1 Pre-installation Checklist System requirements Hardware Operating system Messaging server Messaging server application You must meet BOTH of the following requirements: Intel Pentium IV processor (1.5 GHz or more) 1 GB or more of available RAM You must have ONE of the following operating systems: Windows 2000 SP4 (Server edition or Advanced Server edition) Windows Server 2003 (Standard, Enterprise, or Small Business Server) You must have AT LEAST ONE of the following messaging servers: IBM Lotus Domino 6.5.5, 7.0.1, or Exchange 5.5, 2000, 2003, or 2007 Mixed environment (any combination of Exchange 5.5, 2000, 2003, or 2007) You must have ONE of the following messaging server administration tools: In a Exchange 5.5, 2000, or 2003 environment: Exchange 5.5 Administrator Exchange 2000 or 2003 System Manager In a Exchange 2007 environment: Exchange 2003 SP2 with System Tools Exchange Server MAPI Client and CDO (for more information, visit the Support web site and search for known issues when you develop custom solutions for Office Outlook 2007) In an IBM Lotus Domino environment: IBM Lotus Domino Version 6.5.1, 6.5.2, 6.5.3, 6.5.4, or IBM Lotus Domino Version 7.0, 7.01, or Windows Server 2003 (64-bit) requires Version Version Research In Motion Limited 1

Your messaging server has permission to run agents. Your messaging server has manager-level access. You must have ONE of the following web browsers: Internet Explorer Version 6.0 with Java technology or JavaScript turned on and the language preferences configured to display encoded web pages Internet Explorer Version 7.0 with Launching applications and unsafe files (not secure) set to Enabled, Java and JavaScript turned on, and the language preferences configured to display encoded web pages You must have the following: The latest CDO library version that is supported by the latest version of Exchange in your environment You must have a notes.ini file with BOTH of the following conditions set: Read/write permissions SERVERKEYFILENAME value set to server.id name only without full path information You must have ONE of the following data access components installed: MDAC Version 2.8 with Security Patch MS (Version ) MDAC Version 2.8 SP2 (Version ) You must have ONE of the following database management systems running: Local SQL Server 2005 Express (you can install this database application during the installation of the BlackBerry Professional Software) Local MSDE 2000 SP3 ( ) Remote SQL Server 2005 Standard or Enterprise Remote SQL Server 2005 SP Research In Motion Limited Version 1.0

4 BlackBerry Professional Software service account: Exchange permissions Set all permissions for ONE of the following messaging environments: For Exchange 5.5: On the host server for the BlackBerry Professional Software, configure the Exchange permissions for the Windows account that you plan to use to install the BlackBerry Professional Software. In the Exchange Version 5.5 Administrator, in both the Site and Configuration containers, configure the Service Account Admin permission. For Exchange 2000 or 2003: On the host server for the BlackBerry Professional Software, configure the Exchange permissions for the Windows account that you plan to use to install the BlackBerry Professional Software. In the Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 System Manager, configure the Exchange View Only Administrator permission with the minimum access level of Administrative Groups. At the server level, configure the following permissions: Send As Receive As Administer Information Store Start the MAPI subsystem Open the Exchange System Manager to start the MAPI subsystem Research In Motion Limited Version 1.0
