3 FOREWORD We wish to welcome you to ZCAS, the tertiary accountancy and business training institution of choice in the region. Located in lush gardens in the heart of Lusaka, ZCAS boasts of some of the finest and most advanced teaching and learning facilities in Zambia and the region. Passionate and qualified lecturing staff and networked computing laboratories coupled with air conditioned lecture theatres and halls create a truly unique learning environment. The ZCAS Professional experience includes extensive support during registration, intensive revision and examination preparation, up-to-date physical and electronic libraries, highly qualified, highly skilled trainers and lecturers, world class study and accommodation facilities as well as an outstanding online learning platform, and social counselling and job placement service. Because of this reputation, the Centre has attracted students from countries such as Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Botswana and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The pursuit of excellence has always been a hallmark of ZCAS. Since its founding in 1989, the Centre has played a major role in training accounting and information technology professionals. The Centre has widened its scope in recent years and added more programmes in commercial law, general business management, marketing, management and economics to offer much broader career choices to prospective students and sponsors. The Centre's completed multimillion dollar expansion project as well as the diversification of its programme portfolio to include more professional programmes were all major ventures which ZCAS undertook as part of its strategic response to its growth agenda. ZCAS prides itself in being responsive to customer needs and therefore runs many of its programmes on alternative bases such as part-time (evening classes) and distance education (mostly online). Each year, ZCAS has continued to graduate high quality professionals from the different disciplines on offer. In this regard, all new programme offerings continue to reflect the ZCAS philosophy of quality and excellence. Therefore, the available programmes offer students opportunities to advance in industry and to pursue advanced professional qualifications. ZCAS is an ACCA Platinum Learning Provider and ZiCA Platinum Partner, accredited to offer tuition and support at all levels. ZCAS is also a CIMA Quality Partner and Pearson VUE Centre authorised to administer Computer Based Examinations. Other Professional Programmes offered include ZIM, NCC, CISCO, ZIoBFS, ABE, CIPS, ZIPS and Project Management diplomas. Students that complete these professional qualifications can be granted exemptions and pursue top-up degree programmes. 4 Full Time or Part Time Foundations in Accountancy Foundations in Accountancy consist of a suite of awards, including certificates, diplomas and a revised Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Qualification. These flexible awards focus on the core skills of financial accounting and management accounting; and the wider role of the accountant in business at higher levels. The range of awards means employers can pick the level of qualification which most appropriately meets their business needs. In addition, it provides students with flexible entry points with certification awarded at each level, allowing students to tailor the awards, making them an attractive and relevant choice for employers. 4 ACCA Professional The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global body for professional accountants whose aim is to offer business-relevant, first choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world seeking a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management. The organisation has over 140,000 members and 404,000 students throughout careers, providing services through a network of 83 offices and active centres. ACCA's global infrastructure entails that examinations and support are delivered - and reputation and influence developed - at a local level, directly benefiting stakeholders wherever they are based. The main focus is on professional values, ethics, and governance, and it delivers value-added services through 57 global accountancy partnerships, working closely with multinational and small entities to promote global standards and support. The ZCAS offers all the levels of ACCA. The Courses are offered either on full time or part time basis. All courses are offered twice annually commencing in January/July for the succeeding June/December examinations respectively. Knowledge - Only available to mature age students with field experience. Skills - Completion of ACCA, FIA or ZICA Technician. Essentials - Completion of Skills level. The centre is not currently offering P6, Advanced Taxation. Applicants should normally be at least 16 years of age. No formal academic qualifications are necessary to register, though grade 12 graduates with 6 points in English and Mathematics are encouraged to study this programme. Full Time or Part Time CIMA Professional The CIMA programme has a robust assessment method that equip students with real life skills and competencies that employers need which are woven into the syllabus. The syllabus is strong on core accounting skill and also includes sustainability, integrated reporting and finance function transformation. ZCAS offers all the levels of the examinations of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Certificate in Business Accounting (CBA) course to school leavers. Successful completion of this course offers automatic entry into the CIMA operational Level, Managerial and susequently Strategic Level. All assessments are computer based and in the case of objective tests are available on demand. CBA - No formal academic qualifications are necessary to register, though grade 12 graduates with 6 points are encouraged to study this programme.

