2 Product Updates Candidate photos for ID verification To give your programs an edge in the credentialing market, we re adding candidate photos as an additional way to verify candidates. ID verification is a key part of your certification programs that brings value and authenticity to your candidates credentials. Demographic information is the most common way to provide ID verification online, but this type of data changes often and can sometimes be unreliable for verification purposes. With the 1601 release, you can make candidate photos part of the Credential Manager verification process. A candidate s most recent photo taken at a test center will be used. 1 The photos are sent to Credential Manager with exam results as part of the biometric data captured during test center admissions processes. Photos will be used in three important Credential Manager features: Credential verification reports (Publish Credentials), candidate profiles, and Candidate Merge. Adding photos to these features will benefit you, your candidates, and third parties. To start using candidate photos in Credential Manager, Pearson VUE must be your organization s Test Service Provider (TSP). You ll then need to contact your TAM to include biometrics in your exam result imports so that photos are sent to Credential Manager as part of the exam result feed. Credential verification reports (Publish Credentials) Publish Credentials is an easy way for candidates to send a secure, authentic credential verification report to third parties such as employers. The third party receives an with a secure link to the report, which shows the candidate s demographic information and credentials. Adding candidates photos to these reports gives third parties an additional way to confirm candidate identity, therefore increasing the value of the credential. Candidates also see the photo they are sending to potential or current employers when previewing their credential reports. 1 You can also manually upload a photo to a candidate s record from the File Repository. Credential Manager will always display the most recent photo regardless of whether the file is imported from Pearson VUE or uploaded manually. Keep in mind that if you only use photos imported from VUE, some candidates will not have a photo available until exam results are imported into Credential Manager. 3 Candidate profiles (Personal Information/demographics) Candidates profiles contain key demographic information including name, address, ID numbers, phone numbers, and . Candidates can access their profile to keep their information current, which helps ensure they receive important materials related to their certifications, such as paper certificates or renewal notices. Adding photos to their profiles will give candidates additional affirmation that they are accessing their own profile. CSRs and administrators can verify that the photo on file for a candidate is correct, and compare the profile photo to photos from other sources such as previous exam results. If your organization checks photo IDs as part of the application process, you can compare photos from their Credential Manager profile to the photo on their ID card. Candidate Merge Match rules are used to identify incoming candidate demographics that are a potential match to existing candidates in the database. However, your match rules may not catch every instance of a potential match and duplicate candidate records are created as a result. In these cases, you can use the Candidate Merge tool to compare two candidate records side-by-side and determine if the records should be merged. During a standard merge, the winning record overrides the losing record s demographic data, and all demographic data associated with the losing record is removed from the candidate s account. Any facts (exam results, forms, etc.) tied to the losing record are added to the winning record. During an Advanced merge, you can select which demographics should be applied. Candidate photos will help you quickly determine if the candidates should be merged. After the merge is performed, the resulting candidate will have the combined fact history from both candidates. Credential Manager will then use the most recent photo on record for the resulting candidate. 2 2 Candidate photos will not appear on Candidate Match pages. Matching is used for incoming candidates who do not yet have a Credential Manager record created. (Candidate Match pages are accessed when you open a candidate from the Candidate Queue.) 4 Show rescinded credentials for invalidated exam results In certain cases, a candidate s exam results need to be invalidated. When this happens, candidates lose any current certification(s) that were achieved based on the exam result. With the 1601 release, a candidate s rescinded credentials can be displayed for the invalidated exam result in the candidate s history. This makes it easy to see which credentials were lost as a result of an invalidated exam, and can also help you and your candidates track the cause for a rescinded credential. Contact your TAM if you would like to enable this feature. Once your TAM enables the permissions, you can follow the steps below. To view credentials that were rescinded due to an invalidated exam: 1. Open the candidate s record and go to the History page. 2. Click the Details link for the invalidated Exam event. 