4 equalified is a global industry-managed system for qualifying special process aerospace personnel. How does it work? By defining expectations via Bodies of Knowledge: documents developed by the industry participants that detail the baseline knowledge and experience required to be considered competent for a target position By checking that people meet those expectations using exams with questions based on the Bodies of Knowledge to validate that an individual possesses the baseline knowledge and experience required to be considered competent for a particular job role 4

5 A number of aerospace companies approached PRI to request support for an industry-managed special process personnel qualification program. Their request was in response to the skills gap caused by the increasing number of retirees and ongoing globalization of the supply chain. The changing landscape had created a growing need to ensure high special process proficiency at their organization and in the supply chain. The intent was to create a program that would be industry-managed and benefit from industry-wide expertise. 5

6 equalified leverages the combined knowledge of aerospace industry experts to develop and maintain special process Bodies of Knowledge (baseline knowledge and experience required to be considered competent for a target position) and examinations, which are based on the Bodies of Knowledge. PRI also administers private exams for Honeywell and Sikorsky. 6

7 2013 The signing of 2 new Member Agreements (Honeywell Aerospace and Rolls-Royce plc), first industry managed Bodies of Knowledge published in Heat Treating (HT) and Chemical Processing (CP) and Program documents written and published Started transition to the new exam software system Webassessor. First BoK developed for Composite Repair. Welding Review Board established. First set of equalified exams approved by eqmc First industry managed examinations launched for pyrometry. 9 Cost effective Shared cost in developing BoK and Exam content On-line exam delivery system Minimal staff resource requirement Administrative burden assumed by PRI Technical expertise from other industry participants Provides a codification of knowledge for hiring and developing personnel Allows staff to focus on value-added activities (i.e. not system maintenance) Comprehensive, credible and robust examination system Input from a wide field of experts Structure (Procedures, organization hierarchy, etc.) Facilitates global personnel proficiency analysis and individual company visibility of personnel strengths and weaknesses, and can drive targeted action (e.g. training) Increases visibility of qualified personnel Will help prevent exam duplication for suppliers one industry exam accepted by its Members 9

10 Companies or individuals from aerospace OEMs, airlines, suppliers and other interested parties are welcome to participate in the following ways: Member: may attend meetings of eqmc and/or Exam/Review Board and vote in their ballots, contribute to Body of Knowledge and exam development and approval Participant: may attend eqmc and/or Exam/Review Board meetings, depending on their area of interest. May contribute to Body of Knowledge development and comment in ballots but is not eligible to vote or contribute to exams equalified is independent of any other PRI program or activity. Participants represent themselves or their companies they do not represent a larger group of constituents. 10
