5 Global changes Ease of deployment: Dedicated FlexRip/FlexProof DVD All FlexRip-related software has been put on a single DVD Exception: For FlexProof/E, there is still a separate Proof Server Prerequisites DVD For FlexRip Pilot, the dedicated AE DVD has to be used CMS database: support for all possible characters No more character limitations for ink names, ink books, color strategies, profiles and device links Known limitation: when generating InkPlanner Report files (.ipl extension) about inks containing the characters [, ], :, =, # or ;, these will be converted to underscores. When opening such a report, it will give a warning that the ink (after conversion) cannot be found in the ink database. CIP3 files (.ppf extension) don t have this limitation 5

7 FlexRip Allow to not output separations with only masked-out objects ReportMaker can generate separation previews by masking out all object in another color This resulted in FlexRip still generating all separations (all empty except one) This can now be overruled by setting DELETEEMPTYSEPARATIONS=1 in FRC This is not the default, as it slows down ripping Faster output for jobs containing lots of transparency A lot of such jobs can be speed up by resolving up-front (during pre-ripping) This is now a new option Resolve Transparency in the Pre-Rip tab of the Expose and Proof tickets (see next slide) Miter limit: avoid differences with what you see in PackEdge Miter limit calculations are very sensitive to floating-point inaccuracies Any difference with PackEdge typically shows up as a spike (or missing spike) There is now an option Convert Strokes that calculates miter limits during preripping, using the exact PackEdge algorithm (see next slide) 7

12 Curve Pilot Auto Ink Mapping Layout When automatically measuring a layout, the inks not always match those from the Curve Set In that case the ink from the layout is mapped to the ink from the curve set with the closest hue (e.g. Blue -> Violet for a 7-channel layout) Export to DGC files By default, the result of an automatic measurement is a PressSync Curve Set If this is not accurate enough (e.g. for dot gain in flexo), you can now export the measurements to a DGC curve Graph Target Curve Desired tone values can be defined in various ways (user defined, reference curve, from a profile, ) This feature visualizes a curve from these values, and allows smoothing if needed 12