3. Under the Exam Result Details header, you can see the exam result listed as Invalid and the list of credentials that were removed. 5 Editable expiration dates for exam results Many professionals are required to keep up with industry knowledge and best practices through continuing education, and need to renew or re-test on a regular basis. Setting an expiration date for an exam result is one way to help manage these types of certification lifecycles. You can set expiration dates for your exam series in Credential Manager 3. However, some unique circumstances require manual intervention from a Technical Account Manager or administrator to manage a candidate s program progress. For example, you might want to reset an exam result expiration date to give a military candidate more time to complete program requirements. With the 1601 release, you can edit the expiration date of an exam result in a candidate s history. The new expiration date can be any day after the date the candidate took the exam. Contact your TAM if you would like to enable this feature. Once your TAM enables the permissions, you can follow the steps below. To edit the expiration date of an exam result for a candidate: 1. Open the candidate s record and go to the History page. 2. In the History list, click the Details link for the Exam event. 3. Under Exam Result Details, click the Update link next to the Exam Expires date. 4. Select a new expiration date from the calendar and click Update. 3 Expiration policies are configured for an exam by going to Program Manager > Manage Exam Series and selecting an expiration date. 6 Pass/fail section grades in candidate exam history When candidates inquire about their exam results or testing experience, administrators and customer service representatives often need to verify data on a candidate's exam performance to resolve their issues or answer their questions. Depending on the exam or program, a candidate s performance for each section of the exam may be important. Previously, scores for each section were only available on the Advanced Exam Information page, and in some cases these scores do not necessarily indicate whether a candidate passed or failed the section. With the 1601 release, you can see the pass and fail grades listed for each exam section on the main page of a candidate s exam history. Contact your TAM if you would like to enable this feature. Once your TAM enables the permissions, you can follow the steps below. To view a candidate s pass/fail section grades: 1. Open the candidate s record and go to the History page. 2. Click Details for the desired exam event. 3. 7 Maintenance, Updates, and Fixes Maintenance Improved speed and performance on the EBE Templates page If you ve ever worked with EBE templates, you ve likely experienced long loading times on the EBE template selection page. In extreme circumstances, the EBE template page could take 5 minutes or more to load. We re happy to announce that with the 1601 release, the EBE Templates page will now load in approximately 10 seconds! In addition to speed improvements, we ve also reconfigured the navigation so you can directly access the EBE Templates page. When you go to Program Management > Manage EBEs, the EBE Templates page will load first instead of the EBE Rules page, as shown below: Internet Explorer 8 unsupported on the candidate and provider sides Over the past few months we ve announced our end of support for IE8 and below on the candidate side. As of the 1601 release, we will no longer test or fix bugs related to Internet Explorer 8 and below on the candidate/provider side, unless they affect security or data integrity. Candidates and providers can continue using IE8 at their own risk. If a candidate or provider logs in to Credential Manager with IE8 or below, a message is displayed at the top of each page: Credential Manager no longer supports the version of Internet Explorer you are running. Log back in using a newer version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari and try again. To summarize: For administrators: IE8 and below is already blocked. Administrators using IE8 and below are prevented from accessing Credential Manager. For candidates and providers: IE8 and below is unsupported. Candidates and providers can still access Credential Manager using IE8 or below, but their experience may be limited. We currently support newer versions of Internet Explorer and the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. 8 Minor Updates and Bug Fixes The Credential Management team fixed the following issues: Fixed an issue with Badge creation Action links on UDAs/Supporting Requirements page FAQs Badge requests Imports Long load times for Form pages Add/Edit Product Page Product Category Page Resolution Badges are now sent to Acclaim with the appropriate local time zone, instead of defaulting to Central Time (CST/CDT). Badges are now issued on the correct day according to the time zone in which it was issued. Candidates no longer see the View and Invalidate links when viewing their submitted UDAs/Supporting Requirements. Special characters used in FAQs are now displaying properly. Issue with time stamp format has been corrected. Improved handling of connectivity-caused import errors. Improved database performance enhancement for Form Manager pages. Required field indicators have been added. Required field indicator has been added.
