CAUTION: Units with serial numbers 100, ,082 cannot be upgraded due to lack of SRAM capacity. If one of these units is upgraded inadvertently, the unit will not start. However, units with a suffix -13 or higher MPU-124 board can be upgraded. 2 NEW FUNCTIONS Memory Stick PRO Memory Stick PRO under 2 GB is supported. NOTE: A Memory Stick PRO cannot be used to perform the upgrade to V1.20. Boot Version Display The Boot version can now be displayed in the Information menu. To display the Boot version: 1. Set Engineer mode as follows: Press MAINTENANCE > RM Config > Security > Engineer Mode. NOTE: To release Engineer mode, press the menus again, or turn power OFF and ON. 2. Press MAINTENANCE > RM Config > Information. (See Figure 1.) Figure 1 Noise Suppression A noise suppression function is added; the Noise Sup menu is added to Paint 8/8. (See Figure 2.) Menu: MAINTENANCE > SD Adjusting > SD Matrix and SD Multi Matrix The adjustment procedure is the same as for Matrix in the Paint menu; however, the Matrix Gate function is not supported. Master White Gain Control of the Master White Gain function is added to White in the Paint 2/8 menu. Master White Gain can be adjusted in the White adjustment menus in Figure 3. SSM Flicker Reduction The Flicker Reduction button is added to: MAINTENANCE > Super Motion This button controls the Flicker Reduction ON/OFF function of HD SSM (HDC3300 series). (See Figure 4.) Selects Gamma Table of User Gamma. CCU Menu Control CCU menu control is added. The CCU MENU can be displayed on the LCD of RM-B750 when the CCU outputs an SD video signal to the command terminal. Use the same operation buttons and adjusting knobs as for VF Menu Control. (VF Menu Control and CCU Menu Control cannot be used simultaneously.) (See Figure 6.) Set Engineer mode as follows: Press MAINTENANCE > RM Config > Security > Engineer Mode. 2. Press MAINTENANCE > RM Config > SW Setting > SW Setting Menu (2/2). 3. 6 Figure 7 Shutter/Select FPS Function for F23 The Shutter/Select FPS function for F23 is supported; the Shut/FPS menu is added to Paint 8/8. The shutter can be controlled using two methods: Step and Continuous. (See Figure 8.) 7 CAUTION: When connecting a camera other than the F23, continuous Shutter is not supported, and the shutter cannot be controlled in this menu. Slow Shutter The Slow Shutter function is added to ECM/S-EVS menu in Paint 7/8. (See Figure 9.) Figure 9 Control Item Slow Shutter button SLS knob (left) Turns Slow Shutter ON/OFF. Adjusts shutter speed of Slow Shutter. Multi Matrix Gate The Multi Matrix Gate function is added to PAINT 3/6. (See Figure 10.) Figure 10 The function confirms which hue is currently selected from the 16-axis color correction function. The selected hue portion is indicated by the zebra signal in the same way as Skin Gate. When Matrix Gate is set to ON, the gate signal of the phase that is selected as PIX is superimposed. When Panel Active is set to ON, Matrix Gate is turned ON. When Panel Active is set to OFF, Matrix Gate cannot be turned ON or OFF. Page 7 of 11

9 Color Temp Control A function is added to control color balance by the curve of the blackbody locus without using RGB control. (See Figure 13.) Figure 13 When this function is used, color balance follows the color temperature change of natural sunlight with only a single axis after color balance is adjusted under a certain color temperature. The balance adjusted is the amount of deviation from the ideal blackbody locus. When AWB is executed, C TEMP and Balance are calculated based on the RGB balance saved in STANDARD. During ATW execution (ATW ON), panel control is disabled because the White is calculated automatically. Alignment of HD/SD Display The Point Limit adjustment of Auto Knee in Paint 6/8 is now adjustable even in HD systems. Support of New Functions The new functions listed in Table 1 are supported in the units indicated. NA indicates not applicable. 10 PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS ECS is now displayed correctly in 1080/60P, 1080/59.94P, 1080/50P, and SD 23.98P. When the camera is connected to RM-B750 and ABB is executed in the camera menu, if ABB is executed again immediately after [ABB:OK] appears on the viewfinder, [ABB:BREAK] no longer appears and the operation does not break. When controlling ECS with RM-B750, the increment of change is now one step rather than four steps. UPGRADE PROCEDURE NOTE: The following system requirements and instructions under Copy Software to Memory Stick are required only if you download software from the SoftwarePLUS website. System Requirements Memory stick, such as one of the following: MSA-8AN (8MB) MSA-16AN (16MB) MSA-32AN (32MB) MSA-64AN (64MB) MSH-32 (32MB) MSH-64 (64MB) NOTE: Do not use any other type of memory stick or the Memory Stick PRO. PC interface adapter (Use one of the following to copy data from the PC to a memory stick): PCMCIA card adapter MSAC-PC2N Floppy disk adapter MSAC-FD2M VAIO computer with memory stick slot USB supported writer/reader MSAC-US1 Archive utility for Windows (such as WinZip) Copy Software to Memory Stick 1. Open the MRMB75003.zip file. 2. Select the WinZip option Use folder names, and extract the rom files to the memory stick. NOTE: The following directory is created automatically, and rom files are copied to the RMB750 folder: \MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\RMB750 NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can create the directory described above, and copy boot.rom and rmb750.rom files to the RMB750 folder. 11 Update Software NOTE: Refer to RM-B750 Maintenance Manual, 1 st Edition, section , Updating the Software. DO NOT turn power OFF or unplug the memory stick during the update; otherwise the unit may not function or parts may need to be replaced. 1. Insert the memory stick containing the upgrade software in the unit. 2. Press and light the PANEL ACTIVE button. 3. Press the PANEL ACTIVE, STANDARD, and FUNCTION buttons simultaneously. The Diag Mode 2 menu appears. 4. Press Ver Up in the Diag Mode 2 menu. The display switches to the Firmware Update display. 5. Press Main Update. When updating is complete, the message COMPLETED appears. 6. Perform either of the two following steps to finish the update: While pressing the PANEL ACTIVE button, press the STANDARD button within one second to exit the menu. Turn the power of the power supply unit OFF and ON. 7. Update Boot software in the same manner as for Main software, except press Boot Update in step 5 above. CONFIRMATION Confirm the software version as follows: 1. Press MAINTENANCE > RM CONFIG > SECURITY > ENGINEER MODE. 2. Press EXIT in the SECURITY menu to return to the RM CONFIG menu. 3. Press INFORMATION, and confirm the software version. Page 11 of 11
