4 Input and Output Devices Draw lines to match up the devices to the human organs (think about the job that they do which body parts perform similar jobs to the devices of a computer?). 6 Challenge Level 2 Challenge Level 2 Challenge level 1 CPU and Internal Devices The devices listed in the first table are those that are used within the Tower of the computer, to do all of the storage and processing of instructions. CPU ROM Hard Drive RAM Which storage device stores the boot sequence which is used to start up the computer? Support: This device is then not used again whilst the computer is switched on. Which storage device holds all of the instructions for the software? Support: These are passed to RAM when they are needed. Which device is used to store instructions that are ready to be loaded into the CPU? Which device is used to decode the instructions and execute them (send them to the output devices)?
