6 Setting the scene Outside-in-Monitoring Purdue University, like so many large enterprises, were struggling to meet the application monitoring needs for their numerous disparate platforms and teams. Numerous failed attempts at monitoring and reporting. Monitoring and reporting data stuck within silos with no single central source of data. Highly complex application relationships; impossible to relate data from different technology stacks to actual application availability. Metrics relating to the successful / unsuccessful delivery of an application were non-existent. 7 The Challenge CIO-driven mandate to deliver end-to-end application monitoring We need to know how the application is performing from the customers perspective. We need to be able to tell the customer about the health and availability of their application. We need to deliver dashboards at a managerial level.

Application topologies, including live health and performance data, delivered via Visual Application Discovery & Analysis (VADA). Monitoring data for many different components Windows, Linux, Tomcat, F5, VMware, MySQL DBs, Network devices and more delivered through a single console. OMS Security & Audit and Change Tracking data, plus data from external systems like Cisco Prime and LibreNMS Libre seamlessly integrated with SCOM data.
