2 ERS 8600 Release 7.0 ERS8600 release 7.0 is planning to be released in December. Release 7.0 will include new hardware as well as enhancing the software feature. New 3-slot chassis The 8003-R 3-slot chassis is intended to be a scale down version of the existing 8600 platforms, still delivering the advanced ERS8600 features and high-performance in a compact chassis. 200Gbps Full Duplex Backplane architecture 60Gbps Full Duplex per slot Total of 120Gbps for two slots The chassis inlcude fan tray, RS232 cable for management console and rack mount kit. Important to notice is that 8003-R: Will require software release 7.0 or later Supports only 8692 switch fabric with SuperMezz CPU or the 8695 switch fabric/cpu module Supports up to two 8600 R/RS modules Legacy modules are not supported High availability features requiring two switch fabric cards are not supported The 8003-R chassis support 8005 AC/DC/DI-AC/DI-DC power supplies! Configuration and management of the 8003-R platform will be equivalent to existing ERS 8600 family products SF/CPU The new 8695SF/CPU (Switch Fabric/Control Processor Unit) brings higher performance and built in SuperMezz CPU capabilities. The module includes: 256Gbps Switch Fabric 1GB of DRAM 2GB External compact flash 10/100/1000 out of band management port 8695SF will support 8010, 8010CO, 8006, 8003-R chassis R and RS modules only Any legacy IO modules will automatically be disabled High-Availability (HA) mode Future provision of 4GB Internal Flash, 2GB of DRAM & USB2.0 port

3 Some user-visible differences and enhancements include: No need for a mezzanine card and no provision for a mezzanine card anymore There will be distinct boot monitor, run-time images, and security modules for the new CPU The existing PCMCIA card is replaced with a compact flash (CF) card There will be no change to existing configuration format or save and restore procedures. Configuration with a mix of existing and redesigned SF/CP blades will be supported during a system upgrade. Release 7.0 adds the following set of new features: IP Routing / Virtualization IPv6 SMLT/RSMLT VRRPv3 DHCPv6 Relay BGP4+ RADIUS v6 IP Multinetting Multicast Multicast VLAN Registration IGMP Querier for L2 (see below for more details) PIM SSM for SMLT Security BPDU Filtering Dynamic ARP Inspection DHCP Snooping IP Source Guard Multicast enhancements Release 7.0 add to the multicast features making the ERS8600 a very capable multicast solution. The following features are added: L2 Querier With the L2 Querier function allows you to configure multicast in a layer 2 network/vlan without the need for an IP multicast router. ERS8600 can be configured to work as the IGMP Querier without being configured for PIM and DVMPR multicast routing. The following functionality is provided: The system can handle IGMPv1/v2/v3 messages Supports backward compatibility (ie. supports v1, v2 reports on a v3 interface) Supports Fast leave and snoop proxy features

4 IGMP L2 Querier feature is based on snoop feature IGMP L2 Querier functionality is virtualized IGMP L2 Querier and MVR functionality cannot be enabled on the same vlan More than one L2 Querier in the same vlan i.e. L2 Querier election is currently not supported Multicast VLAN registration Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) allows the single multicast VLAN to be shared in the network while subscribers remain in separate VLANs. MVR is based upon IGMP Snoop, but these 2 features can work independently of each other. When a multicast data stream is received to MVR vlan, it will be replicated to all receiver vlan associated/bind to MVR vlan VPN Gateway release 8.0 Nortel is pleased to announce General Availability of Release V8.0.1 of the Nortel VPN Gateway (NVG). The NVG provides a comprehensive suite of secure access services using SSL and IPSec VPN technologies. The NVG is used to securely connect employees, partners, contractors and customers to enterprise applications and data anywhere, anytime. The Nortel VPN Gateway is the most scalable, best performing VPN solution on the market today. Software Release expands upon previous releases providing significant new functionality in the areas of user access and application portability. The new Application Virtualization functionality for the Secure Portable Office feature enables end users to bring their business applications with them while enabling access to their corporate infrastructure by simply plugging their VPN enabled USB jump drive into any PC with Internet access. The Nortel VPN Gateway is a network appliance that is purpose built and security hardened to meet the access and security needs of the extended enterprise. In addition to the purpose built hardware appliance, a lower cost full functionality VMWare virtual appliance is introduced with code stream.

