2 TAFE SA Information Technology Studies program can offer you vocational education and training (VET) for schools as part of our nationally recognised training package and is available to students from Years 10 to 12 as part of their normal school curriculum. TAFE SA's Information Technology VET for Schools program helps students: develop practical, industry-specific skills develop an understanding of the world of work gain a nationally recognised qualification. VET study also counts towards the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is the perfect pathway into further information technology study at TAFE SA. It can also prepare students for employment or gaining an apprenticeship or traineeship. Our short courses offer a taste of the information technology industry, promoting a good understanding of the scope and career options available. From these courses, students can continue their studies onto further certificate courses. Our teaching practices include workshops, tutorials and demonstrations, online spaces, forums, electronic portfolios, online classes and face-to-face delivery, all designed to engage students and assist with reaching their goals. All courses are taught by highly qualified industry professionals supported by hands-on practical activities and linkages to vendor certifications. 3 CERTIFICATE II IN INFORMATION, DIGITAL MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY This qualification provides the foundation skills and knowledge to use information and communications technology (ICT) in any industry. The subject content may include digital and social media, hardware and software configuration, basic troubleshooting, setting up a basic wireless network, and using application packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Fees: $2,520 SACE Credits: This course may entitle you to SACE credits. Please check the SACE website for further information. Students have the opportunity to gain a number of industry certificates as well as a TAFE SA certificate. This qualification can be a pathway to Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology (ICT30115) or a range of other Certificate III qualifications. Students can gain a number of skill sets without having to complete the whole certificate. 4 CERTIFICATE III IN INFORMATION, DIGITAL MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technical functions and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced ICT user. People working at this level will support information technology activities in the workplace across a wide range of ICT areas, including technical support, network administration, web technologies, software applications and digital media technologies. There are many options for you to study the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology at TAFE SA. They are structured slightly differently to allow students a range of options in what they may choose to study at this level, as well as providing different groundings for students looking to study a higher qualification. The table below shows the subjects needed to complete the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology. Students can choose between two different streams of study. Group 1 contains units with a focus on Networking and Group 2 contains units with a focus on Software and Programming. Students need to choose either Group 1 or Group 2. Fees: Software - $3,060 Networking - $3,180 TAFE SA is offering students the opportunity to enrol in a range of courses at heavily subsidised prices. 6 Short Courses Information Technology Introduction to C# Programming Description: This course introduces the programming constructs of sequence, selection and iteration, along with an introduction to modularisation, parameter passing, array handling and file processing. Small command-line programs and/or games are developed using the Visual Studio 2010 C#.NET programming language. Website Development / Digital Media Description TAFE SA offers a range of accredited and non-accredited IT short courses in Networking and Security, Applications and Programming, Website Development and Digital Media delivered either online or within a classroom. Digital Literacy Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel & PowerPoint Training Description: This course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate three commercial software packages such as Microsoft suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Using these packages design, create and produce basic documents. Length: 24 hours online Price: $775 Use Advanced Features of MS Word, Excel & Access Description: This course covers computer applications to their full capacity employing all advanced features such as creating macros and templates for word processors, using advanced formulas and functions for spreadsheet applications and creating multi-table relationships, advanced queries, forms, reports and macros using a database application. Building a website using HTML5 and CSS3 Description: This course teaches the user how to create a website from scratch using HTML5 and CSS3. 7 Intoduction to MySQL Description: This course covers the basics of SQL and fundamentals of database design including aspects such as primary and foreign keys, and referential integrity. This subject is designed to provide you with the basic skills necessary to design and implement a relational database. Available in class or online.
