6 Early Childhood Education Level 3 This programme will provide you essential knowledge and skills so that you can care for and educate infants, toddlers and children in an early childhood setting. At the end of the programme, you will have the introductory skills and knowledge to work in an entry-level carer role in a range of early childhood contexts, such as centre-based, home-based, hospital-based, parent-led, or culturally-based environments. For security we will teach you underpinning knowledge common to security personnel such as site, event, retail court and community security, mobile patrol, secure transport and noise control, and for the Armed forces we will help you make it through the rigorous selection process to start your career. 11 Fitting the Bill Night Course This is an open entry programme designed for those wanting to pursue a career in the New Zealand Police Force. This programme will give you the skills and knowledge you need to make your way through the rigorous recruitment process and start your career. Programme Content includes: Theory Component To meet the requirements of the Theory Test including: Verbal analogies Numerical reasoning Abstract reasoning Physical Fitness Component To meet the requirements of the Physical Appraisal and Competence Tests including: 2.4km run assessments Press-ups Sit-ups Preparation: You should try to have: - A Police clearance - A Full (NZ Full Class 1) - A current First Aid Certificate - An Advanced or Defensive Driving Certificate 18 hours in-class tuition - preferably 6 weeks from 5pm - 8pm Students are encouraged to commit as many hours as possible outside of the programme to their own training in the theory and fitness components This programme is arranged so that participants in full time work can attend in the evening Usually held at the Whangarei Campus but if there is sufficient interest, other venues will be considered. 17 Food & Beverage Service This programme is designed for people who want a career in hospitality and to work as service personnel in cafés and unlicensed restaurants, bars or clubs, restaurants which provide table and/or buffet services, establishments which cater to in-house functions or people who are employed as baristas in hospitality establishments. We will help you increase your confidence and teach you skills and knowledge that will support your employment opportunities across a range of establishments, provide a lot of hands on experience and establish standards of professional practice for basic service that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments. 18 Licence Controller Qualification This is an open entry programme designed for those working in, or intending to work in the Hospitality industry. In order to apply for a General or Club Manager Certificate you are required to hold the unit standards that make up the LCQ. Programme content includes: Unit Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises. Unit Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises Preferably two Mondays from 5pm to 8pm This programme is arranged so that participants in full time work can attend in the evening. Programmes can be run at times to suit the industry and participants if there is sufficient interest. They are usually held at the Whangarei Campus but if there is sufficient interest other venues will be considered. Programme fees: $200 GST inclusive Payment due in full prior to the programme Price negotiable for groups, corporate discounts available - please enquire. 24 Server Administration This programme is designed for people who need to update their knowledge and specialist skills to remain current in a specific area of IT practice, in response to changing needs and demands of the dynamic IT environment. We will help you further your confidence and teach you skills and knowledge required by the industry to work on Microsoft s Server 2012 technology. You will be capable of applying Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) skills, knowledge and practice that will be internationally relevant, operating within the applicable professional standards and practice. You will be experienced and qualified in an area of current IT practice - (MCSA) in Server Administration. 34 Workplace Assessor Training This programme is designed to meet the needs of the training industry, to train assessors who need to evaluate performance against unit standards and to ensure competent assessors are available to measure workplace competency. Programme content includes Unit Use Standards to Assess Candidate Performance This unit is suitable for people who assess the performance of others against competency standards, such as NZQA unit standards. It covers: - Planning an assessment using supplied assessment procedures - Carrying out the assessment - Giving feedback to the assessment candidate - Recording and reporting the assessment results As part of the assessment for this unit you must conduct two assessment processes, usually with two candidates. Two consecutive days from 9am - 4pm and ongoing support to complete assessment requirements if necessary. Usually held at the Whangarei Campus but if there is sufficient interest, other venues will be considered.
