System of Systems - Definition System of Systems System of systems is a collection of task-oriented or dedicated systems that pool their resources and capabilities together to obtain a new, more complex, 'meta-system' which offers more functionality and performance than simply the sum of the constituent systems

System of Systems - Example Example of the System of Systems Smart Transportation = Power System + EV System + ICT System Mobile battery of the smart / home grid Mobile Electronics Add-on-board Pad + Mobile private room/sickroom NEV Location-free Energy Mobile network hub Mobile (security) sensor Mobile robot Mobile consumer electronics New Service Platform: Tourism, City commuter, Medical and Information service, agriculture, etc. Interoperability is critical to the success of SoS!

Preparing for Electric Vehicles Better, Quicker Vehicle-electrification 24

IEEE-SA Partnerships - In April 2011, IEEE-SA and SAE International announced a strategic partnership in vehicular technology related to the Smart Grid - IEEE-SA and SAE have made significant contributions in standards including plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), vehicle-to-grid (V2G) communications and power, and the smart grid - In September 2011, IEEE and KSAE (Korean Society of Automotive Engineers) announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on standards development work 25

IEEE P Guide for Electric-Sourced Transportation Infrastructure - Addresses applications for road-based personal and mass transportation - Provides a knowledge base addressing terminology, methods, equipment, and planning requirements for such transportation and its impacts on commercial and industrial systems including, for example, generation, transmission, and distribution systems of electrical power - Designed to benefit: - Utilities, - Manufacturers - Transportation providers - Infrastructure developers, and - End users of electric-sourced vehicles (EVs) 26

IEEE P Working Group Status - Currently, draft working documents are underway for Task Force groups - 4 Task Force groups developed to address the broad scope of the guide, including: - TF1: Vehicle Technology (including Charging Systems) - TF2: Electric Grid (from Generation to Consumer) - TF3: Roadmap (including Privacy and Roaming) - TF4: Communication and Cyber Security 27

IEEE P Guide for Electric-Sourced Transportation Infrastructure IEEE 802/1901/P (communication), IEEE 1815 IEEE 1675/1775/ 2030 /IEEE P IEEE 802/1901/P (communication inside the home) IEEE 802/1901/P (communication) IEEE 2030/ IEEE P SCC31 (Meter) IEEE 1547 Series (distributed energy interconnection solar,wind, storage ) 28

Questions? Introducing Oleg Logvinov Home Networking 29

IEEE Smart Grid Standards Home Networking Oleg Logvinov Member, IEEE-SA Standards Board IEEE TM Working Group Vice Chair Director, Market Development, STMicroelectronics

Convergence of Home Networks Home Area Network(s) Street Light High Speed Connectivity Utility / Smart metering Low Speed Connectivity Service Providers/ Internet Vehicle to Grid 31

Powerline Communication and Smart Grid Home Gateway Smart Energy / HAN Smart Meter / WAN Solar Panels Light Switches 1901 Thermostats Automotive 1901 Customer Premises Charging Station Meter Utility Backhaul WAN Authentication Server Controlled Port Security Cameras 1901 Appliances Consumer Electronics Utility Network 32

IEEE Standards Home Networking IEEE 1901 Standard for Broadband over Power Line Networks: Medium Access Control and Physical Layer Specifications IEEE P Standard for a Convergent Digital Home Network for Heterogeneous Technologies IEEE P TM Standard for Low Frequency (Less Than 500 khz) Narrow Band Power Line Communications for Smart Grid Applications IEEE 2030 TM IEEE Guide for Smart Grid Interoperability of Energy Technology and Information Technology Operation with the Electric Power System (EPS), End-Use Applications, and Loads 33

IEEE 1901 Standard for Broadband over Power Line Networks: Medium Access Control and Physical Layer Specifications - IEEE 1901 is the world s most mature, robust and advanced Broadband over Powerline (BPL) standard to enable applications, accelerate product rollout and drive business models across a wide range of areas including smart energy and residential home networks - Power Line Communications (PLC) implementations from the HD-PLC Alliance and HomePlug Powerline Alliance are based on IEEE 1901, which create rich ecosystem of products optimized for a wide variety of applications 34

EV Charging Protocol: ISO/IEC Common Protocol stack from Layer 1 to Layer 7 for DC Charging and AC Charging * Carmeq Presentation, November 09, 2011, Dr. Thomas Frisch, Initiative Charging Interface, V1.0 35

IEEE P Standard for a Convergent Digital Home Network for Heterogeneous Technologies The work behind IEEE P is to define a common fabric that spans across established home networking technologies and to define a common data and control Service Access Point. Packets can arrive and be transmitted over any interface, regardless of the upper protocol layers or underlying network technology. 36

IEEE P Benefits Benefits include: -Universal Connectivity: can connect to the hybrid network from every room in the house without having to be aware of which part of the network their device is currently interfacing -Ease of Use: common setup procedures for adding devices to a network, establishing secure links, implementing QoS, and managing the network -Backwards Interoperability: designed for interoperability with IEEE , IEEE 1901, and MoCA -Mobility: Wireless connectivity supports mobile handsets and tablets -Multiple Simultaneous Streams: with applications such as interactive TV, even a single person may be watching multiple streams simultaneously -Load Balancing: Intelligently distribute multiple video streams over different paths to limit congestion and maintain reliability -Self-Install: Pairing can occur even with two different types of network interface -Fallback: When a link goes down temporarily or is congested, an alternative route is available 37

IEEE P TM Standard for Low Frequency (Less Than 500 khz) Narrow Band Power Line Communications for Smart Grid Applications - This standard supports indoor and outdoor communications over low voltage line (line between transformer and meter, less than 1000 V), through transformer low-voltage to medium-voltage (1000 V up to 72 kv) and through transformer medium-voltage to low-voltage power lines in both urban and in long distance (multi-kilometer) rural communications. - This standard focuses on the balanced and efficient use of the power line communications channel by all classes of low frequency narrow band (LF NB) devices, defining detailed mechanisms for coexistence between different LF NB standards developing organizations (SDO) technologies, assuring that desired bandwidth may be delivered. - The standard addresses the necessary security requirements that assure communication privacy and allow use for security sensitive services. - This standard defines the physical layer and the medium access layer of the data link layer, as defined by the OSI Basic Reference Model. 38

IEEE 2030 TM - The world s first system-of-systems foundational standard created from the ground up to inform smart grid interconnection and interoperability - A a roadmap to the interfaces that engineers encounter in bringing the smart grid to global consumers - Designed for and developed by the power & energy, IT and communications industries 39
