3 President s Message Dear Member I am pleased to share your Chapter s activities for the months of May Jun ISACA Karachi conducted workshop Your Chapter conducted a workshop on How IT adds value to Enterprises on Wednesday June 6, 2012 at Marriot Hotel, Karachi. Presentation was given by Mr.Faisal Ejaz Khan (Chief Executive Officer of 1Link Guarantee Ltd). Two CPE Hours were awarded to the chapter members.a large number of Chapter members attended the event. ISACA Karachi Chapter won Best Website Award from ISACA. I am very delighted to inform you that your chapter has won ISACA Silver-level website award for the year The Chapter website judgment process for the year 2011 was completed in April Among 190 plus chapters of ISACA International worldwide, this year, the website award has been won by 80 chapters, and your chapter is among one of them. Please accept my heartiest congratulations on this marvelous achievement of your chapter. Two days workshop on BS on June 2012 M/s.Quest Consultants conducted a 2 days training workshop on "BS Business Continuity Management Standard" at Hotel Marriott Karachi. Your chapter awarded 14 CPE Hours to members attended the workshop and Quest Consultants offered 10% discount to the members of ISACA Karachi Chapter. ISACA e-learning Campus The CISA Online Review Course is available on the ISACA e-learning Campus. This interactive, web based course was developed to provide Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA ) exam candidates and ISACA members with an efficient and cost-effective tool for exam preparation and performing information systems audits and reviews. 4 President s Message New CPE Policy from 2012 Effective 1 January 2012, the annual limitation for each ISACA certification for qualifying activities that fall under contributions to the profession has been increased from a 10-hour annual limitation to a 20-hour annual limitation. These activities include work performed for ISACA and other bodies that contribute to the IT audit, control, security and governance professions (i.e., research development, certification review manual development, Knowledge Center contributions). The new policies can be viewed online on the CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC CPE Policy pages. COBIT 5 released COBIT 5 has been released. You may know that COBIT 5 is a major strategic improvement, providing the next generation of guidance on the governance and management of enterprise IT. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) recognition The board of directors of the Phoenixbased National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) has approved the creation of a new category of auditor specifically for conducting electronic media destruction audits. Effective 1 April 2012, NAID auditors inspecting and evaluating electronic media sanitization operations will be required to have the CISA and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certifications. December 2012 exam registration The December exam is scheduled for 8 December Once open, registrations can be placed on the Exam Registration page of the ISACA web site.