5 Full Time or Part Time Banking and Finance Programme ZCAS offers Banking and Finance Certificate and Diploma programmes in conjunction with the Zambia institute of Banking and Financial Services - There are two semesters per year: The May semester and the November semester. - Upon completion of the full diploma, students are awarded some exemptions on the BA in Financial Services degree program. Operational level - Completion of CBA, FIA or ZICA Technician Full Time or Part Time Five (Merits) passes at 'O' - Level including English and Mathematics. Full Time or Part Time ZICA Accountancy Programme - Diploma in Accountancy (DA). five O level credits. The Diploma in Accounting Programme will have two levels withseven (7) modules or papers in level one and five (5) modules or papers in level two. Graduates of DA will be exempted from level 1 (knowledge level) of CA plus two papers in level 1 (application level) of CA. - Chartered Accountant (CA) Zambia. five O level merits, including English and Mathematics. The CA Zambia Programme will have three levels, with 6 modules at knowledge level, 5 modules at application level and 3 compulsory subjects plus 2 optional subjects from a choice of three routes, Public Practice, Business, and Public Sector at Advisory level. Association of Business Executives (ABE) ABE courses are offered twice annually commencing in January or July for the June/December examinations respectively. Upon completion of the level 6 diploma in Business Management, students have a choice of either proceeding with the postgraduate diploma or going into the final year of the Business Studies degree with the University of Greenwich. O Level passes in 5 subjects which must include English and Mathematics.. 5

6 CIM Professional The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the world's largest professional body of Marketing. The institute shares a passion for Marketing, leads the development of professional standards and practice and champions the big issues and new ideas in the Marketing world. ZCAS offers CIM programmes twice annually commencing in January/July for the June/December examinations r espectively. This is an open access qualification - no Marketing experience is required. It is meant for school leavers who would want to take up a career in Marketing. However, some work experience would be advantageous. Full Time or Part Time Full Time Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) The CIPS Programme provides a well rounded approach to Business Purchasing and Supply chain Management which are sought after both in industry and academics. O Level passes in 5 subjects which must include English and Mathematics.. Full Time or Part Time Full Time CISCO - Networking This course provides an excellent introduction to the IT industry and interactive exposure to personal computers, hardware, and operating systems. Students participate in hands-on activities and lab-based learning to become familiar with various hardware and software components and discover best practices in maintenance and safety. Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) The ZIPS Programme provides a well rounded approach to Business Purchasing and Supply Chain Management which is sought after bothin industry and academics. O Level passes in 5 subjects which must include English and Mathematics. Full Time 6 6

7 Available option: ZIM Certified Professional Programme Full Time ZCAS offers a two and half years professional framework from the Foundation Diploma level 3 up to the Advanced NCC Education Diploma level 5 award in Computing in conjunction with NCC Education, UK. These qualifications (level 3 to 5) are recognised on the Qualification and Credit Foundation (QCF) in England. The NCC is a UK based institution, which provides internationally recognized IT qualifications with effective and practical business-oriented skills. The qualification is aimed at school leavers who wish to acquire a degree from a prestigious UK university. It is also an ideal qualification for IT professionals looking to update their skills. NCC Education School leavers with at least 5 credits that include English and Mathematics. Full Time ZIM Professional Diploma The purpose of the programme is to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes in Marketing to enable them perform competently in both the formal and informal sector of the economy. Qualified marketing graduates will play a vital role in enhancing enterprise development in creating a competitive nationality regionally and internationally. As a minimum, 5 'O' levels are required Project Management The Project Management programme is designed to expose would-be graduates to the following skills and competences. Demonstrate ability to select and organize viable projects in line with the overall organizations' objectives Demonstrate ability to plan and optimize the project using various tools and techniques Demonstrate ability to use Information Technology (Project Management software) to manage the project Demonstrate ability to provide Project Management leadership using various techniques such as managing organizational change and ability to solve problems Demonstrate ability to provide effective Project Management Closure or handover at various stage 7

8 It is a requirement that applicants should be working in a Project environment or they must have been working in the project environment before in order for them to appreciate the programme No exemptions will be given to any student as this is an assessment based programme.
