Project Number CD Title ISO/IEC CD Technical reports on ISO/IEC Part 1: SQL XQuery regular expression support in SQL/Foundation (SQL/TR- REGEX) This ballot resulted in two substantial comments and one catch-all comment to cover any additional problems discovered. During the WG3 meeting in Kunming, China, WG3 responded to the two substantial comments. No additional problems were discovered. With the submission of the revision, we request that SC32 initiate a DTR ballot as soon as possible. None provided with comment. All Clauses and Subclauses that say TO BE SUPPLIED should either be supplied or deleted. None provided with comment. The reference to [Friedl] is inappropriate. An ISO document should not recommend a specific text in the popular literature. The sole citation in Clause 3 should be reworded to advise the reader that popular expositions of regular expressions are available. None provided with comment. It is too similar to Oracle s Regular Expression, such as REGEXP_COUNT, REGEXP_INSTR, REGEXP_LIKE, REGEXP_REPLACE, and REGEXP_SUBSTR. However, Oracle s Regular Expression statement structure doesn t mention about XQuery. 2. About LIKE_REGEX, if it is used as a predicate then it should support not only POSIX but also SQL metacharacter such as %. Is there any big problem? So, for more inclusive XQuery than regular expression than Oracle, though it is referred to Foundataion: 2003, it should be a different name. For example, Replace LIKE_REGEX with XREGEX_LIKE. The informative text in Technical Report ISO/IEC describes the syntax and use of the Regular Expression functions that were approved as a part of ISO/IEC 9075:2008 Part 2, SQL/Foundation. This comment addresses the base capabilities in 9075:2008, not the description in TR 19075, so this comment is closed with no action. Addressed By No Additional Problems discovered.
