3 BOUT SPA Institute Pte Ltd (hereinafter known as SPA Institute) was founded in Its historical focus has been providing consultancy, training and assessment in the spa industry, with a particular focus on spa therapists knowledge and skills. Presently, SSI has a dedicated and professional team of trainers and administrative staff. Our trainers are all ACTA certified with the relevant qualifications. They also have many years of working and training experience in the spa and wellness industry. To be the leading training institute of the spa, beauty and wellness industry in the region. Singapore SPA Institute (SSI) Pte Ltd was set up to merge the operations of the former SPA Institute Pte Ltd (established in 1997) and the newly acquired operations of a Spa Continuing Education Training (CET) Centre based on the WSQ framework. It is a 100% locally owned enterprise, incorporated in January 2009 to provide quality WSQ training and assessment for the spa industry. SSI ensures that the training programmes and courses are developed according to the needs of the industry, such that they are: relevant to the spa industry attuned to industry standards, trends and demands accessible to industry personnel with minimal barriers progressive in terms of providing career pathways for workers with abilities

7 SQ TOURISM WSQ SPA SECTOR Tourism Workforce Skills Qualifications Spa Sector? The SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and the Tourism Industry Skills and Training Council (ISTC) have jointly developed the Tourism Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system. Launched in Oct 2007, the WSQ Spa is a national qualifications system under the tourism workforce framework. Qualifications levels are matched to Occupational Job Levels: a. Managerial = Diploma b. Supervisory = Advanced Certificate c. Operations = Certificate Under the system, workers are assessed on their competencies in their job, and will receive national recognition from certificate to diploma levels if they meet the competency standards. Entry into the system is open with no academic prerequisites, so more workers can benefit. This is particularly significant to the Tourism sector to raise the skills profile of the workers, as a majority of them have secondary or less education. 8 QUALIFICATION OBJECTIVES To meet customer needs and expectations through the delivery of quality spa products and services delivered by a courteous, supported, well-trained, and motivated workforce. SUGGESTED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Trainees are expected to demonstrate competency at Level 3 for ES WSQ WPLN. MODULES To attain a full qualification in WSQ Certificate in Spa Services, you must complete 7 competency units comprising 3 core units PLUS any 4 elective units and attain at least 11 credits.
