3 ANTIGUA INTRODUCTION SPEC The Antigua is our entry-level product manufactured in MDF covered in an extruded polypropylene coating, offering exactly the same levels of quality but with reduced colour options and installation capabilities. Antigua is only available in 5 white painted colours and due to its weight is not suitable for larger unsupported window installations. The maximum number of panels that can be hinged together is 2. Aesthetics: Manufactured using a patented polymer coating the shutters are extremely durable and easy to maintain. The Antigua shutters have a slight shinier look and a slight orange peel finish due to the polymer coating. Painted shutters have a flatter finish. Frames and Panels: Limited range of frames available. Stiles: Please note the stiles are manufactured in a beaded stile. Louvres: Antigua is available in 47mm, 63mm, 76mm, 89mm, 114mm, elliptical louvres. Special Shapes: Limited special shapes are available. Only linear special shapes as curved special shapes cannot be manufactured in the Antigua. Colour palette: There are a total of 5 shades of white available. Custom colour is not available. 6 INSTALLATION STYLES SPEC TRACKED SHUTTERS FULL HEIGHT Shutter covering the full height of aperture. Bi-Fold Shutters suspended from a top track hinged together in a bi-fold configuration to allow them to be folded back to the end of the track at 90º. Suitable for use with patio doors, wardrobes or as a room divider. May be specified and fitted with or without side frames. By-Pass Shutters suspended from a top track. Panels slide behind or in front of one another to open or close. Suitable for use with patio doors. room dividers and wardrobes. May be specified and fitted with or without side frames. CAFE STYLE Shutter covering only the lower portion of aperture providing privacy and light control but leaving the top portion un-shuttered to maximise light, where privacy is not required. TIER ON TIER Shutter is split into two halves so the top and bottom panels can be independently operated / opened fully. The standard gap between top tier and bottom tier is 2.5mm. UNSUPPORTED SHUTTERS Where untracked shutters are used without support beneath the panels customers need to specify this in the short notes section of the order form. For example, situations where the gap between the bottom of the panel and the bottom of the side frame is greater than 2.5mm. This can apply to 3 sided (goal post) frames on doors or windows. Where unsupported shutters are specified we will add extra hinges to support the panels and install larger, stronger, top & bottom rails to reduce the likelihood of panels sagging and to increase rigidity. If an unsupported application is not indicated on the order form please note that all warranties on the order are automatically waived. The following chart shows the maximum configurations available for unsupported shutters. Build-out (Extension) For L/Z/Deco/Hang Strip frames including T-Post, we will pre-attach the build-out when the build-out thickness is 50.8mm or under by default. For L/Z/Deco/Hang Strip frames including T-Post we will supply the build-out loose with the pilot holes pre-drilled where the build out is over 50.8mm. NB. For example, if the frame type is 76mm L Frame, and build-out is 10mm, we will use 76mm L Frame added with 10mm build-out instead of changing the frame type to 50mm L Frame added with 36mm build-out. 15 15.9mm SPEC mm RAILS By default the factory determines the rail size for each order, unless specified otherwise in the notes on the order form. Unless a mid-rail(s) is specified, top & bottom rails will be the same size. Rail sizes are normally larger than 80mm*. Different rail sizes can be requested though the combination of a fixed overall panel drop and louvre sizes means that it may not always be technically possible to fulfil every custom rail request. Shuttershop recommend ordering all shutters for one room at the same time in order to achieve matching rail sizes. Different windows that are side by side or within the same room must be identified and where rail size is important to the overall finish, dimensions must be specified. Please note: The standard top/bottom rail size should be within 69.85mm-165.1mm for regular shutters. Rail sizes increase by 3.175mm steps only. Custom rail size must fall within this parameter STANDARD MID-RAILS The Mid-Rail size is 76.2mm high. Different mid-rail sizes cannot be ordered in Antigua. If the panel height is greater than 1879mm one or more mid-rails are required. If the height from the centre of the mid-rail to the top of the top rail or bottom of the bottom rail is 1879mm or more, then another mid-rail is required. Mid-rail positions should be specified at time of ordering. If the order specifies that a mid-rail is not required then all warranties on the order are automatically waived. *Generally the rail sizes will be larger than 80mm, but it does not mean that rail sizes bigger than 80mm are always with in warranty, the minimum rail size will differ from each order and depend on panel width, height and louvre size. Usually, the rail size will be supplied with in warranty, and only adjusted when the customer requests mid rails exact or specify the rail size. If rails are out of warranty then order will be placed on hold. MID-RAIL continued Specified rail position is taken from the base of the shutter set to the centre point of the rail, except for solid based which is from the bottom to the top of the mid-rail. The centre rail can deviate by + or by the amount of millimetres shown below. If the mid-rail is to be exact with no deviation then this must be noted on the order card under the notes when placing the order. 