Strathmore University is among the universities that pioneered Information and Communication Technology training for management. Students have access to 8 computer labs that are equipped with over 300 computers which, apart from class bookings, are available for general use. Students have access to unlimited Internet facilities and a wide range of software, including electronic mail. STRONG RESEARCH BASIS The foundation for all Strathmore programmes is provided by international faculty and the research they carry out. Strathmore works closely with Strathmore Research and Consultancy Centre (SRCC), which also undertakes research and maintains links with industry so as to keep our teaching and learning at the cutting-edge. WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY The University has deployed a wireless network in its Madaraka campus. While the computer labs with nearly 300 desktop machines remain in the wired network, this new initiative targets the growing base of students who would like to access in formation and learning material from their classrooms, lecture halls, the cafeteria, court yards and the library. What can be accessed Most students opted to purchase laptops once they realised they could access the Internet from wherever they may be situated in the campus. Nearly all the MBA students carry laptops to their lecture halls and can access any references the teacher provides in the Internet. One of the main resources for access is the E-learning system where students can view the coursework material that lecturers have posted, submit their UNIVERSITY LIBRARY Strathmore University Library comprises a new library complex with a floor space of 2,500 square metres. There is also a university library reading room that has a floor space of 530 square metres. The atmosphere is highly conducive to private study and research. The wide range of course reference works and books of general interest available in the new two-story complex contributes to the university s excellent academic performance.

4 STUDENT LIFE PROFESSIONAL COURSES CAFETERIA FACILITIES Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA ) The cafeteria is the venue on campus for socialising, during breaks between classes, over the lunch hour, or in the evening after classes. The cafeteria offers a wide variety of nutritious and mouth-watering dishes, soft drinks and juices, for takeaway or the usual cafeteria style. Unique for its inclusive atmosphere professors, students and other staff mingling freely - the cafeteria is the favourite place on campus. University life and can actually help you achieve academic success. The Strathmore sports program includes soccer, basketball, hockey, table tennis, karate, aerobics and much more. FINANCIAL AID Full and partial Scholarships are available on competitive basis to all students. Some of the Scholarship schemes available are Strathmore University Bursary Scheme, Strathmore University Sports Bursary, European Union Bursary Fund, EABL Scholarship, Martyn Drakard Fund and other individual and corporate sponsors. The CFA an internationally respected profession designation conferred by the CFA Institute Program and the questions on the CFA examinations are geared for individuals who are prepared to deal with master level course work. No specific prerequisite courses of study are prescribed for enrolling in the CFA program, but applicants should be aware that assigned readings in many topics areas are beyond a basic, introductory level. Part time - 3 years July STUDENT PLACEMENT EVENTS, CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES Involvement in a club is one of the best ways to enjoy your time as a student at Strathmore University. Clubs are an excellent way to make friends, enjoy activities, and learn things you will never learn in a lecture theatre. Involvement with a club also gives you the chance to develop very useful organisational skills. However, there are many affordable privately-owned facilities around the University. Students are assisted to find a hostel by being provided with information on the different hostel facilities available near the University. The mark of excellence for a professional certification program is the value and recognition it bestows on the individual who achieves it. Since 1978, the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) program, sponsored by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), has been the globally accepted standard of achievement among IS audit, control and security professionals. Part time - 6 months January and July Relevant work experience (students will have to provide documentary evidence of at least 6 months work experience) Certificates acquired (both

5 professional and academic). Admissible certifications include but not limited to CPA, ACCA, CIA, MCSE, MCSD, CCNA, CCNP, CCNE, BBIT, BCOM, BSc, LLB, LLM, MBA, MSc, PhD. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM ) Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is a certification for information security managers awarded by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). To gain the certifications, individuals must pass a written examination and have at least five years of information security experience with a minimum three years of information security management work experience in particular fields. s and Exam Fees The CISM Course runs from January to May in preparation for the June exam and July to November in preparation for the December Exam. Classes are normally on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. Exam fees range from KES 50,000 upwards (depending on your time of registration).the course is examined by ISACA ( In order to attend tuition for the CISM programme, you will be required to gain admission into Strathmore University. Interviews Interviews are done on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. For this please bring 3 passport photos, KES 1000 for interview fees and originals & copies of your National ID/Passport/Birth certificate and academic certificates. The University provides free transport from town before classes and to town after classes. Entry Requirements A professional or academic qualification in any field and six months working experience Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) The ACA title from ICAEW is internationally recognised as the premier financial business qualification. In more than 160 countries it is considered as one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available. The qualification is valued around the world in the business, professional practice and the public sectors. Members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) can study for the ACA and apply to join ICAEW. ICPAK members need to sit three examinations in total, namely, Corporate Reporting, Strategic Business Management, and Case Study. Besides, ACA students would need to complete relevant technical work experience before applying for ICAEW membership. More information on this career as an ACA can be found at Certified Public Accountant (CPA) A course in Accountancy serves students a basis for a career in many professional fields, for example Engineering, Law, Architecture, Medicine, Dentistry or Building Economics. A basic knowledge of Accountancy gives the necessary background to run one s future business according to sound financial principles. Full Time and Part time -3 years January and July You may register as a student of KASNEB after attaining one of the following qualifications: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination with an aggregate average of at least a grade C plus (C+) provided that you have obtained a minimum of a grade C plus (C+) in both English and Mathematics. KASNEB will evaluate any marginal cases on their own merit. Kenya Accounting Technicians Certificate or the Accounts Clerk National Certificate. A degree from a recognised university Such other certificates or diplomas as may be approved by the Board of KASNEB. Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) (For examinations in September and December.) The ACCA qualification is designed to provide students with the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values which will deliver finance professionals who are capable of building successful careers across public or private sectors, practising in accounting firms in any country throughout the world, with a strong focus on professional values, ethics and governance. Strathmore University is an accredited ACCA Premiere Plus tuition provider. Full Time and Part time - 3 years January and July A level (at least 2 principal passes) OR Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination - mean grade of a C in both English and Mathematics ABE Certificate (Association of Business Executive) CPA Part 1 holders OR Kenya Accounting Technician course (KATC) Intermediate & Final Degree from a recognised university Mature Students Entry Route MSER at least 21 years of age.
