4 Introduction This document provides the information required for planning the installation of a Vblock Specialized Systems for Extreme Applications at a customer site. The target audience for this document includes VCE field personnel and partners who assist customers in planning their data center requirements. Use this document in conjunction with the VCE Vblock Systems Site Survey. The data provided in this document is for reference only. For the most current product specifications, refer to the manufacturer s documentation. The VCE Glossary defines terms and acronyms that are related to Vblock Systems. To suggest documentation changes and provide feedback on this guide, send an to docfeedback@vce.com. Include the name of this guide, the topic name where your comment applies, and your feedback. 6 Cabinet and power specifications Cabinet specifications Cabinet specifications provide Vblock System cabinet dimensions and weight information. The cabinets come with locking front and back cabinet doors. Keys are shipped attached with cable ties to the front door and can be used for both the front and back doors. Cabinets are shipped with two side panels. The cabinets are designed to be built contiguously and bolted together. Because of this, there is no need for side panels between the cabinets. VCE does not encourage customers to put space between cabinets, because this requires an extended lead time on the order. The cross-cabinet connections would not reach, and custom cables would need to be ordered. The Vblock Specialized Systems for Extreme Applications uses Panduit NetSERV cabinets. The customized cabinet displays the VCE logo, provides a customized cable management system, and includes casters. Panduit performs extensive testing to ensure the casters can support the cabinet weight and up to 2,000 lb (907 kg) of equipment. Seismic brackets are included automatically in the Panduit rack kit. The cabinets are rated at a seismic zone 3 with 1,102 lb (500 kg) of installed equipment inside. In addition, the pallets used to ship VSS XAPP cabinets are specifically engineered to withstand the added weight of components shipped in the cabinet. Base cabinet dimensions The following illustration shows the VSS XAPP base cabinet dimensions. The Vblock System cabinet height including the casters is 6 feet 8 in. (2,026 mm). The illustration shows the height without the casters. Cabinet and power specifications 6
7 Cabinet specifications with no equipment loaded The following cabinet specifications are for an empty VSS XAPP cabinet. Measure Total shipping weight Floor footprint Cabinet weight Air space Packaged dimensions Packaged cabinet height Specification 667 lb (303 kg) based on the following weights: Cabinet = 386 lb (175 kg) Pallet = 137 lb (62.14 kg) Two side panels = 100 lb (43.45 kg) Packaging = 44 lb (19.95 kg) in. (700 mm) wide x in. (1,200 mm) deep (for general sizing, use 28 in. wide x 48 in. deep) 386 lb (175 kg) without side panels 486 lb (220 kg) with side panels in. wide x 50.7 in. deep x in. tall ( x 1, x 2, mm) 42.0 in. wide x 56.0 in. deep x 86.0 in. tall (1,068 x 1,424.4 x mm) in. (2,178 mm) The cabinet weight does not include the 1RU, 20 lb (9.07 kg) support shelf that might be required for an EMC XtremIO controller. All controllers in a cabinet do not require a support shelf. The following table lists the number of shelves that are required for each EMC XtremIO cluster size. Cluster size Shelves per cluster Total additional weight One EMC XtremIO cluster 2 40 lb (18.14 kg) Two EMC XtremIO clusters 3 60 lb (27.22 kg) Cabinet floor cutouts Cabinet floor cutouts provide floor specifications required prior to the installation of a Vblock System. The floor cutout shows how the cabinet doors open, how much clearance is required for the front and back doors, and where the cable drop holes should be located in the floor tile. This is a standard configuration floor layout, 28 in. (700 mm) wide x 48 in. (1,200 mm) deep. The floor mounting positions shown are when casters or levelers are used (using anti-tip brackets). Equipment rail spacing is factory set. 7 Cabinet and power specifications
