CRT/MDI AND LCD/MDI PANEL () Functions of MDI Keyboard No. Name Functions (1) <RESET> key RESET Press this key to reset the CNC, to cancel an alarm, etc. (Only for CRT/MDI) () <HELP> key HELP Press this button to use the help function when uncertain about the operation of an MDI key. (Only for CRT/MDI) () Soft keys The soft key has various functions, according to the Applications. The soft key functions are displayed at the bottom of the CRT screen. (Only for CRT/MDI) () Address/numerical keys Press these keys to input alphabetic, numeric, and other characters. 0 () <SHIFT> key SHIFT Some keys have two characters on their keytop. Pressing the <SHIFT> key switches the characters. Special character ^ is displayed on the screen when a character indicated at the bottom right corner on the keytop can be entered. (Only for CRT/MDI) () <INPUT> key INPUT () Cancel <CAN> key When an address or a numerical key is pressed, the data is input to the buffer, and it is displayed on the CRT screen. To copy the data in the key input buffer to the offset register, etc., press the <INPUT> key. This key is equivalent to the [INPUT] key of the soft keys, and either can be pressed to produce the same result. Press this key to delete the last character or symbol input to the key input buffer. CAN () Program edit keys Press this key when editing the program. ALTER INSERT DELETE () Function keys POS PROG Press this key to switch display screens for each function. See Subsec.1..1 for details of function.

5 No. Name Functions () Cursor move keys There are four different cursor move keys. < >: This key is used to move the cursor to the right or in the forward direction. The cursor is moved in short units in the forward direction. < >: This key is used to move the cursor to the left or in the reverse direction. The cursor is moved in short units in the reverse direction. 1 < >: This key is used to move the cursor in a downward or forward direction. The cursor is moved in large units in the forward direction. (11) Page change keys PAGE < >: This key is used to move the cursor in an upward or reverse direction. The cursor is moved in large units in the reverse direction. Two kinds of page change keys are described below. < >: This key is used to changeover the page on the CRT screen in the forward direction. PAGE < >: This key is used to changeover the page on the CRT screen in the reverse direction. (Only for CRT/MDI) NOTE The keys on the separate type MDI are identical to those on the CRT/MDI.

Either signals supplied to the NC from the PMC or key operations are used to select the path for which data is displayed and set. For the CRT/MDI, specifying the name of the path in a parameter makes it possible to indicate the path to which the current display belongs at the bottom right corner on the screen. Also a parameter is available which specifies that a subscript attached to the display of an axis be used to distinguish the path to which the current display belongs.
