PDWM16-067R2 NEW FEATURES Menu for Security Level A menu for security level is added. (See Figure 1.) SECURITY: LEVEL1/LEVEL2 LEVEL1 Username and password for HTTP communication are not encrypted. Clips are transferred via FTP. LEVEL2 Username and password for HTTP communication are encrypted. Clips are transferred via FTPS (encrypted). 3 PDW-HD1550 as Destination for Direct FTP PDW-HD1550, PDW-750, and PDW-850 are added as destinations for Direct FTP. (See Figure 4.) Figure 4 Alarm Indicated at EJECT The indication when the EJECT button is pressed and the drive detects Error (abnormal current on loading motor) is changed: Error > Lid Closed! Lid Closed! indicates that the error is caused by the lid being pressed during disc ejection. PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS SD SDI audio signal noise is corrected. The RPN correction function is improved in PDW-700. (See Figure 5.) The APR ON ABB menu is added. Menus to set pixel width of the RPN correction to 4 pixels (WIDE MODE:ON) and to indicate the internal temperature are added to the SERVICE menu. 4 Vibration resistance of the disc drive is improved so that recording continues even if the camcorder is moved vigorously while the disc is accessed. The width of the line for the 100% marker is thicker so that the marker can be seen clearly with the HDVF-C30WR viewfinder. When the VDR switch is set to SAVE and the THUMBNAIL button is pressed to indicate the thumbnail of the inserted disc, PROCESSING no longer remains displayed on the VF/LCD, and power can be turned OFF properly. The software library used on the Linux OS is updated to the latest pattern to address the glibc vulnerability. UPGRADE PROCEDURE NOTE: When monitoring upgrade status, connect to a viewfinder (such as HDVF-20A or HDVF-200) just in case the display on the LCD disappears during the upgrade. For PDW-700/F800, software must be upgraded to V1.21 or higher first before upgrading to V3.20. Prepare PDW Unit 1. Remove any disc that may be inserted in the unit before you begin the upgrade; otherwise, the upgrade may fail. 2. Disconnect the i.link cable and audio cable (including headphones) if connected to the unit. 3. Use external DC power and not battery power to perform the upgrade. 4. Set the VDR switch to STBY. 5. Execute ALL FILE SAVE before the upgrade to save settings. CAUTION: DO NOT turn power OFF or remove the memory stick during the upgrade; otherwise, the upgrade will fail. Page 4 of 6

Make sure the following setting is enabled; otherwise, the upgrade will not proceed: OPERATION > 07 POWERSAVE > ETHERNET/USB > ENABL NOTE: The default setting is DSABL. 3. If using USB memory to perform the upgrade, refer to the maintenance manual, volume 1, section , Firmware Update Using the USB Memory. 4. After the upgrade, execute FACTORY PRESET, then ALL FILE LOAD. UPGRADE VIA NETWORK System Requirements Package software: PDW-700: Garland-pdw pkg PDW-F800: Garland-pdw-f pkg PC Network cable Procedure 1. Before starting the upgrade, execute ALL FILE SAVE. 2. Make sure the following setting is enabled; otherwise, the upgrade will not proceed: OPERATION > 07 POWERSAVE > ETHERNET/USB > ENABL NOTE: The default setting is DSABL. 3. If using the network to perform the upgrade, refer to the maintenance manual, volume 1, section 2-4-1, Software Update. 4. After the upgrade, execute FACTORY PRESET, then ALL FILE LOAD. Page 5 of 6

6 CONFIRMATION 1. Turn power OFF and ON. 2. While pressing the MENU knob, set the MENU ON/OFF switch from OFF to ON to open the TOP menu. 3.
