2 What is BADA? BADA - Base of Aircraft DAta is an Aircraft Performance Model (APM) developed and maintained by EUROCONTROL through active cooperation with aircraft manufacturers and operating airlines. BADA provides a/c performance and operations models suitable for: trajectory simulation in the air traffic modelling and simulation tools which are used to support R&D, validation and assessment of new ATM concepts, ATC procedures, advanced controller decision support tools and equipment before they are introduced into operational service; trajectory prediction in the ground based operational ATM systems (Flight Data Processing Systems) to better plan traffic flows, reduce delays, operating costs and minimize adverse environmental impact, and environmental studies in terms of aircraft emissions assessments. 2

3 BADA model families BADA 3 family Today s standard for aircraft performance modelling providing close to 100% coverage of aircraft types in the ECAC area. Its objectives are to model aircraft behaviour over nominal part of flight envelope and to meet today's requirements for aircraft performance modelling and simulation. BADA 4 family Newly developed model family covers 70% of aircraft types in the ECAC area. It provides increased levels of precision in aircraft performances parameters over the entire flight envelope to enable modelling and simulation of advanced systems and future concepts. 3

21 BADA 3 release content Latest BADA 3.13 release in numbers BADA 3.13 includes aircraft models for 519 different aircraft types. 194 native models developed using reference aircraft performance data sources originating from aircraft manufacturers 325 synonym models These aircraft types have been identified as being equivalent to native aircraft models. Native models represent around 95%, while the synonym aircraft occupy a further 5% share of the total European traffic. 21
