2 Overview The HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W User application software adds the following function(s) to a Sony HD color camera when installed in the camera. HZC-UG444-compatible models HDC1000, HDC1400, HDC1450, HDC1500, HDC1550, HDC1580, HDC1000R, HDC1400R, HDC1450R, HDC1500R, HDC1550R, HDC1580R, HDC2400, HDC1700, HDC2570, HDC2550 HZC-UG444M/UG444W-compatible models HDC2400, HDC2570, HDC2550, HDC1700 The HZC-UG444M is a version limited to use for 30 days. The HZC-UG444W is a version limited to use for seven days. Installing HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W enables direct output of RGB 4:4:4 signals from the camera head. The RGB 4:4:4 signals are fed out from the SDI 1/SDI 2 connectors of the camera as Dual Link HD SDI signals that conform to SMPTE372M. When using HZC-UG444, check that the software of the camera to be used in combination is: HDC1000/1400/1450/1500/1550/1580: Version 1.24 and later HDC1000R/1400R/1450R/1500R/1550R/1580R: Version 2.02 and later HDC1700: Version 2.00 and later When using HZC-UG444M/UG444W, check that the software of the camera to be used in combination is: HDC2400/2570/2550/1700: Version 2.00 and later The period of use starts counting from the day after installation, and can be checked on the <OPTION KEY> page. CvpFileEditor 1) conformity The HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W enables a camera to load gamma curves created using CvpFileEditor available on ecsite, the site for downloading business and professional software from Sony Corporation. While the HDC1000/1000R/2000-series cameras incorporate Standard ITU-709 as well as Sony s original Hyper 2) for image creation in a wide dynamic range, CvpFileEditor application software for personal computers is provided to permit users to create desired gamma tables for more detailed contrast characteristics using a personal computer. HDC-series cameras in which HZC-UG444/UG444M/ UG444W has been installed can import the customized gamma curves via a USB flash drive or a Memory Stick to achieve image reproduction with unique gamma curves. 1) CvpFileEditor is a trademark of Sony Corporation. 2) The HDC2400/1700/2570/2550 supports all versions, while the HDC1000R/HDC1000 supports versions V1.22 and later. RGB 4:4:4 output function (HDC2400/ 1700/2570/2550/1000/1500/1000R/1500R only) In the image creation field, including digital cinema where image composition is in heavy demand, the RGB 4:4:4 system, with broadband chromaticity signals, is employed as a creation system. 2 Overview

3 Installation 1 Create a key file. Create a text file that contains the software installation key, and rename the file as shown in the following table (the name of the key file varies with the type of camera used). Invalid keys are ignored in the installation process. Enter only one installation key per line. Any description between # or ; and the line break is a comment. 3 Install the key file. On an HDC2400/1700/2570/2550 Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on the camera and read the key file into the camera using the <OPTION KEY> page of the MAINTENANCE menu. On other HDC-series cameras Insert the Memory Stick into the Memory Stick slot of the camera and read the file into the camera using the <OPTION KEY> page of the MAINTENANCE menu. Create a \MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HDC2000 (or \HDC1000) folder on a USB flash drive or Memory Stick and copy hdc2000.key (or hdc1000.key ) to that folder. <OPTION KEY> M17 TOP cread (USB t CAM) EFFECTIVE FUNCTION USER GAMMA [10/17-10/24] For HZC-UG444M/UG444W, the same key cannot be reinstalled once it has been installed. Nor can it be uninstalled once it has been installed. Installation 3

4 4 Confirm the result of installation. Restart the camera and check the OPTION display on the <SERIAL NO.> page of the DIAG menu. When the installation is successfully completed, the OPTION column indicates the following: <SERIAL NO.> D05 TOP MODEL: HDC2400 NO : OPTION: USER GAMMA + 4:4:4 For the HDC1400/1450/1550/1580/1400R/1450R/ 1550R/1580R, the OPTION column shows USER GAMMA only. User In addition to the built-in standard and hyper gammas, you can use a user gamma that you created by yourself. Use the <GAMMA> page of the PAINT menu to turn the gamma ON/OFF and select the gamma curves. Creating a User Using CvpFileEditor, create the desired gamma table data on your PC. Use CvpFileEditor in F23 mode. The gamma table data you create can be loaded into the camera via a USB flash drive or Memory Stick for use. When you select a user gamma, the gamma level and ON/ OFF control may be disabled, depending on the selected user gamma file. This is because the gamma may be forcibly set to a fixed value when creating the gamma curve. Using a User 1 Load the created user gamma table data into the camera. Using the <USER GAMMA> page of the FILE menu, load the data from a USB flash drive or Memory Stick. <USER GAMMA> F04 TOP cread (USB t CAM) PRESET FILE ID: CAM CODE DATE 2 Select the user gamma. RGB 4:4:4 HD SDI Output RGB 4:4:4 HD SDI signals can be fed from the SDI 1/SDI 2 connectors of the HDC2400/2570/2550/1700/1000/ 1500/1000R/1500R. The SDI 1 connector is for LINK A and the SDI 2 connector is for LINK B. s The output is available only in i/29.97PsF/ 23.98PsF/50i/25PsF/24PsF formats. On cameras other than the HDC2400/1700/2570, the output is not available when an HDCU (camera control unit) is connected. About CvpFileEditor HZC-UG444/UG444M/UG444W supports CvpFileEditor Version 3.0 and later. If your CvpFileEditor is an earlier version, you can download the software from ecsite, the site for downloading business and professional software from Sony Corporation. If you have not registered at ecsite, access the following URL and register. registuserinfo?action=regulationsdirect For detailed information on how to install the software, refer to the manual for CvpFileEditor, available from the above-mentioned site. s The Ethernet transmission function of CvpFileEditor Version 4.0 and later is not supported by HZC-UG444/ UG444M/UG444W. When using the Camera Black 0 (zero) function of CvpFileEditor Version 4.0 and later for a HDC1000/ 1000R/2000-series camera, the black level is not fixed to 0, differing from F23/F35 Digital Cinematography cameras. Adjust the black level to 0% with gamma OFF then turn gamma ON. Set SDI-2 OUT to ACTIVE on the <POWER SAVE> page of the MAINTENANCE menu. <POWER SAVE> M13 TOP SDI-2 OUT : ACTIVE DOWN CONVERTER: ACTIVE (VBS/SD-SDI/RM-MONI) 2 Select LINK B for SDI-2 output.