16 SPEC LOUVRES LOUVRE PIN Louvre pins are used to ensure louvre tension. In addition a tension screw is inserted into one louvre in the panel. This is the same for all louvre sizes. Access holes are drilled in the in the stile for each panel to allow the tightening or loosening of the tension screw, to adjust the louvre tension. Silent tilt rods are available in 63mm, 89mm and 114mm. The 47mm does not have this option. The Silent Tilt rod will automatically be split into 2 parts when the number of louvres connected to the silent tilt rod exceeds the following limit. If the louvre quantity exceeds the above limit, the gear tilt control will be equally split into halves. If the louvre quantity is odd the bottom section will have one more louvres than the top section. If the panel has a divider rail, and the louvre quantity above divider rail or below divider rail exceeds the above limit, split tilt rods are also required. OFFSET TILT RODS Offset tilt rods can be ordered. The standard offset is 25mm from the centre of the tilt rod to the end of louvre on hinge side. If a different offset is required please specify the position from the centre of the tilt rod to the end of the louvre on the hinge side in the short notes on the order form. The centre of the tilt rod will be 25mm from louvre end on hinge side of the panel. For Fixed panels, the offset tilt rods will be positioned on the left side for all panels. For special shaped panels, the offset tilt rods will be on the higher side of the stile. OFFSET TILT ROD FOR MULTI-FOLD SHUTTERS Multi-fold panels will be made with the tilt rod offset from the centre to enable panels to be folded flat without tilt rods obstructing one another. The standard offset for the tilt rod is 7mm from the centre, i.e. tilt rod will be 7mm to the left of centre for left panels, and 7mm to the right of centre for right panels. 18 RF MOTORISED SHUTTERS USER GUIDELINES SPEC The RF motorization system features a remote control that utilizes the latest in radio frequency technology. This user manual is designed to allow the beginner to become quickly oriented with the basic day-to-day functioning of the RF system. The second part will explain advanced programming features that can help you get the most out of your investment. The unique features of the RF remote include: Revolutionary radio frequency that transmits up to 20 metres indoors (with obstacles) or up to 40 metres outdoors (free space). Control panels individually, as well as in groups, or all at once. Control unlimited number of motors that are in range. Remote control powers on automatically with vibration sensing technology Smart Battery indicator tells you when your remote battery or receiver / driver battery needs to be recharged. Keep the remote in a safe place out of small children s reach. If opened, the remote control contains small parts, that if swallowed, may cause a choking hazard. Do not damage or drop the remote. Mistreatment of the remote could damage the circuit board. Do not use any spray solvents, alcohol or abrasives to clean the remote. To clean, use a slightly moistened with water soft cloth. Store the remote in a clean, dry area. Rain, water, or other moisture may damage the circuit board. Keep the remote away from direct sunlight, heaters and other heat sources. High temperatures could damage the circuit and batteries, and deform the remote housing. Keep away from extreme cold. This may create moisture and cause damage when the remote is moved to a warmer area. Dispose or recycle batteries according to local laws. 1 year limited warranty on materials and craftsmanship. Do not try to disassemble the remote. There are no serviceable parts inside. When the batteries on the remote or the motor are weak, the control range will get shorter or fail. Please replace batteries at this time. (see Battery Replacement) If batteries fail, louvres can be moved by hand to the desired position while in Manual setting. When you press a button to select an angle position, all louvres may not move at the same time due to their starting louvre position. However, all louvres will end approximately the same position. 21 GETTING STARTED SPEC BATTERY INSTALLATION Remote Control The RF remote control requires 2 AAA batteries. To install the batteries, turn over the remote and open the cover. Insert batteries (AAA batteries *2) matching the (+) and (-) marks and cover the bottom cover. If the battery has been properly installed, the screen bar will light up. Please see Programming Instructions for details. To install batteries to open the battery cover. Remove the battery cartridge. Insert batteries (AA batteries *6) matching the (+) and (-) marks inside the battery cartridge. Put back the cartridge and reinstall the battery cover. The programming function allows you to group shutter motors together in 1 of 5 groups. Each of the number keys towards the top of the remote control numbered 1 through 5 corresponds to a single group. Each group can consist of unlimited numbers of shutters that are in range. The All key controls all groups at once. Grouping motors together allows you to move all the motors in that group in sync, for instance all the shutters in your living room but not those in your kitchen, or all the shutters on the west wall of your room but not the south. It should be noted that you can only programme one remote control unit with a set of remote shutters, so multiple remote controls cannot be used to control the same remote shutter set. 23 SPEC BASIC PROGRAMMING TUTORIAL continued Using Angle Keys Beneath the 2 rows of number keys and All key as described above, are the 8 Angle keys that are arranged in a semi-circle arch. Each of the Angle keys corresponds to a desired tilting position, spanning the entire arc of the louvre s movement. For instance, the top button in the arch (the 5th one down from the top button of the arch) would tilt the shutter at the maximum horizontal position to provide maximum openness, and