4 Notice to Members Notice is hereby given to the members of ISACA, Bangalore Chapter that the Seventeenth Annual General Meeting of the Bangalore Chapter will be held at 2.00 pm to 5.30 PM on Saturday the 05 th October, 2013 at Regalis Hotel, 40/2, Lavelle Road, Bangalore , to transact the following business: Agenda To approve the AGM Minutes of 2012 To consider and adopt the 17th Annual Report To consider and approve Audited accounts for the year ended 31st March 2013 To appoint statutory auditors for the year and fix their remuneration To Elect Executive Committee Members (EC members) for the Executive Committee for the year (Elections will be held, if required) For ISACA-Bangalore Chapter Place: Bangalore Date: 6 th September 2013 S. Sridhar Hon. Secretary NOTE 1. Members who have opted for affiliation to Bangalore Chapter and whose membership is valid and current as on 30 th June 2013 are eligible to participate in the AGM. 2. Members are requested to bring their identity card (or any other proof indicating their membership status) to Annual General Meeting. 3. Members who wish to send their nomination for elections to the Executive Committee (EC) are required to submit nomination form, duly filled in, at the chapter office. 4. Rules, procedures and application to file nominations for the EC are available at chapter website 5. Last date for submission of the nomination is before 5.00pm. 6. Last date for withdrawal of nomination is before 5 p.m. 7. Announcement of the final list of candidates contesting for elections Members are requested to write to the chapter office one week in advance with regards to any clarifications required in Financials, etc. matters. 9. 5 Seventeenth Annual Report of the Executive Committee ISACA Bangalore Chapter Dear Members, We are very happy to present this Annual Report of the Bangalore Chapter for the period from October 2012 to September Like last year, this year will also be remembered for conducting of COBIT 5 Seminars on and The member interest has been very high and the response to chapter events has also been at a greater height. Introduction The Bangalore Chapter of ISACA was organized and chartered on 5 th January 1996 and is 138 th Chapter of the ISACA, USA. The Bangalore Chapter is one of the Very Large Chapters and has a membership of varied credentials and areas of profession. The unique cross section of members makes it a very active Chapter along with size. As per the statistics available, the Bangalore Chapter now stands second in India. Recognitions and Awards The chapter was honored with Award of the K.Wayne Snipes Award for the 2012 under the category of Very Large Chapters in Asia. Our Chapter has been missing this award over the last few years and it is doubly satisfying to see it in our hands. Our chapter has also received the award for the highest membership growth in 2012 amongst all Very Large Chapters of ISACA. Both these awards are a due in large measure to the excellent foundation laid by our previous chapter leaders and the committed work of our active members. The award will be formally presented to your chapter at the 2013 Asia Leadership Conference scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February Again, congratulations on a job very well done by your chapter board and your active members who have no doubt contributed significantly to this achievement. Executive Committee Meetings EC meetings were held regularly every month with flexibility on dates to ensure maximum attendance. During the period under review 11 EC meetings were held. The meetings are attended by EC members and special invitees. We could conceptualize, plan and execute all the Chapter activities through these meetings. We could efficiently govern the chapter through a collective decision making process. The activities of the Chapter have been broadly aligned with vision of ISACA-HQ. Sl. 7 In addition to the above, the chapter has conducted 2 special EC meet to discuss Annual Conference on 16 th Feb and 23 rd March Also one Building Committee meet was conducted on 27 th April 2013 on the matter to find a new & more spacious Building for the Chapter. It is also proposed to conduct one meeting on 14 th September, 2013 to discuss the general activities and income tax returns for the FY Meetings held - from October 2012 to August 2013 As seen from above, 11 E.C. monthly meetings, 2 Special EC Meetings & 1 Building Committee Meeting were held during this period to discuss various issues and manage chapter activities. 9 Seminars/ Workshops: We had a workshop of INTRODUCTION TO COBIT 5 in the month of February, 2013 and which was sponsored by IDRBT & Vijaya Bank. 167 participants benefited from the workshop against planned capacity of 175. The participants had a complete overview of the latest, only and most comprehensive framework of governance of enterprise IT (GEIT) by Mr. Avinash Kadam, the COBIT 5 taskforce member. This is by far, the biggest COBIT5 event in India. We had also conducted a free INTRODUCTION TO COBIT 5 in the month of July, 2013 to the members those who have registered for the 16 th Conference under early bird category. 57 participants have attended and benefited from the workshop against planned capacity of 75. The participants had a complete overview of the latest, only and most comprehensive framework of governance of enterprise IT (GEIT) by Mr. CA. A.Rafeq, who is also the COBIT 5 task force member. Based on the feedback from the earlier candidates we have invited industry experts/ Domain experts to deliver lecture on these occasions. The overall feedback from the attended candidates has been quite satisfactory.

