7 ZEISS 3D Surface Modelling Reconstruct 3D Surfaces Quickly and Easily The 3DSM licence is a 3D surface modelling software application for SEMs equipped with a backscattered detector. The software automatically reconstructs SEM images by employing the four detector segments to create a single point of view. This results in a continuous surface model with several measurement capabilities and the resultant image can be visualised in numerous ways such as anaglyph view, mesh view, textured view or contour overlay. Alternatively, 3DSM can be operated as a stand-alone solution on a PC for visualizing archived project files. 3DSM is a versatile 3D tool for a wide range of applications, such as life sciences, electronics, forensics and metrology. Charging, thermal and mechanical drift can lead to unwanted shifts in the scanning field. These movements can be compensated by the use of drift correction. 11 ZEISS Fish Eye Mode Wide Angle Survey with The Fish Eye Mode The Fish Eye licence presents an extremely large field of view by permitting fish eye distortions of the image. In this mode the usual measurement tools are disabled. Selecting Fish Eye Mode will select the necessary operating conditions for the column that are required. This will include changing the accelerating voltage. The appropriate aperture, high current setting and extractor voltage are then selected by the control software to achieve the requested probe current. 28 ZEISS AVI - Image Capture Software Record Dynamic Sample Processes and Manage Your Storage Space The AVI - Image Capture Software licence allows the capture of dynamic processes in the form of videos. Specific presettings enable to set the possible storage size, video resolution and length of the video by a certain time or number of images ( frames). These files can then be saved in the AVI Multimedia format and can be reproduced using the SmartSEM software or another Windows application. 30 ZEISS Centre Point / Feature Centre and Zoom Your Region of Interest The Centre Point / Feature licence allows the user to centre a feature in the middle of the image by selecting it either with the crosshairs or by drawing a bounded box around it. Centre Point allows the user to select a point on an image to bring it to the centre of the screen. An option exists to specify whether this is done with stage movement, beam shift or a combination of the two. A further option exists to keep the system in Centre Point mode, so that a series of points can be centred sequentially. Centre Feature is similar, but allows an area of the image to be selected and the centre of this area will be centred on the screen and the magnification will be adjusted to the make the width of the area selected fill the screen. 32 ZEISS Compucentric Stage Centre a Feature Continuously During Stage Rotation or Tilt The Compucentric Stage licence permits the stage to be rotated as though the field of view were the centre of rotation. It also allows the sample to be tilted as though the sample were at the eucentric point of a eucentric stage. Note that these features require the centre of rotation and the sample height to be calibrated in order for them to function correctly. 36 ZEISS Dual Channel Display Two Detectors Signals at The Same Time The Dual Channel licence enables to display an additional live image on a second monitor. The second image may be showing the output of a different detector to the primary image. It is possible to selectively freeze the second channel and to use it to display a full image dual magnification in conjunction with the primary image. It is also possible to annotate the second image. 83 ZEISS Gamma & LUT Transform Software Optimize Your Images with Gamma & LUT Transform The Gamma-LUT Transform Software licence allows the individual matching of the signal transmission characteristic, that is the assignment of the input signal to a specific colour or grey value. This standard linear function can be adjusted independently of the signal setting for brightness and contrast. The adjustment can be made both in the live image and on previously saved images. The adjustment is particularly useful when the illumination of the image by means of a linear characteristic cannot be adjusted optimally or with great difficulty. For example by adding or moving discrete points of the characteristic curve or by inserting a step function, the image illumination can be optimised. In addition to individual matching, predefined functions such as invert, step function, colour coding, etc. are possible.
