1 Certified Revenue Integrity Professional Purpose of the CRIP Certification The Certified Revenue Integrity Professional (CRIP) exam is intended for anyone in the revenue cycle industry to help ensure that facilities effectively manage their charge master, and bill and document appropriately for all services rendered to a patient. This certification requires an in-depth, working knowledge of various revenue cycle areas and proper skill sets needed to increase revenue and reimbursement for facilities. It also ensures that proper charging takes place to maintain compliance within the insurance payer programs. CRIP Certification Details You must be a National AAHAM member to take this professional exam Applicants must have a minimum of a two year college or Associates Degree or has at least two (2) years of health care experience. The exam is four (4) hours in length. The exam consists of 250 questions which are either multiple choice or true and false. The exam is broken down into four (4) sections. In order to successfully pass, a score of 70% or greater must be achieved on each section of the exam. 1

2 CRIP Certification Details Beginning in 2016, the exam is offered three (3) times a year in March, July and November. Applications must be received before the deadline date of each exam. All applications must be received by the AAHAM National Office by: Cost: December 15, 2015 for the March 2016 examination April 15, 2016 for the July 2016 examination August 15, 2016, for the November 2016 examination. Full Exam = $ 199 Section Re-takes = $ 50 each You must pass at least two (2) of the four (4) sections in order to be eligible for a retake. Study Manuals: An outline will be included as part of your exam fee You may purchase the study manual from National AAHAM. All material on the exam will come from the study manual. Purchase Price = $ 199 for members and $ 299 for nonmembers If you cannot afford the cost of the manual, check with your local AAHAM organization as all chapters receive a free manual to support their certification program. Many chapters are willing to loan you the manual to use to study.
