AIR AIR Workaround: 1. InfoService must run as the Local System account. You can allow the services to write to a NAS share by giving read/write permissions on the share for the machine hosting InfoService. For example, to allow InfoService running on a machine named Pascal, give the user "Pascal$" read/write access to the share on the NAS. 2. To grant a domain user the necessary rights, enter the following commands in a command-prompt: CD c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v aspnet_regiis.exe -ga <user> Etrovision EV8180F unsupported resolutions 5

Known Issues Known Issues Access Control: If you had access control integrated with Symphony, you must re-add access control after upgrading to this release (this includes rules associated with access control). Procedure: Important: Any rules that are configured for the Cardax devices in the 6.2 installation must be deleted from Server Configuration: Rules Summary following the 6.5 upgrade. The Cardax devices need to be re-added to Symphony 6.5 before new rules can be configured for them. Cardax rules carried over from a 6.2 installation will not work and need to be deleted, not edited. To re-add Cardax devices to Symphony: 1. Use the same procedure as if the Cardax devices were being added for the first time (see Integration Guide) with the following adjustments: a. Task 3: Install required packages in Symphony Server The OPC Core Components Redistributable and Cardax OPC Bridge Configuration Version 6 components may already be installed on your Symphony server machine (if previously required for Cardax in 6.2). These installations need to be Repaired using their original installation executable. b. Task 5: CardaxListener Windows Service in Symphony Server This AI CardaxListener service still exists from the 6.2 installation, but has been stopped, and is not affected by a Restart Symphony Services via the Client, so it must be started/restarted manually from the Windows Services application. c. Task 6: Add device in Symphony This must be repeated. d. You may need to restart AI CardaxListener service. 12

USERS and SECURITY USERS and SECURITY Managing Users and Groups - New User Configuration Interface Managing User and Group Security Settings on page 23 Security Profiles on page 26 Sending Messages to Other Users on page 27 Managing Users and Groups - New User Configuration Interface Now you manage users and groups in a new User Configuration dialog box. From the Server menu, select User Configuration. The User Configuration dialog box opens. Figure 1. User Configuration dialog box The user management system in Symphony employs user groups. This allows administrators to organize the security privileges of users as part of Groups. The administrator establishes group security privileges and then assigns users to groups. 21

Managing Users and Groups - New User Configuration Interface An administrator can create, rename, and delete groups, as well as modify group membership. A group may contain users, or even other groups. Both a user and a group may be in multiple groups. (Not allowed: Group A is part of Group B, which is part of Group A). By default, there are two User Groups. The Administrators user group allows users who are a member of this group full access to the system. The Symphony Users group allows users limited access. Group membership makes the security management of many users easier than managing privileges on a per user basis. Figure 2. User Configuration dialog box showing User Groups 22

Managing User and Group Security Settings Managing User and Group Security Settings In previous versions, user security was established through the Server Configuration dialog. Now, you manage security settings per user or per group in the User Configuration dialog box. 1. From the Server menu, select User Configuration. The User Configuration dialog box opens. 2. Click on a user name and the User Information fields are displayed, including a Manage Security button at the bottom of the dialog box. Figure 3. Setting up User Information and Managing Security 23

Managing User and Group Security Settings Clicking the Manage Security button opens the Security Configuration dialog box. Figure 4. Security Configuration dialog box 24

Managing User and Group Security Settings Figure 5. Security Configuration dialog box with Devices tab active 25

Security Profiles Security Profiles All user-access rights are defined in Groups in User Configuration. Each Group can have more than one Security Profile. Security profiles allow administrators to change security privileges quickly depending on the situation. By default, only one Security Profile (called Default) is used. In most cases this will be sufficient. In some cases it may be useful to define additional security profiles and modify access rights of the Group per profile. This allows you to quickly change permissions to resources (such as cameras) in cases of an emergency. For example, under normal conditions a group of users may have access to all cameras, but in an emergency situation access may be temporarily suspended to one security group but given to another. Figure 6. Security Profiles From the Server menu, select Security Profiles. The Security Profiles dialog box opens. 26

Sending Messages to Other Users Sending Messages to Other Users This tool allows you to send messages to any user or user group in the system. Anyone who is logged in will see this message as a pop up in the Symphony Client or in the Web Client. From the View menu, select Messenger. The Messenger dialog box opens. Figure 7. Messenger dialog box Figure 8. Message as it appears in Web Client 27

Sending Messages to Other Users Note: You must first set privileges for sending messages. 1. From the Server menu, select User Configuration. 2. Select the user or user group and click Manage Security. Figure 9. Allow user or group to send messages 28

CAMERAS and VIDEO CAMERAS and VIDEO Setting a Camera s Render Mode Device Tree Configuration on page 30 Video Wall on page 31 Device Group Settings on page 34 Setting a Camera s Render Mode You can set the render mode for each camera, including a Default mode that can applied to all cameras. 1. Right-click on a camera. Select Settings. The Camera View Settings dialog box opens. 2. Click the Appearance tab. The Render Mode selection of Default is set in the Symphony Client Settings dialog box. (View>Settings). Figure 10. Render Mode per camera set to the Default setting established in the Symphony Client Settings 29

Device Tree Configuration Device Tree Configuration You can add devices to your Device Tree by simply selecting and dragging devices to branches (groupings) in the tree. You can also remove devices by selecting and dragging them with your mouse to the bottom of the dialog box. From the Server menu, select Device Tree Configuration. The Device Tree Configuration dialog box opens. Figure 11. Device Tree Configuration dialog box Figure 12. Context menu for device group 30

Video Wall Video Wall With Aimetis Symphony, you can create video walls by using numerous PCs and controlling them remotely through the network. The video wall is not a physical wall but a software representation of a collection of real monitors displaying video. The collection of monitors could be on a single wall in a room or in different physical locations. Multiple video walls can be associated with a farm, each with different sets and layouts of monitors. Any Symphony Client can become a Video Wall Client. When a Symphony Client is designated as a Video Wall Client, all monitors associated with that client can be included in a video wall. Any client on the network can control the monitors remotely. For video wall functionality, Professional or Enterprise licenses must be used. No Standard licenses can be used. 31
