3 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS! Before making any electrical connections, ensure that the supply voltage and frequency, as well as any other voltage is applied to meet the specifications given on the label of devices and in this manual. Incorrect connection may cause damage to the device. When installing, always observe the relevant safety regulations. Do not use the device during a thunderstorm on grain dryers. The appliance must be disconnected from the power supply before the thunderstorm. Before carrying out any welding work near the appliance, make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the power supply and is not energized. Do not use the device with a damaged connecting cable insulation. In the case of damage to the cable, disconnect the device from the power supply and contact the manufacturer or seller service for replacing of the cable. In case of a fault device do not attempt to disassemble and to repair the device. In this case please contact the manufacturer or the customer service dealer for repair. The sensor must be installed in a horizontal position usually. The upper part of the device is determined in accordance with an information sign «top-верх". Do not install the unit upside down (information sign «top-верх" down)! The device must be installed in such a way as to provide easy access to control belay devices. 3

BASIC INFORMATION The microwave grain (bulk materials) flow moisture sensor PCE-А-315 is intended for continuous automatic measurement of the current value moisture in the flow of the grain (bulk materials), leguminous and oil crops at the grain drying complexes, which allows automating the process of drying; grain moisture measurement at flour milling plants and bins for ensuring effective technological cycle of moistening before milling. The microwave grain (bulk materials) flow moisture sensor PCE-А-315 can be used as a part of automatic moistening system or separately. Also the sensor can be applied in other industries for measurement of humidity of bulk materials. These are such industries as agricultural, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, etc. Measured products: Grain - wheat, barley, triticale, rye, oats, corn, millet, buckwheat; Leguminous crops - lupine; Oil crops rape, sunflower; Other bulk materials. 2. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION The microwave grain (bulk materials) flow moisture sensor PCE-A-315 principle of operation is based on the considerable difference of the permittivity of dry substances and water in microwave. The important advantage and feature of this moisture sensor is the fact that due to the simultaneous measurement of two parameters of the resonator (resonant frequency and amplitude of the resonance) and the special processing algorithm, grain (bulk materials) moisture values are practically independent of its density that ensures high reliability of flow moisture measurement. A ring resonator is used as a sensor element in the device where there is a measuring channel as a dielectric tube in the central part and the grain (bulk materials) partially allocated from the common flow runs through the dielectric tube. At interaction electromagnetic wave with the different moisture grain (bulk materials) resonator parameters are changed. The temperature sensor built into the measuring channel provides the automatic correction of moisture values from the grain (bulk materials) temperature The principle of sensor operation is explained on the Picture 1. When the grain (bulk materials) is out of measuring channel the resonator has resonant frequency Fo and amplitude Ао. After grain (bulk materials) with concrete moisture fill the measuring channel resonant frequency and amplitude decrease to F1 and А1. With increasing moisture of grain (bulk materials) resonant frequency and amplitude decrease even more (F2 and А2). Synchronous measuring resonant frequency and amplitude allows determining the moisture content independently of grain (bulk materials) density. This is the main condition of reliable values moisture in the flow. 5

WORK WITH INDICATION BLOCK After sensor connection with indication block in compliance with scheme on the Picture 2 and after turning on the device on touch screen panel MT6070iH you will see the screen like on the Picture3. The indication block is connected to the power supply VAC 50/60 Hz by the isolated cable of 3*0,75 size. Cable is put into the distribution cabinet, where is connected to the power supply through a circuit breaker (2A) and the power switch. Picture 2. 6

Pressing trend you can get digital meaning of the moisture at moment of time that is showed on the right corner under the diagram. For maximum zooming press the maximum number at the left corner of the diagram. The numeric keypad will appear. Use it to enter new maximum point. End this operation by pressing button ENT on the numeric keypad. Similarly minimum trend can be changed by pressing minimum number at left corner below. Viewing temperature trend is the same after pressing the button. At window you may correct sensor values using two coefficients Gain and Offset. The changing is possible after entering the password (password is 315). At this window also the limits of current output can be set. After pressing the minimum current the numeric key- 8

pad appears. Use it for entering new point of minimum current. The operation is ended by pressing button ENT at the numeric keypad and Save at the panel.

The correction of maximum current may be changed similarly. For setting date and time press the button at the lower right corner of the screen. After pressing the menu will appear. Press the button and you will see the table asking password and numeric keypad. The password is , enter it. Than press button Time/Date and buttons, to set time and date. To end this setting press button OK. Sensor address: In this case the sensor has address A and the panel is set up for work with this address. One indication block can work with seven sensors PCE-A-315. This seven sensors have A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H addresses. For entering (changing) the sensor address (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H) only one sensor should be connected to interface line. Press on touch screen the button Settings. You will see the screen like on the Picture 6. After choosing necessary address, confirm it by pressing button Save. Picture 6. After giving each sensor its address they all can be connected to the common interface connection line. The polling of sensor with concrete address can be done at the window (Picture 4). 5. TECHNICAL SERVICE 5.1 Installation The moisture sensor PCE-A-315 is installed at the control place in such way that the main flow of grain (bulk materials) gets into the opening area of the measuring channel. The cone insert built into the sensor carries out the backflow of grain (bulk materials) in the measuring channel. The grain (bulk materials) which does not go through the measuring channel is poured past the sensor. 5.2 After turning on give sensor 10 minutes to warm. 9

10 6. LIFTING AND CARRYING 6.1. Before lifting and carrying of device be sure it s disconnected from the power supply. The sensor and indication block (hereinafter components) carried separately manually. The connection cable between them must be disconnected. While transport device (its components) use procedure provided for lifting. Take it by lower edge of the side of the device. Do not use the connecting cable for device lifting For carrying or transporting can be used a special truck with a load capacity and dimensions according to these characteristics of the device described in this manual. 10
