presentation software is an application software that helps you create attractive, eyecatching and professional-looking visual aids for users. (b) These visual aids let you communicate ideas, messages and other information in an easier and effective manner. (c) Nowadays, many presentation software are available in the market, such as OpenOffice Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, Photoshop and Flash. 2. Three facts about slide show are: (a) A slide show is an electronic presentation that can be run on a computer screen or on a projector where each slide changes automatically after some specified time or on a mouse click. 4
(b) Today, slide show has become an effective means of conveying information on certain topic to a group of people. (c) Slide shows are frequently used by organisations to provide training to their employees, introduce a new product in a conference or seminar, and so on. 3. Three facts about animations are: (a) Animations are the special effects that you can add to the text and other objects (such as a chart, picture or a drawing shape) on a slide. (b) They are used to attract the attention of the audience towards the important points in the presentation and make the presentation lively. (c) In Impress, you can add animations using custom animation. 4. Three facts about transitions are: (a) Transitions are the special effects that control how and when the slides should appear during the slide show. (b) These effects appear during the changeover (transition) from one slide to another while the slide show is running. (c) Impress provides a variety of transitions and you can apply the same transition to all slides in the presentation or select different transitions for different slides. 5. Three facts about timing text box are: (a) Impress allows you to time the animation for objects like text box and pictures as well as the transition for slides. (b) Once specified, the animation of object or transition of slide takes place automatically after the specified time interval while the slide show is running. (c) You can time the animation for pictures in the similar way as for the text box. IV. Figures Speak 1. Title and 2 Content 2. Title, Content over Content 3. Centered Text 4. Title Only V. Application-oriented Questions 1. Proneeta can use Design Templates to create her presentation quickly and easily. 2. Normal view allows editing and formatting of text and objects added to a slide. It gives a larger view of the slide. In contrast, outline view displays only the text of each slide in outline form. Thus, only text content can be edited in outline view. It gives a miniature view of slides. 3. In order to view all the slides simultaneously, Anu should use the slide sorter view. The Slide Sorter view displays all the slides in a miniature (thumbnail) form. 4. To set the automatic timings for each slide during the slide show, Suman can first rehearse the presentation to let Impress record the time taken in presenting each slide and then use this recorded time to advance from one slide to another during slide show. This feature is known as Rehearse Timings. 5. Charan should first group all the picture objects and then try to re-position the text box. 5