5 VMware Optimized Virtual Appliance form factor allows the NVG application to be loaded to any VMware ESX(i) compliant hardware. The virtual appliance provides the same functionality as its hardware-based counterpart and allows for scalability by clustering to support small to large implementations. The virtual appliance utilizes a seat based licensing model (just like hardware) which allows for deployment of as many virtual appliances as necessary based on customer environment to obtain the desired performance. Whether you need 1 virtual appliance or 100 virtual appliances, the cost is all based on the desired seat count and not the number of virtual appliances that are needed. To coincide with the NVG 8.0 release, two Starter Packs have been introduced. Both the 10 user and 50 user starter packs allow for very cost effective and simple access to the advanced technology that the NVG offers. Application Virtualization provides application portability by establishing a temporary virtual workspace that contains all the local settings (registry entries, configuration settings, temporary storage etc) needed by the application. In this scenario the client applications to be made portable are deployed to the SPO enabled USB drive. A user can carry this SPO drive, launch applications from the SPO client, and run on any PC supported by SPO without the requirement for administrative privileges or special settings on the host PC such as Java. New L2TP support allows for a number of disparate clients to connect to the VPN Gateway. Specifically, the following native clients can connect to the VPN Gateway using their native L2TP/IPSec clients These client are but not limited e.g. iphone, Windows Mobile, XP, Vista and 7 L2TP Client, and Mac OS X L2TP Client. The Microsoft-NAP feature requires the installable Nortel Health Agent and allows for the administrator to define end-point posture compliance policies as well as remediation capabilities. By supporting the native Windows System Health Agent on the end-point and by including the Nortel System Health Agent, this provides the customer the ability to define basic compliance policies offered as part of the MS-NAP framework as well as permits the operator to define advanced policies by using the Nortel Health Agent. The VPN Gateway is targeted at medium to large enterprises where there is a requirement to provide secure access to employees and non employees alike. This solution appeals to all verticals including health care, travel, manufacturing, education, retail, government, and carrier managed services. The solution also appeals to Nortel IPSec VPN customers that seek to add or migrate to SSL VPN.

6 Nortel Communication Server 1000, Release 6.0 news Release 6.0 delivers significantly improved SIP Line. The new SIPL Uext is significantly improved for operation to action as a Line with ability to listen for features. New SLG core component combines registrar, Proxy, and signalling for h/w reduction and builds new translation function => access to BGT features that fits into CS1000 deployment schemes for scale and robustness Communication Server 1000 Release 6.0 Instant Messaging and Presence Application Introduction Nortel is pleased to announce the General Availability of the Nortel Communication Server 1000 Release 6.0 Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence Application. The CS 1000 IM and Presence Application provides IM capability and phone presence information for all CS 1000 users. CS 1000 users can view presence information and exchange Instant Messaging using Nortel s IP Softphone 3456 (IPSP 3456), or CS1000 IM and Presence Web Tool (browser-based IM and Presence client). With this application user activity on supported Nortel telephones (VoIP-Unistim, SIP Phones, MobileX, MC3100, IPSP 3456, Nortel digital and analog phones) triggers presence updates and their Busy at <phone number> status is presented to all watchers. A new plug-in is added to an open source IM and Presence platform to enable CS 1000 Telephony Presence. Its function is to accept SIP-Publish messages from the CS 1000 Presence Publisher component and broadcast presence updates using the IM and Presence Application to all users. The IM and Presence Server can server multiple Callservers in a network.

7 The new IP Softphone 3456 provides access to IM and Video calling. For users that don t have the IPSP 3456 a browser based interface for IM and Presence can be used.

8 Software and Hardware requirements The CS1000 IM and Presence Applications are introduced as an addition to CS1000 Release 6.0 and require the following: CS 1000 Release 6.0 Communication Server current DepList (delivers the Communication Server changes required to provide IM and Presence functionality) Use CS1000 Release 6.0 DepList dated Nov. 9, 2009 (or later). Nortel CS1000 Applications - Linux Base, UCM, Subscriber Manager, Element Manager and Signaling Server Services Upgrade (SU) bundle (Release Versions ) include management upgrades, also a new CS1000 IM and Presence Application package which includes the Presence Publisher application. IM & Presence Hardware Requirement The minimum requirement for the new IM and Presence server is a CS 1000 Release 6.0 Server. NTDW41AAE6 Dell R300 or NTDW40AAE5 IBM x3350. The SIP Line trunks and associated UEXT should be set to Security Never (NSNV) to ensure SIP Media Security negotiation issues do not occur. The new IM & Presence web browser client requires adobe flash player installed. Nortel Enterprise business transition to Avaya Avaya acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions is expected to be finalized by 19 th of December 2009.

9 Upon closing, Avaya looks to provide continuity for Nortel Enterprise Solutions and Avaya customers. Currently, Avaya expects to: continue to ship existing products for approximately months post close; provide customer support for all customer contracts acquired in the transaction pursuant to their respective terms; utilize the vertical and professional services expertise of both companies to drive realizable value and navigate complex architectural evolution; Honour product life cycle support as set forth in customer contracts acquired in the transaction; and adopt, for data products, the Nortel roadmap and investment plan. All of the above items remain subject to change given the integration planning efforts currently underway, but they underscore Avaya s commitment to providing continuity to customers.
