3 Scope of document This document will give the person which is connecting the 10 FacilityView digital sign the LAN (Local Area Network) instructions in changing the Network setup if the sign is not custom setup or using DHCP configuration. The document also gives instructions to power and LAN cable connections for the sign. Digital Signs Technology The FacilityView digital sign can be directly compared to a small PC, which needs access to the LAN to get the information from the calender-, Event- or Facility management system which is installed on another PC or Server. The FacilityView sign uses Standard IP configuration methods for 10/100Mbit/sec (IEEE 802.3). If your system is configured to only Gbit/sec the signs will not work. Getting the information from the management system is done by standard http protocol on Port 80 (HTTP/1.1). Another Port can be set up if needed. It is not mandatory that the management system and the sign are on the same LAN or IP range. The only demand is that the sign is able to browse the management website. The system is a client server system where the Management system is the server and it do not need to know the IP identity of the sign, but the sign requires information from the management system. This setup is not a part of this document, but the manual for the management Software installation. Power and LAN Connection With the 10 FacilityView sign is delivered a Modulex Power supply, a power cable for the power supply, a Modulex Ariadne smart box and 5 mtr. Patch cable (RJ45) Please follow the wiring diagram from the FacilityView data sheet. 10 FaclityView

4 IP configuration The FacilityView needs access to the LAN (network) to be able to work. If the IP configuration is delivered to Modulex before the shipment of the sign it will be configured according to these configurations and the signs should access the LAN as soon as the connection is made. An IP configuration can be done in two ways. DHCP which does not require additional information thus it is automatically set up when the signs get contact with the LAN. It requires that a DHCP server is running on the LAN Static IP which require a number of information o IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) o Sub net mask (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) o Gateway (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) o DNS (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) only needed if the management system is on a public webserver. If Modulex has no IP information before shipment of the sign the default configuration will be. DHCP enabled If no DHCP server is running on the LAN the sign will have a static IP o IP ( ) ATTENTION. All signs have the same IP and only one must be connected to the LAN. The IP configuration must be changed to Static IP in the range specified for this LAN before connecting the next sign. Changing IP configuration To change the IP configuration you need to access the Sign. This requires a PC/Labtop on the network where you are able to change the IP range. If you prefer you can use a crossover cable directly from a PC/Labtop to the input port on the smartbox connected to the FacilityView sign. If you do not have the IP configuration needed for the sign you should contact your network manager to get the necessary information for the configuration or ask the network manager to do the configuration. You configure the PC in the Property for LAN Connection tool to a IP (never which will create an network conflict and error) You can now acces the sign by opening your (web) browser and key in the sign IP in the address field You will have a Login window and as standard you use: Uaer: admin Pasword: W52N22

5 On the page opening Sign Schedule Status you have two buttons Activate the Config Configuration page On the page opening Ariadne Event Sign Configuration you have four buttons Activate the Network Setup In the area Ethernet Setting You click to disable the DHCP (the green checkmark shall disappear) and you change the IP address to an IP in the range specified for your LAN. You also need to key in the Subnet mask specified (normaly but it can be different.). In the Network setting

6 You need to key in the actual Default Gateway Then you save and reboote the sign. Attention! You are not able to access the sign from you PC/Labtop with the IP address any more. The sign should now have access to the LAN. Controlling ling LAN access To be sure the sign has the right LAN access you should use a PC on the same LAN and follow this process: Check the text on the signs o The expected IP address should be displayed on the signs o Check if the Number of packages received rise Try to Ping the sign form the PC on the same LAN Try to access the signs form a Browser on a PC on the LAN. When you have positive respons form the sign the FacilityView is ready for installation of manage SW and further configuration.