the bottom most button would close the shutter in a downward position. How to group shutters (step 1) Your RF system has not been pre-programmed. To begin programming, only install the batteries into the motor modules you d like to be in the first group. At this point, do not install the batteries for motor modules that are to be assigned in other groups, since any modules that has been powered on and can receive a signal from the remote control, and has not been already programmed, will be programmed in this step. With batteries installed in all group 1 modules only, press any one of the eight Angle keys. It does not matter which one you push. Now, press the Number key you d like to program. For instance, if you d like to assign button 1 to all modules powered on right now, press 1 now. How to group shutters (step 2) After you have pressed 1, this concludes the first step. In the second step, install all the batteries to modules in the second group. Do not take out the batteries from the modules that have been assigned to group 1. With batteries installed in all group 1 and group 2 modules only, press any one of the eight Angle keys. It does not matter which one you push. Now, press the Number key you d like to program. For instance, if you d like to assign button 2 to the second group of modules you have just installed batteries for, press 2. This concludes step two. You can repeat the process up to 5 groups. Reset groups at any time If you want to reset any of the modules at any point, just take out the battery and then reinstall it. Using your remote With all groups programmed, you can easily tilt any group of shutters. To begin, first press the Angle key that corresponds to the angle you wish to tilt. Then press the number key that corresponds to the group number you d wish to tilt: this will tilt all shutters in the group to the desired position. 24 SPEC BASIC PROGRAMMING TUTORIAL continued Manual Tilting Mode Your RF system includes a Manual option that allows you to adjust your shutters by hand without a remote control, giving you more control flexibility, as well as the ability to adjust by hand in the event of low or dead battery. To begin, locate the M (Manual) and R (Remote control) switches on the Receiver / Driver as pictured. Turn to M temporary manual moving Retrieve to R for driving working To switch to Manual mode, use a coin to release the clutch and turn the dial to M. DO NOT force the rotation of the louvres. If the dial has been turned to M properly, no excessive force is necessary. Forcing the louvres to rotate without releasing the clutch and turning the dial to M will cause serious damage to your RF system. To revert back to R (Remote control) mode, install fresh batteries into the driver, turn the dial back R and then reprogram Turn to M temporary manual moving Retrieve to R for driving working ANTIGUA SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 4. 25 SPEC BASIC PROGRAMMING TUTORIAL continued Low Battery Indicator If the remote control battery is low on power the Low Battery Indicator will signal a longer 5-second flash after you push a button on the remote. If the Module is low on power the Low Battery Indicator will signal a series of short half-second flashes after you push a button on the remote control. Sleep Mode The remote control will go into sleep mode after 15 seconds of non-use. 54 AN OVERVIEW OF TRACK SYSTEMS There are three types of track system: Track Shutters 90 Bi-fold (Outside, Semi Outside & Inside Mount) Shutters fold 90 degrees to the frame only leaving shutters to protrude into room. Bi-fold and Multi-fold are available in all materials. Track Shutters 90 Floating (Outside, Semi Outside & Inside Mount) Shutters can be hinged as two or four panel groups to fold and slide in either direction. This gives greater flexibility on shutter positions. Available in all materials. Track Shutters By-Pass (Outside, Semi Outside & Inside Mount) Shutters up to three tracks deep can be ordered to give many by-pass options to the end user. By-pass can be ordered in either open or closed bypass - Where louvres will need to be either open or closed to by-pass each other. Available in all materials. Note: 3 Track is only available in Sumatra, Fiji and Cuba. Top-track Shutters with top-tracks are generally fitted to larger windows, where more than the recommended number of panels are required to cover the window. They are ideal for patio or French doors as they give good support to the panels, without the need for a bottom frame. Top-tracks are available in a white, coffee powder-coat finish or anodized. The required colour should be specified by the distributor on the order card if it differs from below spec. White: will be the default colour for all paint colours and 110 Limed White Coffee: will be the default colour for all stain colours. Anodized: will be the optional colour. When floating panel config is singular, it will be split into 3 sections, the left and mid sections are for LL and the right section is for RR. 76 SIZING AND MEASURING SPEC ORDER SIZE DEFINITION Overall Panel size (OP): The size given is the overall panel size. The width does not include the hinge space from panel to batten on the left & right side, but does include the gap between panels, the standard gap is 2mm between panels and we will calculate the single panel width based on this measurement (see diagram below). The height given must be net panel height. We will premount the hinges and the magnets and include panel feet and L shape magnet catches in a hardware box. The stile can be Rebate or D-mould, please specify in the relevant section of the order form. 2mm L L R R Overall Panel Size OD of frame: Size given is Outside Dimension of the shutter; we will pre-mount the hinges and the magnets, and will include all the necessary hardware in a hardware box.