10 Our Chapter conducted CISA / CISM / CGEIT/ CRISC introductory programs twice at Bangalore with 44 participants on 2 nd February, 2013 and on 7 th July, 2013 with 36 participants CISA / CISM review classes, crash courses and Mock Tests were also conducted for December 2012, June 2013 & September, 2013 examinations. We have also started CISA Review Course Classes from 1 st September for December 2013 exam with 27 students. 13 Chapter Newsletter The Chapter has taken all steps to publish the News Letters every quarter with out fail. Quarterly Newsletters were published as per schedule. The September 2013 issue is getting ready for release with additional features and articles in time for AGM in October Chapter has distributed the printed News Letters free of cost to several colleges, educational institutions and Universities with in Bangalore and the Karnataka state. Chapter Website The Chapter has continued its efforts in upgrading the award winning website and making it more informative, current and presentable. News from Head Quarters, chapter activities, events and programs are regularly updated. The presentations of the CPE meets and the photo gallery of Chapter activities are made available on the web site for members benefit. The online payment facility is gaining popularity among the members for registering for the events. We observe an encouraging response to the online forum added to the site last year. As usual the highest number of hits has been from visitors to the website from other parts of the world. Highest hits have been during the Month of June 2013 at 3,29,891 with highest number of unique visitors in June 2013 at 5,959 Chapter Strength The Chapter has a registered membership of 980 members as on 31 st July The chapter membership has gone up from 870 from the June As mentioned earlier, this is in continuation of our award winning performance of growth for calendar year The executive committee is striving to boost the membership of the chapter further by various membership and certification initiatives. The Chapter has members from varied professional backgrounds viz. Audit, Information Security and Compliance, Technology experts as well as in Senior and Middle management positions in a variety of organizations Global Leadership Conference 2013 Global Leadership Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February, Our President Mr.C.N.Shashidhar has represented the Chapter in the deliberations. Bangalore Chapter bagged the Highest Membership Growth Award & Wayne K Snipes Award under category of Very Large Chapters in Asia. The trophies were presented in the Conference. The Conference was attended by leaders/delegates from chapters all around the Asia Pacific region. Good practices on membership retention and growth, chapter operations, corporate participation in chapter events and activities were discussed and the participants were enriched by the diversity of chapter sizes and their local cultures. Government & Regulatory Affairs The chapter continued its interaction with government and regulatory bodies. 13

14 Visit by Advisor of India Task Force, ISACA ISACA Bangalore had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Avinash Kadam, Advisor India Task Force, ISACA and Past International Vice President of ISACA on the 16 th February, Mr. Kadam led a special 1 day CPE Session about Securing sensitive Personal Data or Information using COBIT 5 for India s IT Amendment Act 2008 (Sponsored by IDRBT, Hyderabad & venue hosted by Vijaya Bank). About 167 members attended the special CPE session, making it the biggest COBIT5 event in India. Funds to meet the objects of the Society Accumulation of bank deposits in the name of the chapter are to the extent of Rs lakhs as on 31 st March 2013 (Previous Year lakhs) against the capital fund balance of Rs lakhs as on 31 st March 2013 (Previous Year lakhs), the chapter is doing well in meeting the objects of the Society. A sum of Rs 7.54 lakhs (Previous Year 5.70 lakhs) has been kept aside from current year surplus to meet the objects of the society. Statutory Auditors Members have appointed the auditors during the 16 th Annual General Meeting. M/s Venkat & Vasan, Chartered Accountants with effect from 1 st April Accordingly, the annual accounts are signed by Mr. Suresh J W FCA (Membership No )) in the name and style of M/s Venkat & Vasan Chartered Accountants.
