3 Our products are RoHS environmentally-friendly The European Union has issued clear directives to ensure better management of electrical waste throughout the production chain, to safeguard an environment increasingly under threat from problematical waste. Fanton S.p.A. has always responded to the need for sustainable development with strategies aiming to comply with the strict European directives on production, disposal and the environment. The fundamental EU legislation on environmental policy is the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC - Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. In compliance with the RoHS directive, which restricts the use of some hazardous substances and pollutants in electrical and electronic equipment, Fanton S.p.A. banned the use of substances such as heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium) or flame-retardants (brominated biphenyls, etc.) in July 2006, the year when the Directive came into force. Compliance with this standard results in products which are safer for their users and the environment, two important aims towards which much of the work of our R&D laboratory and production departments is directed.

CEE plugs and sockets argo 03 The CEE plugs and sockets of the Argo series feature a sought-after design and an ergonomic shape that allows for easy, comfortable grip. The sockets use an innovative, extremely simplified, rapid wiring and opening system. They are produced in various different types: trailing, wall-mounted, flush-mounted and in variants for low and very low voltage, both IP44 and IP67. They can be used for voltages of up to 690V and current of up to 32A. Perfect for particularly harsh conditions outside domestic ambiances, such as industrial and agricultural. New opening system The real new feature of these products lies in the new, quick and easy opening system! The use of the screwdriver for opening is limited to the mere pressing of a metal tongue in a specific hole. The system gains time and ease of installation. OPENING Insert the screwdriver in the dedicated slit. Rotate anti-clockwise. Separate the two pieces. Wiring in just 2 moves The Argo series offers an innovative, patented wiring system called the Click Block System. The electrical connection is developed by a specific spring contact that allows for a better, longer-lasting seal. With the Click Block System, screwdriver use is limited to a minimum. The terminal block pins show the characteristic colours of the different polarities, alongside the terminal block the polarity symbols are printed in relief, in order to speed up electrical wiring and eliminate possible connection errors. FURTHER ADVANTAGES The entire Argo series is packaged in a practical, convenient Flow-Pack that protects the product and makes it ready for wall display. The Flow-Pack provides all indications as to product characteristics and the barcode Packaged individually in flow-packs, ready to hang and always perfect! CABLE Insert the sheath-less cable: 16A A = 30 mm B = 12 mm; 32A A = 50 mm B = 12 mm. Insert the cable and press the pawl to block. The plug is provided ready for use in the flow-pack! CLOSING Insert the two pieces and turn clockwise until you hear a click. Close the cable clamp. PUSH The conductors connect with a simple click, pressing the open pins with your fingers. No more tools needed for connecting! No screwdriver required for closing either, thanks to the screwless bayonet closing system.

This protection level is recommended by the standards where there is a risk of plugs and sockets ending up in puddles or similar conditions. t CE MARKING The products are CE marked in compliance with European Directives. t HOURS AVAILABLE Alignment for low voltage is provided for in two ways: 1) an larger earth contact as compared with the other contacts; 2) a protrusion on the plug that meets with a channelling on the socket therefore considers the hourly position of the earth contact (with front view of the socket) ) in relation to the guide channel (always positioned at 6 o clock), thereby preventing connection of non-compliant sockets and plugs in terms of capacity, voltage, frequency and number of poles (for further specifications, see the technical guide at the end of the catalogue). 73 Technical ceramics Not all ceramics are the same. There are various types of components available on the market and they are classified as follows: Ordinary ceramics Porcelain Alumina-based technical ceramics Country products are made from a ceramic material that is termed technical due to the high percentage of alumina contained in the mixture. 142 The Country products hidden qualities Not all the qualities of Country products are immediately visible, such as the type of ceramic used. All our products are created using a particular type of ceramic that, thanks to the alumina content, makes it significantly superior to other ceramics and porcelain. This is why it is defined as technical ceramic. The Alumina offers the ceramic material a combination of unique mechanical and electrical properties: Good thermal stability. Not subject to oxidation. Excellent hardness - material akin to diamonds. High wear resistance - a ceramic component in applications where it is subject to wear offers times the service life of the same component made of steel. Resistance to corrosion in acidic or alkaline environments. Good heat insulator - excellent dielectric properties when used with direct current. Good heat insulator. Technical Ceramic material breaks like glass and requires a lot of force, while Porcelain products break easily, causing the product to crumble. Where the Alumina-based Technical Ceramic material is broken, the visible texture is fine, more compact and hence stronger, as opposed to the porous appearance of Porcelain. Another factor that sets the two materials apart is the purity of Technical Ceramics, which are whitish and smooth in appearance due to the Alumina content, unlike Porcelain, which is greyish in colour. The highest impact strength rating of its category With the high quality of the materials used, the Country series has passed severe regulatory tests, achieving an impact strength rating of IK05. Impact strength of ceramics The differences that matter Many ceramic products on the market are actually made from Porcelain, which is inferior to the Technical Ceramic material in one peculiar respect: impact strength. The specific weight of a porcelain product (comparable to the Country series) is approximately 2.33, as compared with alumina-based technical ceramics, which is 3.55 kg/dm³. The tolerances shown on the images (+/-1%) are ample and therefore shared. The hardness is evident when products made from Technical Ceramics and Porcelain are tested. 88 INSTALLATION GUIDE 172 STEP 1 A D FIXING THE WOODEN BASES AND INSULATORS + JUNCTION BOX WIRING 4 cm B WOODEN BASES These are free from holes to guarantee absolute freedom of application and adaptation. 1) First make 2 holes measuring Ø 3 mm, 40 mm apart. 2) Fix them by making 2 holes in the wall, at 40 mm centres horizontally (in order to ensure that they do not interfere with the screws required to fix to the bases). INSULATORS Do not immediately tighten the fixing screws! Allow the insulator to turn around itself. The eccentric hole allows for adjustment after fixing to the wall, providing for an adjustment of ± 1.5 mm. This innovation ensures perfect tensioning of the braided cable. Screws are tightened at the end. A) Fix the primary insulators at a distance of 4 cm from the edge of any base. B) Position the remaining insulators approximately 45 cm apart (no more than 50 cm between two insulators, particularly if the cable is horizontal). C) In curves, use 2 insulators creating a 45 angle and keep centres of 5 cm. D) Should the cable go through walls or other surfaces, always use the ceramic fairlead required to maintain insulation. STEP 4 A FIXING THE CABLE TO THE INSULATORS B1 The fastening (knot) serves to maintain cable position and tension. After having wired the junction box, bind the primary insulator nearest to it. It is only at this stage, that the cable can begin to be fixed to the insulators, as described. These knots must be made in the direction of the base. To make the knots, use the part of the silk recovered from stage 2. We will now describe how to make the knots: A) Slightly open the cable at the primary insulator, forming an eye. B) Pull a stretch of cable obtained in stage 2 through. C) Cross the cables over and pull the ends as per the photograph. D) Pull both threads obtained over the cable and make two knots. E) Thread these through the eye and pull the ends towards the knot. F) Insert the cable into the insulator. G) Tie the cable to the primary insulator opposite, as shown in the photograph above, using the same procedure. C B2 D H) Connect the other insulators and cut the threads so that they cannot be seen. When laying the cables required for wiring, leave a 20 cm length starting from the centre of each wooden base. This will leave sufficient cable for wiring the connections and recovering the silk required for fixing knots.
